1. I found a can of 44k at a local auto repair garage. How much should I put in a tank of gas? The garage owner said it was some bad stuff and to make sure I didn't get any on paint, clothing, or skin. He also said if I didn't use all of it not to store in a plastic container but to use glass.
2. This one should get some really good responses! Last evening while attending the local chapter (SCRC) monthly meeting I was talking with another RSV owner about issues with his Venture(2008). Seems his fuel pump went out and left him stranded a few month's ago. I brought up the mystery power drain that my 2006 was having if it set in the garage for more than a week. He stated that he had the same problem with his wifes BMW and also his Venture on one occasion. He was told it was related to the concrete garage floor and walls. Had to do with amount of moisture in garage and the age old 'Do not store a battery on a concrete floor' as it will drain it. He was told to place a dehumidifier in his garage and te problem will go away. Well he did just that and says the problems is not near as bad as without one. He states the bikes can set for up to a month and still have cranking power. Is there anything to this theory?
3. Oooh soon.. oh so soon.. I'll be moving into my new insulated 24x24 floor heated garage.. Someone had mentioned I shouldn't park the bike with the tires on the bare concrete floor as it may 'leech' the compounds out of the tires??? Once the builders have the mudding done on the drywall and the rest of the 20 amp services are connected, it's just a paint job and building a work bench to keep me busy this winter.. AHHHHHHHhhhh
4. So, with the cold and bad weather coming soon here in Ontario, I need a recommendation for a fuel stabilizer for the bike. Not storing at the same place as last year. They did this work for me, SO I will be storeage prep and store this year in a family member's garage. Suggestions welcomed. Thanks
5. Hey Peoples, Looks like a great site. I'm Emery from Alberta. The last time I was biking was back in the 80's and the biggest bike I owned was a Honda 750/4 (pardon the language) I am 67 and wiegh about as much as a rear tire:big-grin-emoticon: Now I have the bug to go riding again but there may be some problems. I just bought a 1985 Venture royale 1200. I like it! but it is big and scarry I think? (Its in my garage waiting for me.) I fit this bike but if I lay it down they may have to burry me with it. Am I biting off more than I can chew?? Wanna go riding long distance with freinds:dancefool: Any good advice will be appreciated. Thanks and have a great day, to all those who don't mind me telling them what kind of day to have:thumbsup2:
6. bike nut

winter

Well winters almost here. What a drag.I was wandering which is the best way to winterise my bike .It will be in the garage for 4 months.
7. Recently, I had started putting together a mobile garage. I did this for 2 reasons, sooner or later I will be leaving Wainwright for home, with a bunch more stuff, than I arrived here with... This will also give me a dry place, to work on scoots, back on the wet coast. I took 3 pics today, of the setup work done over the last 3 weekends, since getting the trailer. I will be adding more lights, but CDN Tire was out of the ones, I'm using over the workbench (which is roughed in but not finished). The tool box is bigger than what I was going to put in. But with the current sale price, I couldn't really pass it up. $1,000. normally, $625. Sale price + additional $350 Bonus card, to get more goodies. So I figure $275 for the tool box, I'm grabbing it, besides I was eyeing it for about 1.5 years.......... :mo money:
8. Spotted it in the parking garage scene in the season opener of house, a burgandy like mine. i know, who cares?, it was just neat seeing it on tv
9. Check out this site....I just ordered vinyl diamond plate paper from them to re-do my garage cabinets. Sure beats painting them. http://cutsmetal.net/index.html
10. Given the various electrical problems I have encountered on my bike, now I have one at home. Last night I was watching the race about 10:15 and all of a sudden it sounded like a train was coming thru the house for a couple of seconds and then the power went out. I went down to the basement to strong electrical smoke smell. The front panel on the breaker box was very hot. I took the panel off and the left buss bar where the main breakers were located was missing and the bottom of the box had molten aluminum running out of it. It had evidently exploded. I walked outside and even the garage 75 feet away and my street light was dark. We are the last one on the line with our own transformer and it had popped the fuse on the transformer. Then, to make things worse, I went out to the garage to get my big LED flashlight, I had to go in the side door, which I seldom use and when coming out, I stepped on a piece of plywood that had a nail sticking up where there had been some roof repair where a big tree limb went thru it a few weeks ago. Now, with new priorities, Laura and I took off the VA emergency room to see when my last tetnus shot was done, which was three years ago. Since it was not hurting bad, I decided to just wash it good and put some antibotic ointment on it. So, when I awoke this morning, it was hurting and had some swelling, so back to the emergency room we went for an antibotic shot and a round of antibotic pills. This is more critical as I have been diabetic for many years. I ended up calling the Power Board, who came out and disconnected the power to the house and reset the transformer so I could have power to the garage. Then I was able to run a 100" cord to the house to plug the refrigerator back up. Now, to make this more frustrating, I took this week as vacation as I was planning to meet up with Big Daddy down in the Smokies, but right now, that ain't looking too good. I am currently at my son's house because I could not get my cable internet to come up. Of the the three TV's we have, only one would come on correctly with cable, so I don't know what I have there. And of course, all these checks is using the long cord from the garage. So, I am getting ready to go to my insurance carrier tomorrow and see what the options are. I have Farm Bureau and they were real good when lightening struck my heat pump last summer. Wish me luck folks. RandyA
11. Cleaned up the garage today and found an assortment of stuff from my Venture that I no longer need. I make no promises about any quality. It all free to whoever wants it, you pay the shipping or we arrange a meet. There is a larger chunk of plastic that I had used as repair material....probably a litle ackward to ship, although not heavy. Let me know if you want any of it...if not it's in Thursday's garbage pickup.
