  1. I can't imagine why I am so nervous. Couldn't be that I am getting married tomorrow!:bighug:My new bride and I will be going to PC, FL to Thunder on the Beach. If you see a guy on an 07 RSV with a little bitty redhead on a trike, say hello.
  2. This guy is located on highway 20 east of Smithville. Just came back from purchasing a jacket, quite happy with a textile Himilaya with two liners for $135 including taxes. He has really grown and I recommend the guy wholeheartedly. He is a rider and has opened a building on his farm, so low overhead and low prices. If you're riding in the Niagara direction, make a point to drop off and see Ed, you'll be glad you did. (Closed Mondays and Friday opens at noon) http://tonsofbikegear.com/
  3. Brad I like to thankyou very much for calling that guy for me It You will be kindly rewarded when I see you next time which will be sooner than you think
  4. :rotfl: He's going to pick it up tonight, a 2009 red and raven demo bike with 700 miles. That makes 4 of us with 2nd gens at a factory with less than 100 people total! One of the others just joined here a couple weeks ago, I'll work on this guy next. Later, Scooter Bob
  5. where does a guy get another intercom cable for the headset??? and how much are they?? does any one have one to sell???:crying:
  6. That scooters got nuttin on this guys. Now this is a guy I would love to sit down and have some beers with. http://www.ronpatrickstuff.com/ Mike
  7. Jeff got this yesterday. It'll be easier then riding the bicycle he has on the gravel over there. It's a Honda Knock off 125. He's happy needs a bit of work, but he'll get it fixed. He even has it already sold when he leaves. He's gonna teach one of the guys how to ride over there. Who knows maybe the guy will like riding enough and join the site when he gets home. So he'll be getting some riding over there. Plus the temps are already in the 80s where he's at. Margaret
  8. When I bought my bike it was lowered 2.5 inches. I'm a tall guy so I had it put back to stock height this week. I actually think I may want the leveling links put on in the future. I like the bike being higher a lot better.... The Yamaha dealership quoted me $750 to raise the bike. I had it done by a local guy for $50. Yeah, look at the difference. He said it was a very simple process to lower/raise the bike. Anyhow, I have the links and plate to relocate the brakes if anyone is interested. Like I said before, it will lower the rear end about 2.5 inches. I have no idea what it's worth. Is anyone interested? Let me know.... Ben
  9. I get to work this AM to find that I'm out of cereal. Bummer, no breakfast. So I decide to take a ride over to the nearby MacD's for some fast junk food. Inside at the counter me and another guy are waiting for our orders when in the door walks a 5 or 6 year old girl. She approaches the counter and orders a large coffee. What???? Both the other guy waiting and I look at each other and at the same time say, "did she just order........?" The counter girl takes the kids money and tells her that she'll have to go out and get an adult as she can't give hot coffee to her because she may get burned. (three cheers for MacD's) I watch the girl go out to a newer four door Cadillac, and to the drivers door. The window goes down, and shortly the 30something guy behind the wheel motions her back into the store. She makes it to the foyer and stalls out. Obviously, she knows the counter girl isn't going to give her the coffee and dad/big brother/jerkwad isn't coming to get it himself but she's been sent back. The little girl hovers by the door when the MacD's clerk shows with the drink and heads for the door with several expletives under her breath, followed by the other guy who was waiting for his food and myself. We get to the car and the drivers window goes down again to the clerk, the coffee, and a (likely) mothers scorn. The dad/brother/jerkwad gets defensive, puffed up and starts to exit the cadillac 'til he notices me and the other guy, now flanking the still loud MacD's clerk. He seemed to suspend motion for a moment while he re-calculated the odds from one testy woman to two decent sized guys and one testy woman, and sorta melted back into his ride and rolled the window up. With no one to yell at, and our food cooling inside, discretion wins out and we all go back into Mac's as the Caddy pulls away. Never mind the fact that someone could be off with a child that size in a heartbeat.....what kind of brain dead weasel would expect a little girl to shuttle scalding hot coffee around for him because he's too lazy to drag his worthless butt out of his car? Every time I think that I've witnessed the height of human stupidity, some douchebag sets the mark a little higher.
