1. Anyone have any experiences with ebay item 280650803116. $1.20 for a set of 2 and shipping $2.00. 2 24 LED 1157 Car Tail Brake Rear White Light Bulb Lamp 2 24 LED 1157 Car Tail Brake Rear White Light Bulb Lamp 2 24 LED 1157 Car Tail Brake Rear White Light Bulb Lamp
2. OK. Here's what I just did today for additional turn signals. I added a 1 foot long amber LED strip right next to the fairing "eyebrows". Whadaya think?
3. I'm mounting an pole mounted Q-625 Amber Strobe Beacon lamp on the back of the scoot for traffic awareness for our group rides, mainly for Rolling Thunder's long trips. The strobe draws 3 amps. I have an off/on switch to turn off the carb heaters. I can also turn off my passing lamps to conserve battery juice. If I pull the BEERCART, I'll have an additional battery (lawn mower type) tied parallel into the scoot's system for added power. Will I be OK drawing the 3 amps without worry of draining the battery? I plan on getting another beacon later. I just happen to have this one right now and a LED Beacon. However the LED Beacon is less noticeable in daylight. BEER30
4. just pull my trailer out of storage "not heated" and now the 3bulb led lights I added last year are extremely dim. i added these little lights to just the brake light so they act like an extra brake light. worked great all last year and now nutt'n. I checked the connections to the original led brake light wire and it looks good. these were $8.00 truck stop specials so my ?? is can they just go capute. its odd they both took a dump but the origianal brake lights work just fine. any ideas???
5. I know I can replace incandescent turn signal bulbs with LED clusters or bulbs to reduce electrical consumption (draw?). But if I have to add a resistor in order for the "blinker" functionality to work, does the added draw from the resistor essentially cancel out the gain from going with LEDs? Or is there an added draw from the resistor but it's not enough to overcome the gain from the LED? And if so does anyone know what the numbers really are? (for example: incandescent bulb draws 5w, LED draws .2w, resistor draws 1w, so 5w - 1.2w still results in "recovering" 3.8w per bulb - and yeah, I just made up all the numbers.) As you can see I'm not an electrician. Thanks in advance.
6. I know this subject has come up before but I'm bothered that all it took to drain the battery was a heated vest. Have heard the the RSV doesn't have the most robust electrical system. I was in Daytona and saw a vendor selling LED running and headlights. Unfortunately can't find name (I thought I took a card) and it may have been only harley specific. Anyway, other discusions here about LED driving or headlights have talked about interference with radio or CB. This guy said he's never heard of that with his LED lights. They were not cheap - at least 400 bucks for a pair of driving lights but might be worth it to reduce the electrical draw and make a heated vest or jacket practical. Anyone know of LED driving lights out there that would fit the RSV and not interfere with radio?

Sorry

sorry , I've not been on lately , but I have a new job , I am working for Ken at Trick Lights , installing LED lites on bikes . We did the daytona bike week and saw Ruffy , Jricherd and Crazy Larry , than did the San Antonio expo , now getting ready for Bandara . Its very hard to get on site with Andriod , I am going to try Tap a talk ? anybody know off a better app. ? Trick Lights is a lot more fun than working on RVs , I get to work on other riders bikes installing LEDs lites , LED headlites and Custom Sound amps and speakers and I get to go to all the m/c shows ! I unloaded the 1st Gen when we got to daytona and used 4 gal of gas in 78 miles , Ouch !! but on a side note there is a lot of Hardlys than don't like me LOL Sorry Doodle I missed your MD but had to work
8. I posted a while back that I needed a favor of someone living around Bend Oregon. Well I had someone that responded via text. Was willing to help out. Then I got a text from someone else that contained a phone number. The sending number was blocked so I have no idea who it was from. The phone number has led to me finding my father after a 23 year absence. Whoever sent that text, you are an GREAT PERSON!!!! I owe you a debt that I can never repay. I a not even sure how you knew what I needed. Shaun