12. A few weeks ago while in S`port, LA. at a freinds house ( on our way to Lowells) our freinds next door neighber had a MM parked in his Garage.. I looked to see if he was out side or in the garage, but no go... I didn`t want to go knock on his door, any way, I do have his name, but just wanted to see if it is a member of the site. Our freind was going to give him all of the VRO info and mine... So is it any one here???? K
13. Posting this trailer for a friend of mine. He's only used it once since he has had it and it just sets outside beside his garage. He selling it for $250.00 He's in Flint Mi. His name is Mike and his cell is 810-845-3842
14. Brought my brand new Venture home this afternoon, parked her in the garage, threw on my uniform and hauled a** into the city for work!!! The 5 miles from the dealer home were the smoothest, most comfortable I've spent on a bike! Hoping for some slow time tonight at work to start to read my manual. Any break in hints or tips would be greatly appreciated. I know I've already left my fuel selector valve on in my garage, hope its ok till my wife gets home! Pics to follow tomorrow!!
15. Awhile back there was a big rush to add gauges to their bikes prior to the riding season. Well I was one of those, and I stole an idea from AlbertaClipper and added a Voltmeter and and oil pressure meter to my dash (tank cover area) . Since I had to buy a three gauge set to get the two gauges I wanted I have the water temp gauge left over. I was cleaning out the garage and decided someone could put it to better use than taking up space in my garage. Is anyone interested in the water temp gauge (gauge plus mounting bracket for three gauges) or maybe I should give it to someone that shows up at the PIP? Well what do you think? SUGGESTIONS? and please keep it clean this is a family rated forum ya know. Bubber aka Steve
16. Ok well need little assistance guys. So my 99' has 69,000 on it and just last week i parked in the garage for few days because i had to drive to work. after about day 3 i noticed a small river running from underbike to garage door. so i checked it out and it looked like it was coming from the rear shock. I have heard this before that they go bad just all of a sudden. so i cleaned up the mess and check the air pressure in it. 0 it had so i filled it up to 40lbs and rode to work. when i went to leave work it still was hold at 40lbs. here we are on thursday and still 40lbs in it. should i be looking for a different leak back there or is it possible that it can hold air and still leak oil. HELP! i dont want to replace the shock if i dont need to.
17. i unloaded my wing this morning and took off for a ride around the block to put it in the garage. i kind of got carried away and ended at my kawasaki dealer. finally found a new nomad to sit on in the right color. it was absolutely beautiful, beige and red 2tone. fit me like a glove. came home and linda said you can go get it today if you want it. i want it so i am now negotiating. not a sure thing yet. no trade out right, 14k. they're gonna have to come off that. i'm going to do a little shopping on the net. i'm in no hurry. i will have to get rid of a couple of bikes if i buy it, i'm out of space. my zx-14 is in the neigbors garage. i think the 14, and the majesty scooter will be on the to go list.
18. Went under the knife yesterday.Had to have the appendix removed.Just got home and relaxing.Think I will go to the garage and at least hear the bike run.