  10. So you glad yet that you didn't bring just your bike with you! How is the Alabama guy dealing with all this snow! I for one can't stand it!
  11. I let a friend talk me, last minute, into going to the International MC Show in DC this weekend when I earlier said I wouldn't. Overall it was ok. Packed like sardines though and very few real deals to be had. I did see a guy talking with a salesman over a 2010 Royal Star Venture. I stuck my nose in and said I had one and loved it big time. We wound up talking for a long time. He was looking at a RSV and the Gold Wing. He liked the fact that the RSV was different looking whereas the GW looks kind of too sterile. He certainly seemed swayed by what I had to say. I should have gone back to ask the Yamaha guy what my cut was. Something I didn't realize until the show was that Black was the only color option for the 2010 models.
  12. Look in the lower left of photo 1. My speedometer twisted off and is laying on 110. I never did catch the guy in photo 2.All I seen was a blue streak, nice jacket, and good looking boots.
  13. I bought my 2nd Venture a 2004 Midnight 9000 miles low low price repo. It sat, my guess 6-9 months. The day of purchase I drove it from D.C. to Kansas City on a wing and a prayer. I notice its gas mileage is below average ... about 33 mpg not 38-40 like my old 99. Runs fairly good but the carbs on the left leaked when stopped. Get it home and start seafoam, no good. I know the floats are sticking. I sync the carbs which were way off, smoother but not by much, still krappy MPG. I aint up to a carb rebuild, so I take it to the shop, and shop rejets, the jets were green with corrosion, but he puts in the next larger pilot jet....which I didn't want. He said the floats were not sticking. The bike now backfires like popcorn. He readjusts the settings and the bike runs great, not as fast as the 99, but very good. Backfire constantly. I tighten all the exhaust bolts I can, the bottom front bolts are impossible with removing a pack of stuff. Backfire much better now. Gas milege sucks!!! 28 MPG. Back again to mechanic he says he changed the pilot back to stock. The next day the carb is leaking on the left side ahhggggg!!!! Back again to the mechanic, each visit of course costs more, up to 3 bills now. So now he is replacing the float needles, I wish I worked on this higher level stuff and had more knowledge. The mechanic's a great guy but these repeat trips are the norm not the exception in my experience. The worst part is I may get it back less than right again. The guy is an independent, the local Yamaha dealer's service is so horribly bad it makes this guy look highly competent in comparison. The Honda dealer has teenagers for mechanics, so you can guess how they do. If I had a Harley I would have many good service options available around here, but they shun metric. Opinions please http://www.latenightwithjimmyfallon.com/wtf-pics-tiger-man.jpg Yamaha certified mechanic on break in St Joseph Mo 4300
  14. This guy rigged a remote controlled motorbike with a skeleton driving the bike...which has a loudspeaker attached to it. You don't have to speak the language to understand the reactions!!! The guy hides across the street from a walled cemetery and when people walk by it at night...well, see for yourself... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkqsAK-jzCA]YouTube- Cemetary Prank[/ame]
  15. I sure would like to put a set of these on my bike. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eptqTii74s&feature=player_embedded]YouTube- Guy mounts a airhorn from a train on a Durango[/ame]
  16. Thats what a guy told me at the Conawingo dam. While I was watching the eagles fly around at the lower parking lot. So...I had to go. I heard it was a kool bar setup for MC riders. Outside bar, horse shoes, bands etc. No problems from the locals. Not even dirty looks. The big chat on the lot was the goldwing and its airbags. Heard a HD guy say he would have one if he rode more or further...lol I liked the place, back in the day I could of had some big fun there.. The chopper almost backed into me when he was pulling out. If I had not yelled at him.[i was standing right next to the bike] He would have scartched his custom paint job..No doubt. Just me and the wing and a new triumph besides the HDs'
