  1. On my way to Marcarl's this spring, I ran over something that did a job on my exhaust collector (on the highway at 70mph). Ended up with two fairly large holes on the botom, one with a large dent. Carl tried a patch but that did not hold. I tried more patching with some muffler cement and again, the heat and pressure blew holes in the patch areas. Any reason why I can't weld a patch in place? How important is it to try to straighten out the indent before patching? All comments appreciated!
  2. These are the Instructions provided by the manufacture. How to iron a patch. Lay a piece of thin cotton cloth onto a patch. Turn your iron on 175 C /cotton/ and press /don't move the iron-just press/ during 15-20 sec. Big patches please start pressing form the center to the edges of a patch. After this please press once again edges of a patch - about 5 sec. Please use only good quality iron-we advise you against using poor Chinese irons, because they don't keep a property temperature. Please pay attention to all plastic elements in a nearby of a patch-hot iron may damage them!!! First washing of the pressed patch can take place after 48 hrs-max. washing temperature - 90 C. This iron-on patch can be iron onto cotton, all synthetic clothes, leather and some synthetic leather.
  3. I've had some emails about the big patches, I can get an order in with a 25 count. That's where the break is.
  4. I am a new member of the pgr annd have a question about putting a patch on the back of my jacket. I already have the Venture Riders od the back. Am I allowed to have them both on their? 5. The planning for Vogel V is underway, attached to this post you will find an attachment for the registration. I will also be posting the schedule of what is planned at a later date. This year I am doing it a little differently, every adult attending will pay a $35.00 registration fee, what you get for this is a t-shirt, patch and a catered meal on Saturday. If any of you are bringing your children or unlicensed teens, the only thing extra for them is the cost of the dinner which I will put at $5.00. Only full registrations will get the shirt and patch. I will have extra shirts available for sale for $18.00, and patches for $5.00. Please try to get you registrations to me by Aug. 1, 2011, so I can get a good count on how much food to order and how many shirts to order. You can mail the registrations to my address which is listed at the bottom of the form. Remember all profits will be going to the Kids at St. Jude.
  6. Hi Guys and Gals... I have a holes in the chamber thing and I cannot get it a patch to hold for anything. I have tried muffler patch and the clay stuff that turns into metal, even a screw and the clay/metal stuff and that still blew out. It is annoying but I just want to make sure it won't affect the engine in any negative way. I prefer a nice quick ride but I can put up with the pseudo Harley sound. I do not know what the chamber is called but it is connected to the pipes from the engine then to the mufflers. Help I am going nuts with this. Thanks, Mark '86 VR
  7. After reading about the patch that Cruser found online, I ordered one from ebay. The link to that thread is next. The link to this one has profanity in it, but I like it and ordered one. He also said he would make some up in black with white lettering. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=51590 After exchanging several emails with the creator of this patch, I asked him If he could do a custom patch. He said he would do one up. It will read Why Yes, It Is Faster Than Your RSV He said it will take a few weeks to get it together and that he would let me know when they are ready. If anyone is interested in one let me know and I will forward it to him how many he can sell. I will not be involved with selling them as his price with shipping is real low. Now, no hate posts from you 2nd genner's, thread title said not to read this. Gary

  9. I have an HTC HERO sprint cell phone I am looking for a cable to hook to my laptop so I can get the internet on my laptop from my cell phone. Someone mentioned a patch cable where do I find this and do I need any software with it. Joe
  10. Headed out of the house this morning to get on my trusty steel steed to head to work and didn't notice a small ice patch on the driveway (still dark - 0430) as I punched in the code to open the garage door. Started the bike to let it warm up while I put my riding gear on. Hoped on the bike and started backing out of the garage and just as I was making the turn to point it toward the road, my left foot hit that small patch of ice. Down I went. Did the splits. Layed the bike down on the engine guard and bag guard. I finally got the bike back up and the kickstand under it and looked it over. No damage, the only thing that was hurt was my feelings. Another lesson learned. Glenn
  11. I have a crack in the lower fairing; radiating out from the main (upper) bolt that secures it. Is the best repair something like JB Weld or some sort of ABS welder product - possibly with an ABS patch to prevent it from propagating? If anyone has something that has worked for them, I would appreciate the information. Thanks Ross
  12. Looking for a DIN 5 Pin Male to Female patch cord to exend the connection for the passenger communication system. Approx 18" - 24" in length. Any one know of a source? Many thanks for any recommendations.
  13. One of our friends here has this patch--and I thought some of you might relate to it?
  14. Today I was on my way to my mother-in-laws, she was having a birthday party for my youngest daughter just turned 16. I was getting off the cloverleaf exit in tifton ga. Its a real hairpin turn, that I really love to lean through, you know scrub the floorboards, well today I came off the interstate around 50 MPH, and found a surprize in the middle of this exit, OIL a nice large patch. Well with the floorboards all but scubbing, there was no way to miss it, the brickstone on the frount just went to sliding, the kumho on the back did not slide at all, it held all the way through the patch. Now I have been ridding since age 13, 37 years, I don't remember ever having this situation before. I have slid the rear around but not the frount. The only thing I could think to do was to stand the bike up, it came up and I almost went across the ditch into the access road. I kept it up but don't know how. I did not touch the brakes at all, pretty sure that would have put me down. had to change underwear afterward. will slow down there from now on. Gregg

  17. I was wondering if Avon had any plans to manufacture a front Wide White Wall tire for the RSV's and asked for a comment on the MT90 for the front. Attached is there answer. I questioned one of the comments and asked for a explanation and the answer is attached, as well. The answer is just the manufacturers opinion, which I am sure is standard policy (CYA), so please take it for what it is worth. I know many have tried it and liked it and do not have any concerns or problems. Myself personally I would prefer to stick to the stock sizes. Brad Thank you for contacting Avon Tyres. At this time we in the North American office of Avon Tyres have heard no plans to produce your front tire as a WWW. As for using the MT90 instead of the 150 we cannot recommend this because you will be dropping in dimensions. The MT90 has a higher load rating due to it's belted construction making it a reinforced tire but because of it's smaller dimensions it will not hold up to the bike as well and you will be loosing contact patch width. This fitment may work well for some people but due to the size of the bike we don't recommend it. Let us know if you have any more questions. Thank you for your interest in Avon Tyres and ride safely. Hello Brad, sorry I didn't get back to you right away. Our policy is to never recommend a tire of lower specs. This includes both load & speed ratings as well as overall dimensions. In most cases a larger tire always has more load carrying capacity due to a wider contact patch dispersing the weight through more tire. Adding belted construction will raise the load rating but is done to ensure that the tire will keep it's general uniformity under heavier loads. Even though a tire is belted, it's contact patch should still be sufficient to get the best grip. A tires load carrying abilities is important but it's level of grip is also very important. Another con to having a smaller contact patch is possible cupping issues with the rubber as well as other strange wear characteristics. The casing may be reinforced but the rubber is not. We reinforced the MT90 so much because we don't think that it is a large enough tire for such large bikes and with our modifications to the tire it works well for what it was originally fitted to. But we still don't want to recommend other bikes that require wider tires to switch to the MT90 especially if we have the proper size for that application. I hope this answers your questions and please let me know if you have any more. Avon Customer Service c/o Hoppe & Assoc, Inc. PO. Box 5112 Lynnwood, WA 98036 USA Tel: 800-624-7470, Fax: 425-771-4246
  18. I went to the doctors yesterday, and he took out the stitches, for the last time!!!! He did more x-rays, and said all looks good, but I have to take it easy for another month. No lifting and such for about a month!! So I am in the end portion of healing:cool10: My Brother in Florida was gonna send me his "broken wing" patch, but he must not be able to find it. I had seen one that I really liked, but it was before the crash. Now I can't find where I had seen it (naturally). So I wanted to know if anyone has seen this patch. Unfortunately the picture is in my mind (yea, something has to be there) It was only about 3 1/2-4" long, had a nice set of feather wings, with only one wing broken, and falling down. I did see a HD one, but dont want that one (for obvious reasons). If you see one will you please let me know! I am looking for a small one to put over my shoulder on my vest. http://www.smokeymountaintrading.com/id67.htm It was similar to this one on page 21 only with one broken wing, and seems it was a lot nicer looking, and not in Harley orange. Thanks to everyone here for all the help and prayers...They must have worked....at least thats what the doctor says!!
  19. is patch #6, with 83% of the votes. I have attached the patch and done a quick redo with 2 slight changes - the blue in the background is Ontario but looks like it is water because of the colour so I changed the blue background to green to look more like land. I also removed the VentureRider logo (please forgive me) and replaced it with "Life's a Venture, get on and ride." Unless there are any SERIOUS issues with those changes, the planning committee is moving forward with this patch design for the shirts and patches.

    Vote for 2008 Rally Patch

C'mon people, we have what....almost 4,000 members and we don't even have 100 votes in yet on the patch design contest. EVERYONE can vote...whether or not you're going to the event.
  21. Well, I guess one of the many things that need doing for the 2008 VentureRider International Rally is to design a patch and t-shirt design. For those that don't know, here are the facts: Date: July 7-10, 2008 Location: Kitchener, Ontario, Canada Let's get those creative juices flowing and see what we can come up with for designs. I would suggest we give this contest a few weeks at least for those who might suffer from temporary "designer's block".
  22. I know I've read this before but I can't find it. I want to go to Radio Shack to get a patch cord to run my MP3 player in the auxiliary jack. What is it called? Thanks, Bob
  23. What are the luggage and the fairings made of? Plastic of fiberglass? I am currently preping for paint with bondo. Will this work to patch holes on the luggage. I am using PLASTEX for the front fairing repair. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks, Derek
