  1. Okay folks. Yesterday I posted the video that my brother did of our 2010 ride. He just FTPd the 2009 ride video to me, and with his gracious consent - here it is. Only three of us that year as we had all intended to get together on the New South Wales North Coast at Brunswick Heads but heavy rains and floods made the roads impassable. We did get there in 2010 - that's the 2010 video. Instead we headed to Tamworth where it was reasonably dry and we visited out sister. This year, she did a five days ride with us to Bunya Mountains in Queensland. That video is yet to come. As they say in the classics, "Watch this space." Enjoy. (Designed to be viewed 16:9, but YouTube defaults it to 4:3. Bit squashed!) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ga7KybWqsMw]YouTube - ‪2009 Weekend Family Bike Ride‬‏[/ame]
  2. Greetings all. I've posted in the past about our family get togethers down-under. This video is the result of a lot of work by one of my brothers. Only four of us made it in 2010. All six made it this year. (To be posted when done.) Enjoy. Spear [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9wtjv9i3fg]YouTube - ‪A Family Biker Weekend‬‏[/ame]
  3. Just some pic's hope they turned out OK. Special thanks to Freebird for opening his home to all of us, Great host.... Thanks Don & Family
  4. I won't be able to attend MD this year and bring Mic-Mutes kits with me, due to my wife making other plans for me. I'd rather be with you than at this family picnic :>( If your interested in Mic-Mutes, get in touch ASAP and I'll have it shipped to Freebird's. There will be plenty of folks there to help with installations. 412-787-1182
  5. Would you please ask Greta to grab a bucket of water and throw it on that volcano and put it out...Taters is getting a little nervous about comming over ! :fnd_(16):ps ... All kidding aside..Is Greta and the family ok?

  7. A very dear friend and long time hunting and fishing companion just passed away at 5:30 PM. I wanted to get to see him one more time, but the Lord called him home today. Please remember the family of brother Bill Rose from Mansfield, Ohio. His son Jerry is just like my own brother to me. Please remember us all in your prayers. Fuzzy http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fobit.wappner.com%2Fobitdisplay.html%3Fid%3D932820%26listing%3DCurrent&h=1fcb1 In Memory Of My Dear Friend. Bill was a very dear friend to me. Treated me so that I felt that I was family. A great individual whom I will always cherish in my life. He taut me so very much through the yrs that I knew him. I loved him deeply and will always remember the trips to lake Erie, the stops to get ice cream on the way home, the goggle eyes we caught together, the times that he didn't rub it in when he caught all the fish. The gapping Bill called it (Yawning) in the mornings and when we where so tired from getting up so early, to do what we loved. The hours we spent riding and talking together in the early hours of morning just to climb into a stand and sometimes get a glimpse of the old biggin. The fishing baits he gave me. The times he would lend me a rifle (Thunder Stick) or shotgun to hunt when I could not afford one. The arrows and broad-heads he gave me to get a biggin. The honey he gave me that he and Angeline worked so hard to take care of and then would not let me pay him for it. The time he drove me (both of us dressed in camouflage) to the hospital to get a thorn out of my hand, that I could not get out. Then we went straight on to the deer woods. The phone calls he would make to me just to see how I was doing and to check on my wife. I always think of Bill and his family as being my family. We love you all. WE LOVE YOU BILL AND HOPE TO MEET YOU IN THE WOODS OR ON THE LAKE OF GOD'S GREAT HEAVEN.. Fuzzy
  8. A week or so back, I had been planning a great 3-day May long weekend ride/getaway ... just myself! Weatherman was forecasting decent weather... in fact, for the past 3 days it's been awesome! Nina and her daughters were taking off to Penticton in our truck for a reunion with family friends from long before my time. I had the whole weekend to myself and I was just gonna RIDE! Until this ..... [ATTACH]56702[/ATTACH] :crying: :crying: Yep... I'll have a nice weekend to myself ... ALL ALONE AT HOME! and what's worse, no cage to drive.
  9. If there were any justice, it’s about time this happened... YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2010 when... 1. You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.. 2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years. 3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of 3. 4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you... 5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don't have e-mail addresses 6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries. 7. Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen. 8. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it. 10. You get up in the morning and go online before getting your coffee. 11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. : ) 12. You're reading this and nodding and laughing. 13. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message. 14. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list. 15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list. AND NOW U R LAUGHING AT YOURSELF Go on, forward this to your friends. You know you want to.
  10. Listed the 09 RSV for sale. Something more important then a bike has come up. Priorities indicate bike has to go bye bye. It stinks, but family always comes first. Never got to ride it yet really. I think I put maybe 50 miles on it . Ooh well. When things straighten out Ill just get another one. As I said Family first........always and above anything else.
