Looking at the max. load ratings on some of these tires and I'm wondering, on these bikes, what the weight distribution is? Say these 1st gens weigh about 800 pounds, then add 70 pounds for a tank of gas, oil & filter, plus another 250 pounds for the rider, clothing, leathers, boots, gloves, helmet, keys, pocket knife etc..., that's roughly 1120 pounds. How much of that weight load rides on the front tire and how much on the rear ? Is it about the same for the RSV's ?

I bought a Street Magic load equalizer and set of 4 LED turn signals from a friend for my 2nd gen. The SM load equalizer has 4 wires; purple wire to left, brown wire to right, orange wire to positive, and black wire to negative. Everything works fine but when I turn on the CB and I turn on the left or right turn signal I get a lot of static over the speakers. The orange wire connected to the positive wire is connected to the blue tail light wire. I disconnected the orange wire and connected it straight to the positive battery post and the CB does the same thing. I took the black wire and connected it to the negative battery post and it does the same thing. I disconnected the Street Magic and of course my turn signals flash fast but the static is gone. If I get load equalizers off ebay I will need four. Does anyone know if I need 25 watt 60 ohms or do I need 50 watt 60 ohms or does it matter. Anybody have any ideas on either system??? Thanks, Harry

A couple question for you guys who might know off the top of your heads. First, I'm replacing all my turn signal bulbs with LED's. So I need to change my old load resistor type flasher and hazard relays with new electronic relays. Do any of you know right off hand what the electronic equivalents to the FU257CD/NIPPONDENSO flasher relay and the FR-9H22/MITSUBA hazard relays are? Second, Will the self canceling unit still work as it should, or will it have to be replaced as well? If it will need to be replaced, what is its electronic equivalent? Its model/manufactures #'s are YH-001/MATSU****A. If this guy won't work properly after the LED conversion and there is no electronic equivalent, it's no big deal. I usually cancel the turn signal myself anyway. But it would be nice that it work as it should for those times when I forget to turn off the dang thing myself. Thanks, Bill P.S. I already remedied the flashing LED on the dash problem. I simply jumped the reed switches on the computer instead of going with those inline resistors. I was just to damn cheap.

Just got back from a 1350 mi road trip pulling my trailer and girl ? Had to use 4 gear most of the time. Overdrive is way to tall with a load. I have a 96 just seems to need a little more juice. It runs great but another 20 hp would be nice.

Went to Rocky Face Ga. Tuesday and picked up a Bushtec Turbo 2 trailer, I think I will get alot of use from this one! Now I gotta get some time off so I can load it up and drag it around some. Will need to get the lights wired in first though.

Well it's not exactly the Dark Side - but the new Gold Wing tyre size is close to a lot of car sizes and might JUST be the largest you can fit on a first gen, at 160/80x16, but it also might be too wide. Has anybody tried fitting one ? It has an 80H load rating which is a fair bit higher than the 77H of the heaviest duty 140/90x16 tyres - and as I'll be pulling a trailer tent on the bike and sidecar on the German autobahns, I'll be putting a fair load on the tyre in hot weather. Has anybody any experience on this ? I hope so because I need to splash out on another tyre in the next week or so to be ready to travel.

Should be prety much set to take off Saturday after I stop the mail, load the luggage, etc. Great weathewr Saturday, rain for Sunday. Hannigan here we come...

Well.I had a load going to Breslau,Ont. It was supposed to deliver on Thursday, but had to move it up to Wednesday. Coming thru Michigan,I lost a injector on the motor. The load had to get there so I ran it on 5 cylinders per the bosses orders.. I was sweating it going over the Blue Water Bridge because the motor was missing badly and vibrating real bad. I got to Waterloo Regional Airport and met Hal there.. I got unloaded and parked the truck and went and had dinner with Hal,Gayle and Rhonda. Very cool.It was great seeing you guys again... A venture M&E with a 18 wheeler and 3 cages.. I stopped in Port Huron on the way back and had the oil changed and limped her back to the terminal...Hopefully they will have it done on Monday.

I did see you can buy the adapter to get more load but not sure where to put it. Also not sure if i need 1 or 2 load adapters. Any idea thanks Doug that is suppose to be light not tight

I updated my maps today (took over 6 hours) !!! Then when time came to actually load them on the Zumo, it announced that due to map expansion there was not enough room to load all maps and I should select the area desired...... Well.....That's really annoying !!!! Has anyone run into the same thing? And what did you do about it?? Now it seems you can load maps onto an SD card....So I did, but what does that mean? Is it then necessary to insert card each time you "run off the edge of the world"? and what happens to your music waypoints etc...? I am truly annoyed.

On some of the posts, the pictures are about the width of the page. I have put my pictures in the smaller format to get them to load, but I like the larger pictures a lot better. They are easier to see and not having to click on them to get them to load would be a plus. Is there any downside to having bigger pictures posted as far as memory or bandwidth usage? What size are these larger pictures in pixals? RandyA

Thought I posted..now can't find it. Watch this video and I am sure you will want to do this also. At the end of the video is a way for you to make your own video and send it to others. The picture of the "Hero" in this video is me. I think this is a fun video. Takes a while to load it but it's worth it. http://en.tackfilm.se/?id=1261611453793RA67

On my last two long rides, I had a cruise control problem that seemed to get worse (more frequent and consistent) as I rode. It got so that after about 5-10 minutes on cruise, it would pop out again. It would do this at different cruise speeds and while it initially seemed worse under load (on hills), it got so that it acted similar when not under load. It acted like I had cancelled the cruise setting. The on indicator light went off and the resume light came on when this happened as if I had hit the cancel switch. I could resume cruise but the problem would reoccur again after some more miles. I read with interest dingy's post yesterday on cleaning the switch which I understand could help. However, could this be just a vacuum leak that gets worse depending on load etc. and if so, is there a most likely location for that leak?