9. A while back I was on about trying to get some form of 4.5" LED highway lights working on this bike, going through the fiasco of the rip off artists with their shyte bulbs, and finally on the Custom Dynamics. But no matter what was installed, horrible RF interference was heard through the bike's radio and audio system.. so much to make the sound system on the bike useless, thus making the LED lights unusable.. Well I'm happy to announce that I managed to sort it out and got the LED highway lights on the bike and without any radio interference at all.. (I don't use CB personally so can't say how it works on that, sorry) I was chatting with the nice people at http://www.customled.com about some other project and then posed the question to them if they could come up with a solution or if they made their own.. Though they said they might not be able to build another new light like this, they did come up with a probably fix to try out and wouldn't you know it.. it works! And simple.. I should have thought of it before.. but didn't.. grr Simple aluminum foil wrapped around the back of the light itself! that's all.. I thought it couldn't be THAT simple.. so I grabbed a couple sheets of aluminum foil and tested it out myself.. wow.. no kidding.. took the bike out for a ride, scanned up and down the channels and not a buzz from the lights. I rode wit the lights off until I heard a weak channel and then turned them on, expecting them to down out the weak channel but nothing.. the channel didn't drown out in a hiss or buzz.. wow.. YAY.. Working LED highway lights! Simple way to do it is to get two layers of a foil around the back of the light, and pinch it towards the front of the light (looks like a hershey kiss) so that you can mount it back into the light fixture. Obviously you'll have to make sure the electrical connectors aren't able to make contact with the metal or you'll have a short.. once the light is attached and done up, you can pull away at the a foil pinched out the front, trimming it with a knife of need be.. Simple as that.. However, to pretty it up I have some aluminum deck tape (used for aircraft firewall application) that should do the same job and make the mounting of the lights easier.. I just have a buckshee set up now for the testing. But it works! Now once I have the Moon Shinez signal lights to flash normally, bobs your uncle..
10. I have had the LED tail lights (from CruiserCustomizing.com)sitting on my desk for several months. I looked at doing the install myself, but chickened out, as I am not the most mechanically minded rider on the road. Then I met Rick through this site. He lives 10 minutes from me. We had a coffee, and he offered to help with the install. So... today we did it. Four and a half hours, including going out for a replacement bulb, as I dropped one, only to find that they do not bounce on concrete. The running lights and signal lights look great, but there is no change when the brake is applied. I can live with that. I will probably get an LED Brake light one day in the future. HUGE thanks to Rick for the use of is tools, garage, lift, and most of all, his knowledge and confidence in tackling this job.
11. I was on Adventure Rider (ADVRider) and came across this post, where a fellah sells LED spot/flood lights. (Vendor Link) They seem very bright and he has run them on his off road bike, so they would seem durable. I'm mulling over installing them off the front brake mount, to be on only when I have high beams on. Or maybe the 10w on all the time, and the 24w with the high beam. The photos through page 2 on ADVRider are pretty impressive. The other place I've wanted to mount aux lights are on the mirrors, but I am not sure how to do that. Maybe some PIAA HIDs would go there... or these. Just another option for y'all. Dave
12. Hi guys.. wondering if someone could help me out with something here.. I can't seem to find my way around this.. basically two parts to this, please bear with me.. (keep your clothes on, I didn't say "bare") Last year my signal flasher broke down and I had to replace it with a new one.. the mechanical flasher was located under the right side cover under by the seat.. simple plug and play.. However, while waiting for that one to come in, I picked up an Electronic LED FLASHER that would work for both incandescent and LED signal lights and not require load equalizers etc as it's all part of the package thing.. Its not a plug and play but someone had sent me info on how to splice it into the bike's wiring etc. Before I had time to attempt it, someone found me a proper OEM flasher unit and I put this electronic one on the shelf.. (photo with info on box and flasher) Does anyone recognize or/and know where I can get info about it etc etc? Now, the second part is that I purchased and installed a pair of Genesis Flat LED Turn Signal White BAZ Eclipze2 (Custom Dynamics) and wow, are these things insanely frikken bright!!! Perfect with the HID headlight etc.. They are white LED that stay on all the time but turn off as you signal to flash on off on off.. but they stay on all the time.. making you very visible to blind cagers.. hopefully.. But being LED they flash fast.. oh well.. I can live with that.. man these are bright! NICE! Someone stated that if you put load equalizers in the circuit to slow the flash rate down, you then lose the self canceling ability of the system.. Not sure if that is true or not. Then thinking.. Hmmm what about that LED flasher unit?? Put that into the system and voila.. the flash rate slows down and ... self canceling we'll find out. BUT the fun is I cannot remember where I got that LED flasher from, or how it splices into the system properly.. Anyone? Bueller?
