  1. Did a search and didn't see where anyone has discused these so thought I would, as my first attempt at a contribution to this fine site. Found these poking around the web at http://r-markventures.blogspot.com/ Thought they looked like great idea. Then a few days later I ran acrossed them again on Ebay. So, I thought, what the heck. They're an affrodable upgrade and amkes easy cleaning and maintenance, especially nice if you had to get them off on the side of the road for any reason. So I ordered them and got immediate response and even a personal email thanksing me for the order! They were delivered quickly in two days. http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Trials/R%20Mark/20080404_4.jpg They are basically just your 4mm saddlebag bolts with a intregal plastic knurled or scalloped handle on them. So no tools are required to remove or intall the bags. They seem to tighten down adequately by hand on my installation tonight. So all that is left, is to ride and double check them for awhile to make sure they stay good and tight, which it appears they will. Here is what they look like installed. http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Trials/R%20Mark/20080404_7.jpg http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Trials/R%20Mark/20080404_9.jpg
  2. It's official spring is here. I have just received my annual 1-2 punch from mother nature. Allergies have me down for the weekend but it happens every year. After this is over in a few days I can think about getting the scoots out. I go through this every spring and fall.Guess I got to take sick leave for something. Forecast better days ahead.:cool10:
  3. In Mobile we have had three bikers killed in two days. Two of them, the car driver turned in front of the bike and kill the riders. The other one this afternoon was killed while trying to pass a truck on a two lane road and the truck made a left turn as the bike was trying to pass. I have contacted my state representative for a law for safety programs for both motorcycles and awareness programs for car drivers. The first biker was killed by an 82 year old. Problemly could't see well enough to drive. Please drive safe and watch out for the other person. ttew47
  4. A out of state scam artist operating in his home town decided to go big time. He purchased or stole about 20+ chainsaws all of the same make and model and sold them on Ebay. When I purchased mine his feedback rating was excellent over 98% and he had sold these saws for about 1 month. I read the other buyers feedback reviews and they were all happy with their saws still new in the box but expressed a slow 2-3 week delivery delay. The individual was selling about 10-15 saws every weekend and receiving payment via paypal. About 10 days after I purchased my saw and still waiting for that email and tracking number from the seller something went very wrong. I noticed the sellers feedback rating was dropping and negative reviews were pouring in over no communication and no saws received.Within two days I filed a complaint with Ebay as my communications attempts went unanswered.Within 3 days Ebay settle up my financial losses and shut down the sellers account. The policed dept handling the investigation has apprehended the individual awaiting trial. Apparently he sold his shipment of saws about three times. Ebay treated me more then fairly and I bought a better saw then the one I never received.:cool10::cool10:I have been doing business on Ebay many years and will continue to do so.One of my biggest issues is the seller claimed to be a Christian business.
  5. Not long ago, I saw a website/post on an LED light strip that mounts in the gap between the trunk lid and the passenger back rest. I've been looking online for the past two days without any success. Can anyone help? Has anyone come across that? Can someone post a link or point me in the right direction? Thanks.
  6. Heard a Gang of Hardleys going up the road today. Spring can't be far away. 60's and sunshine. How come the sun only shines on days I have to work???Warmer temps coming...
  7. I have owned my VR for a long time and I have always had a problem with the radio stations not staying in memory. Granted there are times that I do not ride for long periods of time, so if the battery goes dead I would understand it. However if I don't ride it for several days, I must reprogram the stations. It has been like this since the first time I bought it back in the late 80's. Is this a common problem, and is there a fix for it?
  8. We've only got a couple of days left to order Odyssey Batteries. For details.
  9. 3 MC's down in 3 days While coming back from Home Depot two days ago I passed by an accident scene where a kid on a 'crotch rocket' had gone down. Ambulances were on the scene. The rider looked like he was OK, but with a bandaged up right ankle and sitting on the curb. I shook my head and kept going. The next day we had a fatality involving a MC in a pile up out on Hwy 65 north. Then this morning I heard about this one on the radio down in Vallejo. http://www.timesheraldonline.com/ci_7997794?source=most_viewed Are all these kids brain dead???
  10. I'm looking for chrome front disc brake covers for my 2007 RSV just like the ones on the bike, but chromed instead of polished. I know Yamaha made some back in the old Royal Star days. I haven't ran accross any yet. I could have the ones on the bike removed and chrome, but I don't want the hassle. Any help?
  11. I'm looking at buying a 2006 RSV from a car/cycle shop (not a Yamaha dealer). The original owner traded it in a few months ago. I've been told the bike is still under warranty until 2011...not sure exactly what all is covered but... I just read in the online owners manual that the bike must be inspected and reregistered thru an authorized Yamaha dealer...and must be done within 10 days after transfer of ownership to the subsequent purchaser. So does that mean 10 days after I purchase it? What about when the dealer purchased it from the original owner & didn't have it inspected/reregistered? The other problem is the bike is 2000 miles away from me. If I buy it, I'll have it stored at a friends place for a few months before I can pick it up. So I won't have it to take it to a Yamaha dealer within 10 days. Is this all saying that I won't have a warranty?
  12. Just wanted to let you all know that though I've not posted much over the past few days, I am keeping up with all thats going on. I caught some sort of winter bug and have been down for a few days. Running a high temperature, congestion, ear infection.....all that goes along with it. Had a flu shot a few weeks ago so don't think it's the flu but something has sure put a whuppin on me. Haven't been to the doctor but may go today....probably not though. I actually think that MAYBE I'm feeling a bit better this morning so hopefully maybe I'm starting to come out of it.
  13. the days are now getting longer and longer. RandyA
  14. I just received word that our VentureRider Guardian Bells are being shipped to me today. That means that I should have them in a two or three days and will then get them shipped out to you ASAP.