My '83 Venture is running bad....really bad. It had sat for 3 weeks. I got it out one day to ride, and it went to missing under load. It starts and idles fine. I checked out the fuel system...it's good. I replaced the spark plugs I replaced the fuel filter. Plug wires and caps check good. cleaned connectors to stator, regulator and TCI. When I ride it, it tries to go...has full power for a few secs, then sputters, and falls on its' nose. Under load, it just jerks back and forth. Backfires out the right side exhaust sometimes too. Like I said, it starts and idles fine...it's only under load. It looks like I have to remove my fairing to remove the TCI/coil assembly...is this correct? I had removed the airbox and battery box, and it seems the fairing has to come off next. Help!!

I'm curious as to what type of loads some of you have ridden the bike with. I understand there are various factors and I don't want to push the safety envelope. I'm 6'5" and 295lbs my wife is 5'3" and normal weight. Yes, to confirm your thoughts, I am scared to ask her weight, much less post it. I have a 06 RSV we have ridden two up and it was great but no trips with luggage yet. I know we are pushing the load capacity. Just wanted your thoughts

Hey guys. A few years ago I switched to LEDs to save some power and changed the flasher relays so I could get some power freed up. Well over the winter I upgraded the stator so the power problems are gone. With that I now find that I want my automatic canceler back working so Im gonna put the original relays back in the bike. I now need to install load equalizers. Problem is where should I put them? Do I need 2, one for the front and one for the back and which one should I get? Help me out here so I can get rid of my grandpa flasher syndrome!!! LOL

Today I took the Surburban up to the PO, and didn't have any signs of impending doom. Went inside, took care of biz, and when I got in the car to leave the battery was deader than a door nail. Started fine at the house, and then NADA. Called AAA for a jump. Fired right up and I took it home. I did find the positive side connection on the battery a little loose, and figured that may have caused a loss in charging. Got back to the house and hooked the battery up to a 15amp smart charger. Left it on for a couple of hours and when the wife came out to go to a doctor's appt.... Nada again. Now I put a Multi on it and it read 12.8 vdc. Pretty good. Anyway I removed the battery and took it over to my local Battery dealer. Same thing on his meter. 12.8vdc. Asked to have it load tested. Hooked up the tester and battery read in the green. Cranked up the load and it croaked. Open cell. The batt was only 20 months old, so they gave me a new one. When I installed the new batt the 'burb started a little reluctanly and stalled out a few times before it took hold. Here's the surprising thing. When I took it for a test drive the thing shifted smoother, had more power, and idled as quiet as when we first got it. I'd never seen anything like this before, and the dealer said it was quite rare. But I guess the car had been running on a low voltage for a long time before it died. Where am I going with this?? On our bikes we tend to rely on the volts to indicate charge and battery condition. Next time something doesn't seem right. Ruff running etc. It might be wise to have the battery load tested.

OK, I am not the sharpest tack in the box so someone out there should be able to help me with this. I have the 550 and I know that you can store music on this thing to listen to--I have a 2 gig SD card and can not figure out how to keep my CD's together when I put the songs on the card. I have a 3 disk series of George Jones and want to keep each disk's songs together but when I load the disks on the SD card all the songs load by the song number. All the 01 songs are together then the 02--03 etc. How do I load the disks and keep them as they are on the CD? Is this confusing enough???

I'm still thinking about this creek and considering a trailer to haul the scoot.I looked at the ones at Tractor Supply. They have a wire mesh floor, drop down gate,4x8 with a 2000 lb payload for around $600.95% of it's use would be hauling down to the camp only 1 mile down the road.Maybe once a year an occasional trip 500 miles to the beach. What would you buy? Here is my needs. 1. Budget minded nothing fancy 2. Easy to load and unload by your self. 3. Heavy duty enough for a first gen or ATV I would be pulling this with a pickup. My 16ft dual axle trailer is to big for this and would like something smaller.

OK guys I'll try it this way. I have had trouble uploading pictures so I will try it this way. I built this trailer last summer and have logged 2500 miles in it. It pulls like a dream and with the suspension, the heavier you load it the better it seems to pulls. http://s665.photobucket.com/albums/vv14/ctraylor_photo/

I have a 83 venture that I'm fixing up. It has no radio. Has anyone tried putting a splitter on a MP3 player so the driver and passenger can listen to the same MP3 player with ear buds? Will it be load enough to hear or does it really need a amp? Thanks in advance. Jeff

Well.. this should be interesting... My wife and I are going to take our first trip camping with the motorcycle. Going to load up the trailer and the bags, and take off for about a 4 hour ride. Two nights of camping, along with a float trip down the James River next weekend for the holiday... I'm used to camping, but this should be interesting loading up the trailer for the first time. Never pulled a trailer with a bike before. Have lots of years and miles under my belt, or I wouldn't be attempting it.. I intend to load it up and pull it around for a couple evenings to get the feel of it, and to figure out how to best load our gear into it... This is kind of a small "feeler" trip for a 4 day rally we will be going to in PA... Try and sort out the things we don't know, figure out what we'll be needing that I forgot (it's been a couple years since I've been camping, and need to replace some gear and such) and hopefuly all will go well for the big trip in about 3 weeks... If anyone feels like passing out tips.. I'm all ears..