13. My wife bought me a couple of Sidewinderz LED light strips for Christmas for mounting under the tank to light up the engine, but there is no controller or switch of any kind - just the light strips with about 16" of wire on the end of each one. Does anyone have a recommendation as to a simple light switch kit I should get for these? Electrical is not my strong suit, so I'm fumbling with this a little. I did find this controller on the CruiserCustomizing.com web site, but still not sure it's what I need. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?Category_ID=49&manufacturer_ID=563&product_ID=32058&sblid_name=Street_FX_Electropods_L_E_D_Light_Kit_Power_Distribution_Module&model_id=0
14. Hi guys, anyone here using LED signal lights on the RSV? I've seen some on other bikes and didn't think they were brighter or near as bright as the OEM incandescent bulbs. If you have LED signal lights on your bike, and believe they are as bright if not brighter than the OEM lights, AND remember the URL to where to find these lights, could you please drop me a line? Thanks in advance. Cheers
15. My daughter had friends over who damaged the string of C3 LED Christmas lights we strung on the back patio. I've replaced them and want to re-purpose the damaged set for holiday illumination of my bike. I want to wrap the luggage rack behind the passenger seat (note: I have an RSTD). Is it easy to run these LED Christmas lights from the bike? Or is there some current monkeying that I need to do? Ideally, I'd wire them into a Powerlet plug, and run them from the jack. Dave
16. 1) 89 VR. I installed 2 Amber LED Night Rider turn signals from Custom Dynamics for the Front. I followed Instructions and connected the three wires from each LED to the respective standard turnsignals. The LED wires were spliced in within about 1 foot of wire from the standard front turn signal bulb. I used a circuit tester to verify that I'm splicing into the correct wire. After the installation was completed the LED turn signals all worked as it should. The LEDs do not have parking light capabilities, they are just turn signals. When I put the 4 way flashers on the LEDs were not working. At first I was puzzled for I was expecting the 4 way flashers to activate the LEDs. Later my thoughts are that the 4 way flashers must activate just the stock parking lights rather than the stock turn signals. Maybe you all knew that but I didn't. Please correct me if needed. However when I put the 4 way flashers on and then switch on the turn signal eithor directions, both the LEDs work inconjuction with the standard turn signal in 4 way flasher mode. There's probably an explaination for this. So if someone can put it in laymen terms I'd appreciate it. The 2nd issue. 2) A week prior I installed a set of Walmart Platinum Burners with a switched relay powered by the Accessory fuse box screw. The lights worked great. So today after finishing up the LED installation I tried all various combinations and this is what I've encountered. The LED turn signals will not work with the Platinum Burners. a) If I have eithor turn signal running, then activate the running lights the LEDs stop. b) When I have the 4 way flashers on with the turn signals on also to activate the LEDs in 4 way flashing mode then turn on the Platinum Burners just the LEDs stop. The standard 4 way flashers work. c) When I have the Platinum Burners on first the LEDs will not work in any combination of a) or b) The bike has been stitting for 1 month with a 2 amp auto shut off motorcycle charger. The Bike is fairly new to me and so I have not had the battery checked nor the Stator checked. My 89 VR has 25K miles. Oh yes I've also installed a set of Stebel TM80 Magnum Horns on a seperate relay and they work great. I do not understand the issue I've encountered with the LEDs and Platinum Burners. I did all my testing with the engine off. Your thoughts please.