19. It takes some doing but works like a charm! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXgC5keQGtw]YouTube - Autoswitch Motorcycle Garage Door Opener[/ame]
20. I took a few guys on a ride today and the sky opened up. We made it home just in time before it rained. For the next two hours I had the nicest garage in town. The bikes are warm and dry and the people are out in the rain. The next best thing to riding is eating. I think the boss (wife in the second pic) is wondering if she can get her car in. My money is on................... no. My son woke up and looked in the garage and thought be died and went to haven.
21. Well I ordered Kumho 195/55/16 Run Flat for my Gold Wing, It will be here tomorrow. Looking forward to testing this CT out when we have the Rally in August. From what I read and the comments here,I bit the bullet and bought the Kumho. If Its anything like mounting runflats on car wheels I know I will not like it that much . Garage just bought a new tire maching at work so I will give it a try, it is one of those fancy mounting machine. Let every one know how things turn out.... Buddy
22. Was at the local dealer yesterday to ask about checking the floats in my carbs and they didn,t seem interested to even look. Ok fine I,ll just drive it althought it seems alittle rich. Anyway as I was leaving I noticed a guy outside on the parking ramp pulling wrenches so went over to look. He,s got his bike tools on the ground and says he is taking his rear tire off. I say can,t the guys in the shop help and he says they said they are to busy. Isay you know you need a lift and alot more tools than that and he says I got no choice look at my tire, I do and the chords are showing:doh:. Then he says he made an appointment a week ago and now they are to busy. I see he has a RSTD and think that is the same as my Venture so to heck with these guys we,re taking this bike to my garage and doing this thing. So we load his parts in my truck and head for the garage. One hour later we are back to the dealer for a new tire and rear bake pads and heading back to the garage to put it all back together. One more hour and the drive shaft is greased with moly 60, the brakes are cleaned and installed and the tire is back on and properly torqued. Now just so everyone knows the info to do all this came from this site and all the guys who gave step by step instructions (and pictures:cool10:) should pat themselves on the back because without them this would not have happened. Dave said ( I think his name was Dave) thanks when he left so I thought I should pass the thanks on to you guys on this site for your effort to put the info on here without which we would still be sitting there cursing the dealer. Ride safe.
23. I just installed a new Firestik antenna and fold down bracket. I am in the garage and cannot get reception on either the radio or CB. I can hear static in the speakers. Is the problem that I am inside the garage?
24. After 10 years my rear shock finally dumped its contents. Wasnt even riding the bike.....It was sitting in the garage when the first drop hit the floor. And I was sitting in the garage looking at its first drop of fluid hit the concrete. It was such an unholy experience, realizing just how much a new shock will be. However, Bushwacker, who triked his 06 had the old one and sold it to me for a reasonable price. It arrived today and hopefully ill have it in Sunday morn. Still deciding if I want to do the leveling links. Hmmm, maybe while its up ill do............
25. well, went and looked at my soon to be venture royale today! here's a couple pics.(click to zoom) http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh131/seuadr/P1030454_800x600.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh131/seuadr/P1030456_800x600.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh131/seuadr/P1030457_800x600.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh131/seuadr/P1030458_800x600.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh131/seuadr/P1030455_800x600.jpg even the puppy likes it! I'm not sure of the year, stupid me didn't look at the title. it's been garaged in a heated climate controlled garage approx 2000-2001 sometime. A friend of mine bought it, rode it for three months, parked it for the winter, and it's sat there ever since. Wonderful luck it was a climate controlled garage, though! he fogged the tank and carbs after draining them.. we put some gas in it and a brand new battery and volia, started and revved just fine. now, i know that the brakes need rebuilding, and the right hand cover has some broken tabs to fix, the hydrolic clutch master and slave i am sure should be drained and cleaned and/or rebuilt, as well as the tires replaced. I didn't test ride it, so i'm not sure how it'll do on the road, might have to clean up the carbs, might get lucky with some seafoam since he fogged them, who knows. seems to be an 86 if i am understanding the colour chart here on the website right? anyone confirm? looks just like the pic of the first series, but clearly says 1300 on the cases. It did blink a warning light a few times on accessories, but i've been reading about those issues and am pretty confident i can fix them. radio, air suspension, and all the dash, all the lights and accessores i tested worked great, except a rear turnsignal. i'm pretty stoked, its gonna come home to me as soon as i get my tax credit for the house ( should be any day now, but it is moving at the speed of goverment. best part, i got it out the door for 1200, and that includes 2 1/2 hours one way drive delivery!