    Need Advice.

I got a buyer for my 86 VR, full price [$4400] if I hold it until spring [no problem] eBay Item # 110201753639. Almost the same ad as in our classifieds here. He wants proof that i have this scoot in my possession. He is a few states away & auction ends in 2 days. I have 100% (23) rating since Dec 02 with eBay, but he is wise to be cautious. How do i prove this by email or phone? Any Ideas?

    Anyone want a Venture?

No no, I ain't giving one away. Lets venture down to Houma LA and soak up the warm for a couple of days. Thinking about leaving within the next 7 days, heading south through Montgomery and on down through Mobile, then on to Houma. Cold beer and mud bugs await, lots of warm temps and even Cycle world is there. Who interested?
  17. My mom and dad had a dream to go on an Alaskan cruise and then dad passed away about 10 years ago. Well, mom never made it so I decided I would take her myself. I'm looking for a package for 2 people. Leave sometime in June-Aug total of 7-9 days. Mom needs a handicapped room beings she don't get around very well anymore. Any information would be appreciated. God Bless, Ride safe. Mike
  18. I am beginning to plan our next big ride for next year and we think Utah will be the destination. There will probably be 3 to 5 bikes with 6 to 9 people. Those of us that choose to ride from KY will meet those that want to fly in Las Vegas. From there we'll head to Utah. At a minimum we will want to visit Bryce Canyon, Zion and Arches national parks. Is it possible to visit these locations out of a central location or will we need to ride some type of loop? We would like to stay a few of days in one place if possible instead of changing hotels daily. Is there a location that we could stay for a couple of days and take in Zion and Bryce and then move to Moab for a couple of days to take in Arches? I've put together a loop route but, since we are not familiar with the area, I am concerned we may need to overnight in some pretty desolate areas which may not have hotels. Therefore, I am seeking advice on how best to see Utah. How many days should we need? Any recommendations on lodging, sites, etc. We'll most likely visit in late May or early June. Thanks, Dennis
  19. Got home around midnight last night. Good to be home again. I tell you, I still travel a lot but I don't fly that much and am REALLY happy about that. The airports are just WAY to busy now days.

    8 Days, not 15 Weeks!!

Now that I have gotten attached to Crickett, have started fixing her up a bit, I ordered a new tinted windshield from Cee Baily, just put it on. Took only 8 days to get it. Not 15 weeks like the other one was going to take. Windshield is nice, appears to be great quality, tinted......hits me just below eye level...perfect!! Try Cee Baily if you need a new shield. Kit
  21. Mine is working 10 hours a day, 5 days a week around the house with No Pay......:rotfl::rotfl:
  22. OK folks...if you look at my avatar and other information on this post, you will see a note that says "VenturRider Meets Attended". I received a request from Jeff and Beer30 asking if I could add something like the "Awards" system to show how many eat and meets, rallies, maintenance days, etc. that a member has attended. This is a far cry from what they asked for but is the best I can do at this moment. I will try, in the future, to come up with something closer to what they really wanted. At any rate, this will work on the honor system. All you need to do is click on UserCP and then Edit Profile. At the very bottom of the page you will find a box to select how many VentureRider meets and eats, rallies, maintenance days you have showed up for. I just put 20 in there for now but can increase it if and when I need to. Heck, some of you may have already made more than 20. If so, just let me know. Sorry Jeff and Beer, but this will have to do for now and takes the pressure off me and/or the moderators for adding this info. I will try to make it fancier some time soon.
  23. Gasoline jumped 20 cents today. Were back to $3.05 for unleaded.Oil at $93 a barrel how many days till $100? The well tenders around here are driving pickups with V10's go figure.
  24. Well almost. Picked up my 04 Venture from just north of Brisbane, Queensland and rode it back home across Australia to my hometown of Perth. I did the trip in 4 days for a total of 4,780 kilometres or 2,968 miles. The bike ran perfectly with nothing coming loose or worse falling off (including me). I kept a record of all my fuel stops and my gas useage worked out at 38 mpg U.S. 45 mpg Imperial 16 kms/litre I pretty much kept to the speed limit and probably sat on around 70 mph. Saw plenty of wildlife on the road to avoid including - kangaroos, mobs of wild goats, emus, cows, wombats even a dingo and an echidna. Never having ridden a Venture before I can say I am very pleased with the bikes performance. I did notice that on some road surfaces there was a lot of road noise coming from the tyres and setting up a loud resonance thru the fairing at certain speeds. The bike is fitted with Bridgestones. Is there a more quiet tyre or is this normal? Also, I notice the tyres have a very high profile. Is it possible to lower the bike a little by fitting tyres with a lower profile? All in all I am very happy and would do the trip again but at a more leisurely pace.
  25. Well, we launched the shuttle again this morning and are currently camped in Berlin OH. I guess we'll explore Amish country for a couple of days before heading further south. We're hoping to get to the Roanoke Valley and see some fall colours and do some riding in the mountains.