17. Hi All, I have an 83 Venture Royale, with an 86 1300 in it. I also have a parts bike, 83 VR with 1200. The 1200 has a plain airbox lid, while my other one (1300) has a lid with an apparatus on the front part, that has a 4 pin square connector with 3 wires on it, and a separate spade terminal wire. It also has a red LED which is lit at idle, but when the engine is revved up, the LED goes out. What is this apparatus, and is it for the 86 engine, or something that was originally on the 83. This bike also has the Markland cruise control, which isn't working right now, but that is another post...?? I am just curious as to what this device is? Size is about 3-4 in. wide by 2in. deep
18. I am looking for a part # for the front T/S bulb on mt 2007 RSV. I have the rear T/S, and brake bulbs but I need to find the LED bulbs for the front. these bulbs have 3 indexing pins spaced 120 degrees apart instead of 2 at 180 degrees.
19. Got my LED Driving Lights in today from www.greenboatstuff.com and I can say they are bright. Now I guess I will have to go to the LED headlight though because now my headlight looks dim. http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n315/rlyons_photos/Venture/DSC00328Large.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n315/rlyons_photos/Venture/DSC00327Large.jpg
20. I want to replace my trailer (pulled by cycle) lights with led-type of lights. i was hoping to be able to simply take the light cover off, remove the old light, and wire in the new led lights. could it possibly be this simple, or am i dreaming? if it is possible, does anyone know where to purchase the led lights?
21. In a recent thread, scope59 showed how he installed Moto-lights on his front caliper. They were really nice looking, and reminded me that I had thought to do something similar. In my case, I had thought about adding some BikeVis Bullet Pods. These are little LED lights that would work great on the brake caliper. I'm particularly interested in using the PodMod accessory to make them "twinkle". I don't need light down low, but this would enhance my visibility. In comparison to the $500 moto-lights, the $84 for the BikeVis lights + PodMod is affordable, and I think the twinkling is really effective. Has anyone added these to the 2nd Gen? Dave PS, here's a video. The WBW review was featured on our site's right margin, which is how I came to learn about these things. 22. Was looking around at Custom Dynamics website and saw they have the 7" LED headlamp and 4 1/2" LED passing lamps...(Sorry, I have no clue how to load a website).

New guy with questions

I have been riding motorcycles since I was 20 years old back in 1967. I have almost always ridden standard bikes like a Triumph Tiger 650, a BMW R79/6 (I think!) a Honda Shadow, and now a 2000 Sportster 1200 Custom. My wife no longer drives her own bike, and I have been selfish for the last few years and haven't given up my HD to get something she can ride on behind me. My search for a truly comfy bike has led here. Every review seems to say the same couple of things - the bike is super comfortable, smooth and powerful - and weighs a TON! I am 63 in pretty good shape, but am I getting in over my head here? I'm 6ft even, and weigh about 260. Can I handle this beautiful monster?

My photo gallery has photos of it. it's in good condition, no damage just 10+ years of riding. 89k miles, runs great. extras: chrome saddle bag rails chrome front fender rail chrome trunk rack hopnel tank bib and trunk bib chrome kuryakin highway pegs LED tail light chrome trailer hitch by hitch doctor back-off light module trailer light module 4-wire trailer lights old custom trailer included (Built by blackowl) passing lights clearview wide/tall tinted windshield with vent stock exhaust - extra set of Bubs included Purple LED accent lights DiamondR Rope light on trunk under passenger backrest custom LED light bar under trunk newer pillow tops seats and more I'm sure. I've been unemployed since mid-May and programming jobs for ColdFusion are very rare right now. Most companies are not even employing full time people right now. I've had several interviews, mostly get told I'm over qualified or they want someone with exact experience in a certain industry. I have more interviews, but I have to start thinking about selling this. $6,000 firm considering the condition, extras and trailer.