  11. I'm sure most of you, like me are following all the coverage of the Japanese earthquake & tsunami aftermath to one degree or another. That first day or so, I was transfixed watching the severity of the devastation inflicted on Japan and it's people. I was floored by the numbers---the specs., if you will about the quake itself and the crustal shift, etc. But, I noticed that through all of it (or at least most of it) that the spirit of the Japanese people shown through...they were relatively calm, orderly, patient, controlled and typically disciplined even in the face of adversity. I was humbled to witness that, knowing from our experiences with Katrina and the BP disaster what a lack of calm and discipline looks like. I was proud of them, proud for them; that led me, more than any thing else (I think), to pray more earnestly than I have about a lot of things in quite a while. Which brings me to the situation which spawned the title of this post and the need to write about it. I was watching the 6:00 or 7:00 pm news today and a small newscrew & reporter (Diane Sawyer I think it was) was in a pretty heavily devastated area, when they came upon a small family of Japanese sitting outside, eating. What got to me, almost instantly when I saw it, was the father stood up, half bowing in usual Japanese fashion and offered the newspeople part of their food..................... They were sitting there with nothing but utter devastaion as far as the eye could see; surrounded by the rubble of their world as they had known it. They didn't have a lot of food, and yet, out of their need and their lack they offered part of what they had to this western news crew, in their fine western clothing; any of whom probably made more in a week than that man did in a year. I choked and teared up, not for the man and his family, though life will be a challenge for the forseable future for them, I cried not for them, but for us. This little Japanese man, this family, this people deserve EVERY last bit of respect we have to give; every last bit of help we can render and EVERY prayer we can muster. By all accounts, it is going to take years for Japan to recover from this disaster, which isn't entirely over yet! So, I will pray daily for Japan, for this man and his family, who offered of his meager meal and I will imagine that every Japanese person affected by this tragedy is just like him proud yet humble, friendly, giving selfless (whether the rest really are or not isn't important) I want to think of them all in that way and pray my very best prayers for them and hope against hope that a little bit of the little man rubs off on all of us! There is still hope!
  12. For some reason that I can't explain I have been asked to delete the pic originally posted, and remove it from my family file. Sorry. Still proud of him...
  13. As of today, my very patient wife and I have made to 34 years of marriage. It has been a very rough last couple of years for the both of us...losing jobs and family members. But we are stronger now than we have ever been. Thank You Jesus!!! Now look out world. Here we come with the next 30+ years!!!
  14. Hi everyone, my parents 50th wedding anniversary is in April and me my brother and sisters are at a loss as to what to get them. They have 4 kids 3 married 1 divorced (I had to be different) 7 grandkids 1 married and 1 great granddaughter who cries everytime she sees me.....must be the beard and long hair.....yeah thats it. I was thinking of something with all of our names and maybe birthstones or something along those lines. We are a very tight family and see each other almost weekly which is why I was thinking of something not only celebrating 50 years of putting up with each other but also celebrating the family that started with them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. By the way they do not wear jewelry. Thanks Mark
  15. Black Owl has a thread titled Special Activites Fund (SAF) that was started in December. Now for those of you who don't know Russ, he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Russ doesn't ask very much from this family, and yet he gives 10 times back. He's asking for a small donation, anything, to help. When we have a Venture family member pass away, he's the one that sends flowers, etc. He's had to bump that thread several times, and he's asking for our help. He's not asking for much from you, just a little. So far, there hasn't been the response that I would have thought. I know Russ does a lot for this family, and a lot of times, it comes out of his own pocket and no one ever knows about. I hope he isn't upset with me, but I'm down on one knee begging you to help him out. So,....even if it's only a buck or two, maybe $5.00 even $10.00.....it would sure be nice to show him a little appreciation for all he does. Thanks in advance for any help! Deb

  19. So another year is drawing to a close. There have been some good times and bad times during 2010. I wish I could say that it was the best year ever but for many folks, it simply wasn't. We had some members with serious health issues, some that lost jobs, others that lost loved ones and still others that saw long lasting relationships come to an end. I've had my own share of problems but I need only to look around to realize that I don't have it so bad. I have so many things to be thankful for. I have a secure job, a roof over my head, plenty of food. I have a family that loves me and that includes a wife that is so lovely and sweet that I thank God for her every day of my life. I hope that she NEVER comes to realize how much better she could do than me. One more thing though, and I am so very serious about this. I am so thankful for the family that we have become here. Let's face it folks, some days are better than others. We all have a bad day from time to time but when those days come around, I can always come here....here to my extended family...and there will be something that makes me smile. It could be some good natured teasing, a stupid joke, an act of kindness that one of you has shown to another.....many things here bring a smile to my face on a daily basis. I wish each and every one of you a Very Merry Christmas. I thank you for the joy that you have brought to my life and I thank you so much for being a VentureRider member. If it weren't for each of you....who the heck would read this?
  20. Merry Christmas from the B2 family... B2dad and I want to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope Santa is good to you this year and wish there was a new Venture in everyone's stocking..or under your tree...wherever it fits. LOL! But mostly thank you for sharing your thoughts, prayers, problems, solutions and stories with us this past year. We have enjoyed the meets and get togethers all over this great country of ours and the friendship that has come with it. This is truly a wonderful family and we are so glad you have let us be a part of it this year. Here's hoping to a better 2011 for all of you and hope to meet you down the road for some more great food and friendship. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Don and Patti
