  1. I wanted to post a good comment about dealer Turn1 in Plymouth, Indiana. They are a dealer for Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, and Victory (and Polaris). I had tire troubles with my old Bushtec trailer on the trip to Potato Creek. After several stops and tele calls elsewhere trying to find new tires and tubes, Turn1 took care of me. They had tubes in stock, and ordered a pair of new tires for me which they installed on Thursday as I was leaving the International Rally. They were knowledgeable, and good to work with, and made time for me while I was on the road. And their prices seemed quite fair. I'll point out that they have a pair of new-old stock Ventures on the floor. A 2009 Red/Black, and a 2008 Silver S model. And a used 2009 Seashell/Raven. Also having a Victory factory truck demo days on July 30-31 which I wish I was nearby to take advantage of. http://turn1.com/
  2. Anybody interested in 2 Chatter box communication systems? Model HJC-80 Selling them for a friend he doesn't know what there worth. He is looking to get $50.00 for the pair or B.O. Whats a fair price?? Bubber
  3. I was just checking out a used Venture at a local dealer (rough shape) but it had some cool alternate floorboards mounted on the rails around the saddle bags. There were three different positions for each side and they even had the Venture V on them. Any ideas where I could find a pair?
  4. Hi, I got tired of the original mirrors on my bikes, for various age related reasons, so I built a mount that adapts the Venture 2 screw mount to take the conventional M10 x 1.25 threaded shank of a conventional motorcycle stalk mirrors. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/ad39/UxHamby/vehicles/bike4/98280491.jpg?t=1275875559 I built a couple of different versioins before settling on a final design. The pair that were the version before last, as shown in the picture above, are quite useable but will now only sit in my junk box, so I thought I'd offer them 'Free To Good Home', to anyone here at VR.org who's interested in having them. They were hand fabricated as prorotypes so certainly don't look 'laser cut' or anythng, but are entirely functional and quite presentable I think. They are a left hand / right hand threaded pair for compatibility with Yamaha mirrors. LMK if you'd like them. (BTW, I bought the mirrors I used on Ebay as shown in ebay auctions 110370409134 and 110515482095. I am quite happy with both.) Cheers, Brian H.
  5. I am in the market for a pair of chaps. while i can make my own, i have too much going on right now and have some leather work sitting in wait, so that really won't happen. who makes a good set? i would like a thick leather, but would like the input of folks who have been there and done that. I have some riding pants, but i wind up with jeans, grab my riding jacket and helmit. so i am going to go the chap route. if they are unisex as they seem, i will probably get a pair for Deb as well. i need to go to bed, so i will check this thread tomorrow (today really). well, i will check it later - Ok? and, thanks for the input. I appreciate it.
  6. was going to run my son up to St Louis we stoped for gas before we left he went in to pay we get on the bike and all it will do is click never would turn over just click so i call my wife and tell her bring jumper cables we try to jump it but notheing so i got a bigger pair of cables it clicked then turn over one time then i put it on the soleniod and it fired right up drove it back to the house. so is it my battery or the is it something else?
  7. I went for a couple hundred mile ride on saturday, pretty day, temps in the low 60s. Traffic was pretty light, but I do have a couple comments about people I saw while I was out wandering around. First to the gentleman I saw running on the beach up at Tybee Island. You sure looked purdy in your gym shorts and leg warmers. While I may go walking in a pair of shorts and a hoodie, my outfit would never be completed by a pair of stilletos. Second to the gentleman in the black Nissan behind me at the light in Savannah, There is not a gold mine in your nose. There is no buried treasure, and no matter how hard you try, you'll never feel your brain. When you spread your findings across your palm, I guarantee that you won't even find the hubcap that I saw missing from your car. Other than that, I had a pretty good ride and a good day. I think that spring has arrived in south Georgia, 60s and 70s all week with lows in the upper 40s and low 50s. As for today, I hear a golf cart calling my name!
  8. I have wanted a pair of headsets so that my bride and I could talk, listen to music, and such. I decided to take the plunge and get a setup before our Easter time vacation ride somewhere (Destin? Big Bend?). I had been leaning heavily towards the Chatterbox Xbi2. Then someone here mentioned a Scala Rider set, and wished for a G4. So, I asked my friend Mr. Google and he pointed me to reviews and such. And, this page. Sometime, you just have to stop second-guessing and do something. So now, I have the Scala Powerset G4 coming to the house for $399, which is much less than I've seen elsewhere. Heck, one of them is $250, and a pair at $399?? I hope it works, and also that my honey doesn't check the credit card balance. Dave
  9. Bought a pair of water bottle holders off ebay for $50 for the pair.. I kept one and gave my brother in-law the other one. I just got it installed today. Removed all of the original snaps, some cutting and trimming and installed the new snaps. Easy reach and it does not clutter up the handle bars being on the saddle bag guard. Now if the snow would just melt....................
  10. I have a pair of MK1 and a pair of MK2 front rotors that are cluttering up my garage. They are used, in fair to good shape. If you need them respond here or PM..