  17. so i found an 86 on CL for $850, waited a few weeks(no $) and then finally emailed to find the bottom line. $400, i jump on it, hasnt been tagged since 99 , sitting in a barn auctioned off to raise $ for the deceased, so the story goes, the guy who i bought it from fiddled with it and got it to fire up but not really run. tank is unbelievably rusty,so i pull it all out, workin towards the carbs, and i turn her over to see the diaphrams move and she fires right up! lookin up!!! she belches smoke and is HEMORAGHING oil, but i do the right thing and let it warm, drain the oil to put in new and notice " hey thats alot of oil!" couldnt help myself, i had to find out....71/2 QUARTS!!! HOW DID IT EVEN RUN? so whos the dipstick? the dude for dumping in the oil, or me for not doing such a simple thing as an oil change immediatly and assuming this guy knew anything about mechanics.Im still shaking my head...71/2 quarts

(50 miles South of Yorkton ) saw a ball bouncing around kind of strangely in the lake and went to investigate. It turned out to be a flathead catfish who Had obviously tried to swallow a basketball which became stuck in its mouth!! The fish was totally exhausted from trying to dive, but unable to because the ball would always bring him back up to the surface. The guy tried numerous times to get the ball out, but was unsuccessful. He finally had his wife cut the ball in order to deflate it and release the hungry catfish. You probably wouldn't have believed this, if you hadn't seen the following pictures... Be kinder than necessary. 'Cause everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  19. I rode over to the local bike shop today. They are predominently a Honda shop, but also sell Yamaha and Kaws. Just as I was getting ready to leave I see this guy come running toward me. He said that he just had to talk to the owner of a Venture. He went on to say that he had sold his bike and really liked the looks of the Venture and wanted feedback from an owner. Well...I not the most objective guy when it comes to my Venture. I haven't had and of the troubles that some have had on this forum; no chirp, no more whine than on my last two GWs and I love the ergos on this bike more everytime I ride it. The only problem I've had was taken care of with new rubber. Anyway, we talked about the bike for a while and we both had to leave. We'll see, maybe we'll have a new member soon. I talked up the forum too!
  20. Went over to pick up my scoot after leaving it there last Saturday, and the guy cleaned it and waxed it up a bit as well!! Think I'll leave it over there more often...
  21. Wanted to let everyone know that when I needed to buy a mirror, this guy sent me one for free! Wouldn't even discuss letting me pay the postage. What a great guy! The mirror came in today and looks like a brand new one. THANKS BOB! (Say Don.....reckon you could hang another award on him for helping out a fellow rider?)

    RSV in Vancouver WA

On Page 90 of the October issue of 'Motorcycle Cruiser' there is a picture and short write-up on Troy Prices's '06 Midnight RSV. I checked the member's sction and can't find him listed (although this was the first time I have used this feature and may not have done it correctly). Looks like we need to get in touch with a potential new member. Hey Larry AKA - silverdeer, this is the guy I was talking about at the Leavenworth M&E. oldsalt
  23. I have bad hips, so my Venture is getting pretty tough, especially at intersections 2up. So, I have been thinking of going the trike way. I rode my first Trike yesterday, finally, after looking at them and asking about them for a year or so. First off, I stopped at one of the local HD dealers to look at their 'from the factory' trikes - they didn't have one. The salesman told me they sell them as fast as they come in. So, I went to a local shop that sells & installs several Trike kits. The guy was wonderfully helpful! He let me test drive one and said to take it for a half hour or so. 'Enjoy yourself'. So, my wife & I climbed on and took it down the street heading for the Interstate. - I didn't get that far. I just didn't feel very stable with the steering. My wife said that she felt like she was being thrown side to side. It was me trying to get used to the handling - NO Leaning and turning with the handlebars. The trike rode wonderful and I'm sure that one gets used to the handling, but for the 15 minutes I was on it, I didn't care for it. I only got the trike up to about 45ish, I didn't feel comfortable enough to go faster. So, I told the guy thanks for his time and letting me try one, but I will wait until I absolutely HAVE to have to either give up riding or get a trike. The guy said he understood, but assured me that if I took the bike for a longer ride, I would get comfortable with it. I just don't think I am ready to give up on my leaning yet. It's just my opinion, I am in no way meaning to bash trikes. They just aren't for me, (yet). craigr
  24. This would be great at a tailgate party,
  25. these guys were overheard saying "What the hell, the venture guy has a bigger flag":cool10:
