  1. It made a big difference:thumbsup2: ....bled and changed the fluid, and now the clutch feels like it engages better? (more solid feel , to it). it was just over 3 yrs old. anybody else experience this?
  2. any of you ever try a concealed carry holster called the "cell Pal"? I checked the site and it looks like it might be very useful...just wanted to see if anyone has any experience with it. http://www.concealedcomfort.com/index.html

I don't know if this has been posted before but I just recvered my copy and thought you might like the reading. Information to Ponder Counter Steering: If you push the left bar, the bike goes left. If you push the right bar, the bike goes right. That is, unless you keep pushing the right bar all the way, then you will probably go left while the bike swaps ends. Crashing: Remember riding isn't inherently dangerous...crashing is. The Sidelines: It's always better to be on the sidelines wishing you were on the track than on the track wishing you were on the sidelines. Fuel: The ONLY time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. The Rear Wheel: The rear wheel is just a big fan used to keep the rider cool and his butt relaxed. If in doubt... watch. When it locks up or slides out you can actually see the rider start sweating and pucker marks are left on the seat. Too Slow: No one has ever hit something too slow. Rides: A 'good' ride is one you can walk away from. A 'great' ride is one you can walk away from and use the bike again. Getting Hit: They can't hit you if you're not there. Mistakes: Learn from the mistakes of others. You won't live long enough to make all of them yourself. Traction: When traction is sparse, the probability of survival is inversely proportional to the angle of lean. Large angle of lean, small probability of survival and vice versa. Your Brain: Never let a motorcycle take you somewhere your brain didn't go five seconds earlier. Fog: Stay out of fog. The single red taillight you think is another rider ahead that you can catch, might be the red starboard light of a docked boat. Parking: Always try to keep the number of times you park the bike equal to the number of times you've ridden it. Luck & Experience: You start with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck Mirrors: If all you can see in your mirrors is the direction you were previously traveling intermingled with sparks, and all you can hear is commotion from the passenger riding pillion; things are not at all as they should be. Other Objects: In the ongoing battle between objects made of metal, rubber and plastic going dozens of miles per hour, and the ground going zero miles per hour, the ground has yet to lose. Same holds for cars, trucks, walls and most animals. Draws don't count. Judgment: Good judgment comes from experience. Unfortunately, experience usually comes from bad judgment. Going Forward: It's always a good idea to keep the headlight end going forward as much as possible. Looking: Keep looking around. There's always something you've missed. Laws: Remember, gravity and centrifugal force are not just good ideas. They're laws not subject to repeal.
  5. Don finally let me drive the bike, on the way home, pulling the trailer. Woo Hoo!! I actually got it out of 3rd gear. Actually, I got it in 4th AND 5th gear and got it up to 66 mph. Wow! It felt great (after a few minutes of stomach churning and nerves going over the edge). Then there was Don riding behind me and telling me how uncomfortable the passenger seat was. I also didn't realize how much heat comes off the engine on my legs. Will definitely wear long pants and shoes next time I drive. I drove it the last 30 miles to our house and it was quite an experience. I can't wait to drive it to work now...but Don says I have to have more experience before he will let me take it on the highway, which is how I go to work. Will post update when that happens. Anyway..I am in awe of all you female drivers out there. This is great! I was thinking I would just drive it "in case" something happened...but maybe I will look at some bikes. Hmmmmm....
  6. If you're in Knoxville, TN. You have to come to the bike rally and ride one of these. It's like a religious experience! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v153/eazyduzzit/329d384b.jpg
  7. Has anyone seen these trunks or have any experience with one. The price is right. Thoughts, comments requested. Thanks http://iphone.ebay.com/Member/G/ViewItem.aspx?aid=320541145259&tid=556488520011&emvcc=0:fingers-crossed-emo
  8. Has anyone tried these type brake pads on their Venture?? They're ceramic. One of my friends has a Goldwing and he tried them and said the squeal. Anyone else had similar experience?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-XVZ-1300-Royal-Star-Venture-99-09-Brake-Pads-/280513806134?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item414fecff36
  9. I have only started looking and found the HJC IS-16 interesting. Has anyone an opinion on one of these that had worn one? One thing is a I noticed a year ago while skiing is that I develop anxiety with those close fitting sunglasses after about 10 minutes. I am wondering if I will experience the same thing with this helmet. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31%2BqLIkovnL._SL500_AA300_.jpg The attached image will give you an idea of the glasses I had a problem with. Dunno if it has to do with the curvature of the lens or not.
  10. Anybody have any experience with these? I wear a half-helmet and these look like a really good option, but would like some feedback or reviews before I spend the bucks, if possible. http://wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail.php?categoryid=244&pgroupid=26740&goto=%2Fpgroup_list%2Felectronics%2F244_goldwing_Headset%2Fdes%2F
  11. Anybody have any experience with this tire. Not asking if this is the best only asking if anyone has any experience with this tire. I already know about Avon's and Dunlop E3's but know nothing about this tire.
  12. i have nerve damage to left hand and significant strength loss as well. i would like the collective experience of you all help me decide the best course of action. let me preface by saying i really don't want an automatic clutch setup (at least not now). i can probably adjust the lever to where it actuates much closer to the grip, thereby reducing the length of stroke required to engage/disengage the clutch - does anyone see a drawback or potential long term problem with that? i know there is a ton of knowledge & experience in this group and i am counting on you guys & gals to get me back on my bike ......and thanks a ton in advance. buz
  13. "patience my a$$, ... " Rained out two days this week and Tuesday it took me 10 hours to do 3 hrs of work. And it's not even winter yet! Temper is getting a bit shorter so the lack of progress on the chair is annoying. The trike shop that is "helping" me build the mounting hardware for the EL is sooo slow, and they aren't exactly booming with work. The owner, an engineer, has spend more time to do a CAD drawing of the set up and now, a full day of research on leaning sidecars (including patent searches), then he has builing the blasted sub-frame/mounts. It took me 30 minutes with some leftover lumber to determine what is possible while he took a full day to say it couldn't. Now he's researching how other leaners hook up, when all he needed to do was contact the guy I bought it from (who has almost a decade experience with leaners!) Even his fabricators says he tends to overanalyze everything! I know, good in one sense, but they have no experience with sidecars, so even I know more, but he won't listen. Send him an E-mail stating what I want him to do, no answer; ...(yet). And on top of that his shop man is going on his honeymoon next week, so unless they did anything usefull on the frame today, it's going to somewheres around the end of the month! Aaarrrgghh!! I'm going to kill something now .....
  14. Just wondering what your experience is with the Progressive Suspension Air Fork Balance Kit. 1) How long have you had them? 2) Have you had any trouble with them leaking? 3) Would you buy them again? 4) If you are not using this kit how do you manage to balance your front fork air pressure or do you leave it at “0”?
  15. are needed for a kumho tire ( 165/80R15 ) ? Anybody have any experience with this yet ?
  16. Noticed a funny odor coming from my bike...I discovered fuel leaking from the over flow tube from the right rear carb... Anybody have any experience dealing with this type of problem? (and how to fix) Thanks
  17. I guess another big question I have before I purcahse a RSV is service after the sale at the dealership. I have narrowed it down to two dealers in my area out of three. All took me on a tour of their maintenance shops; two were well organized and clean and one was anything but. How have they treated your bike while in for a service? For example: Is it usually a good experience because the job was done right and returned in decent shape? Or is your Bike covered with oil and handprints? Scratched or dented? Left out in the rain? Used your bike as a demo? (not funny--heard of this happening) Fixed right the first time? Maybe I am too picky because I like to keep it clean and in good running order.
  18. I wonder if anyone, anywhere has done anything about getting a ban on these things or lobbying to change how they do this. Recent readings in here as well as my own experience ... it's obvious that these things, especially in corners, are a "clear and present danger" to bikers all over.
  19. Hey all, Just to let everyone know who's planning the 2010 International Rally at Potato Creek. Leadwolf56, 93 Venture, Bummer, Freezyrider and Squidley. I will call on some others for help when needed. I also have offers of help from several people with rally experience. Our goal is to give everyone an enjoyable and memorable experience. We have a poll up to help us set a date. As soon as we have the date we'll get information out concerning camping, hotels, etc. We'll also get a registration page setup and get it on the calendar. I hope a lot of you can make it, it should be a very good time. Thank you to Freebird for the opportunity. http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/2972.htm
  20. Four of us are planning to travel from Nebraska to Phoenix in early November trailering our motorcycles on a flatbed trailer. Does anyone have any experience or advice for doing this?
  21. The new law requiring the use of hands-free cellular accessories in Ontario takes effect next month and as a result I am investigating the various Bluetooth car kits available. Does anyone have any experience or comments on any of the models available? Not looking to open a discussion about the law...asking about the equipment.

    New Tires

Hello all, I bought a new 09 RSV a few motnhs ago. I have put 6,000 miles on it and would like to impove upon the ride, so I have been reading your posts on the Elite 3's and the Avon Venum's. Can anyone tell me their experience with both tires, how they handle in the rain, and the overall performance as compared to the stock 404's?
  23. Okay folks. I just killed the thread on the Sns of Silenc. Although there was nothing wrong with the initial thread talking about the experience, some folks have to jump in and start sending it south. So it's dead.
  24. just got an email back from cycle gadgets. they are donating a gift certificate for the drawing, and i'm working on having them send a rep. over on tuesday and wed. to help people with info on electrical stuff. we will have rides over to thier awesome store. it is a real not to miss experience. you will not believe it when you get there. an awesome ride out in the middle of the woods and the nicest folks you will ever meet. bill
  25. Help! I broke the CB antenna off. I wanted to just loosen the nuts and lower the antenna, so a bike cover would fit without cutting holes in it. The nuts were really tight, probalby corroded in place. I guess that I just put too much pressure on the wrenches and snapped the antenna off. Just a very sad experience! Does anyone have one for sale now or know where I can find one? Looks bad without it too! Thank You! Nemo.