  11. I had a pair of these on my Vstar 650. Lots of open places to mount them, and they were LOUD at 109 Db. Reasonably priced and the pair only draws 6 amps. I'm thinking about trying to install a pair in the passing lamp light bar area or near the air deflectors on the forks where they would be out in the open and not muffled by a fairing or cowling. It may take fabricating some different mounting brackets, but it looks like it's doable. Comments? http://www.wholesalemarine.com/p/AFI-10001/ Oops, tried to insert a pic but it didn't work. :Venture:http://www.wholesalemarine.com/p/AFI-10001/graphics/00000001/AFI-10001_med.jpg
  12. Just purchased 1988 Venture and I am in the process of cleaning up and changing fluids. I am in need of the side panel vents/louvers (both). If anyone has a pair let me know.. cimack77
  13. Pair of MK1 Caliper covers in fair to good shape?? PM me with address, they are free...
  14. OK I just got done sorting out some parts and here's what I'm trying to get rid of next. I have 2 left mirrors in fair condition, one has rashed chrome, the other has "whited out" reflective surfaces around the edge of the mirror. Both are serviceable and better thsn no mirror at all. $5 each to cover the flat rate shipping to US. I also have a couple of MK1 front fairing frames in good shape. Pay shipping or pick up and they are yours. I also have 2 pair of stock horns. Pay shipping, probably $5 flat rate box will work. 3 pair of MK1 passenger grab rails in good shape, rust free. Pay shipping. I have a ton of other parts I will be getting rid of over the winter. If there is something specific you are looking for PM me...
  15. today , i finally got around to taking the rear wheel off of my '86 to have new "elite III's put on.in the process of removing the muffler, i broke one of the exhaust collector "outflow tubes" off.my question now is, can i just fabricate a pair of 2into 1, manifolds/collectors, to replace the 20 plus year old piece of hardware? is there a REASON that all four cylinders must empty into a single box? thanks to any and all who respond. just jt
  16. I have 3, count them, three sets of passenger grab rails for a MK1 up for "Grabs" if anyone needs them. These are all virtually rust free and in very good shape. Also, I have a pair of stock horns available as well. There's a lot of 1st gen parts I will be getting rid of in the coming months...
  17. Some do, some don't. For me, way out in the sticks, it takes a half day ride and and extra 30 bucks for the pair. Since I spent almost 300 on premium rubber, maybe i should. i thank you as i am a nubie dumbxxx.
  18. When I bought my bike, it had a set of the Longhorn Offset Dually highway pegs on it. I don't like them. I can't seem to get them adjusted where I want them. I would like to trade them for a pair of straight (no offset) pegs similar to these. If you are interested let me know.
  19. Has anyone here tried this yet? Sounds pretty neat. I wonder how much it costs. . . . Found it for $456 for a pair, maybe? Find a buddy to go in half? Wow!
  20. I bought a pair of these riding pant cause they were low priced ie:$50.00 and had alot of features. Like hip pads, knee pads, quilted removable liner, zipper for jacket etc. These pants are warm down to the 30s and lower with the liner in. The knee pads don't stay put well thou. right side stays for me left one doesn't want to stay over the kneecap. Material looks and feels good has extra heaver mesh on skid zones. Reflective piping is very bright and it had ankle zippers to help getting them off and on. All and all these are a good part time cold weather MC pant. They are bulky and alot of the stitching of little thinks like the liner stays and belt straps are weak. One belt side has broke already, I guess I can sew it back on. For the money, I think they are worth looking at if you just want a pair of warm and padded pair of waterproof pants in your collection of gear. That you can wear every now and then when its nasty out. I don't know how long the will last. But they are very comfy except for the knee pad moving around on you.....
  21. I found a set of Halogen 35 watt driving lights on EBay listed at $19.95 buy it now with $7.20 shipping and figured what the heck for less then $30.00 give it a shot. Well the site said nothing about being DOT approved but they are and they went in with very little work. I had the change 1 end of the OEM wiring to a spade socket slip some tubing over it and I was done. They are marked with a "top" in the lens and a small tip in the lens at the bottom for the split in the clamping ring. They are also marked DOT with the DOT code on the lens. These are not sealed beams but lens with replaceable H3 bulbs. The guy has one pair listed right now and I did notice that when I purchased mine the next day another set was offered. Now this is for a pair not each and I had them in less then a week. http://motors.shop.ebay.com/merchant/hwsolando_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZ
  22. Hello everyone, Well the weather is finally breaking and we are getting our bikes ready for some summer riding fun. This year i was looking to install a pair of top saddle bag rails on the Venture, but I don't know where to purchase them! Would someone please direct me to a sight I could purchase from. My wife bought a pair from e-bay, but they must be for a Tour Delux cause they don't line up, or maybe i just don't know how to install them. Any information would be a big help! Thanks and have a safe summer!
  23. Fellow RSTD'ers. As some of you know I laid my 07 RSTD (only 3 months old) - down a while back It was a sad day indeed. Wife just had surgery last week to mend her broken finger and repair a nerve. Other than that only cuts and bruises. I traded my skinned-up RSTD on a Stratoline "S" model and have some parts that I no longer need and would like to sell. Need some "goodies" for the liner. I have a couple of these in the classifieds, but a lot of folks just don't look in there. Here is a brief list and prices OBO: Baron's 4-2-4's - perfect condition - $300.00 SOLD HD Fairing - SOLD to Mountianhorsega Pair of chrime wide muffler clamps - Will throw them in if you buy the mufflers. SOLD Full set of Mustang seats - wide touring and studded - about 3 weeks old - $500.00 Utopia backrest used about a week before going to the Mustangs - Will have to check my invoice for price... SOLD I am sure I have other stuff - but that is a start.... Thanks, Shep
  24. Broke my Rt side mirror off completely, even the glass. Went looking for spares and I think I could get hen's teeth easier. Stealer wants over 200, fleabay has a couple for a hundred or more. I just don't have that kind of money. I'm thinking about trying to put a pair on from another brand of bike... ones that are not gold plated . Anyone tried that before, if so, how did it work out?

    Chaps

I was looking for a pair of Chaps, but these do not have a belt. They have a loop that goes around your belt and may be called Leggings. Saw them for 200 bucks today and was thinking I could get them a little cheaper. Any suggestions where to find a pair ? Thanks Brad
