  1. We are going to be leaving from St Louis area Thursday on our way to Freebird's place for maintenance day. Anyone else going to be one the road in the area that day? We plan on taking 2 days, getting there sometime Friday. Let me know if anyone wants riding company.
  2. Went for a nice ride today. Daughter rode with me, wife on her bike and the neighbors joined us. Had to get on the brakes hard once and noticed the pedal pulsing under my foot so I tried to stay off the rear brake. Got home and removed the rear caliper. The inside pad was down to the metal. 23,000 on these original pads. Is that good, bad, average? So of course this has to occur after all dealers are closed, on a holiday weekend. can't do anything until Tuesday. I hope it rains for the next few days.
  3. This is my favorite national park I have been here twice before and I will be back again. If I could only go to one national park this would be it. This park is special to me because of the animals I like to see wildlife and there is no other place I have ever been that has the wildlife like yellowstone. There is something very exciting about riding a scooter through a heard of buffalo that I can't explain. we were going to stay for 3 days and wound up staying for 7 days wolfie still did not want to leave.
  4. A friend of mine that some of y'all know, Chris, who rides a Road Glide, called the other day and said "I ran into a friend of yours." Chris drives a Life Flight Helicopter out of Hugo Oklahoma; he works 15 days on and 15 days off. He commutes from Atlanta. He was on his way to work Saturday (a 12 hour trip) and called to say that he stopped in a little town in western Arkansas for a bite at a KFC. The grilled chicken hasn't made it that far west, by the way. This town was so small that he said the WalMart should have a historic plaque proclaiming it the smallest WalMart in the world. As he pulled in and parked for some yard bird, 2 bikes pulled in. One was a Harley and the other was a Kawasaki Voyager. He said he parked and walked in as the bikes went around and stopped on the other side. He walked thru' and out the other side and said to the Kawi rider "You sure are an ugly old fart!". He said Lowell looked at him like "I know you but can't call your name", that was ok 'cause Chris couldn't remember LA's name either. They spent about a 1/2 hour having lunch and talkin' (read: telling lies! ). It sure is a small world when two friends can meet by accident at a Colonel Buckets hundreds of miles from their respective homes!!! The Ambassador is on the road again!
  5. Hey Guys, I'm going to out of pocket for a while, starting yesterday. Right now I'm in Denver with my Mom & sister to attend my yougest brother's wedding and won't be back until after Memorial Day the 26th. Then the following week I'm taking off with Goose and Ponch to ride up to Ohio for Don's workday, where the Butt Butler is going to reworking seats. Then I'm back for about 10 days before I take a group up to Spearfish for say 10 days. So this means I really won't be back for any length of time until July 1st. But I'll be checking my e-mail and posts while I'm out so I won't be completely out communications. I've told everyone that has contacted me recently about this, but just wanted everyone else to be informed. So if you think you can get me your seat durung one of the 2 periods I'm back, I'll get it out to you ASAP. However if you can wait, get with me after July 1st. Thanks, Rick
  6. If you find yourself passin through or near Lawton Oklahoma, me and my wife would love to show you through the Wichita Mountains and Mt. Scott. Then head over to Medicine Park for some grub!! We also have an extra room if someone rides from far away and needs a place to crash. Just email us in advance maybe a couple of days so we can make sure we are here. Army has me busy 6 days a week so gettin to go far is hard for us to do, but we love to ride. Thanks, Shane n Linda
  7. Hey what are the good roads to ride around Branson. I'll be there next week for a few days. We're doing this cause Mama gets tired after a few miles.
  8. First off, thanks to everyone who offed a warm welcome to the site and very good advise before I pulled the trigger on this 03 Venture. I got it home Friday and worked on it all weekend, moving what I could from my vStar to the Venture. Have a few more things to do but it's pretty great as it is. Unfortunetly we are forecasted for 5 straigt days of rain. It was raining when I shot this so its a garage video for now [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkvDf9ZdYSQ]YouTube - 2003 Yamaha Royal Star Midnight Venture[/ame]
  9. In the old days this would be funny,,,,,,,,,, today, just plain TRUE http://home.att.net/~hideaway_today/t133/noah.htm
  10. Only 2 days left on this auction. Money needs to go to freebird and when he lets me know that he has received the money then I will ship it out. Winner will need to PM me your address and I will have it ready to ship out. thanks
  11. :fingers-crossed-emoAuction ends on April 10 Freebirds going to be out of work for a while due to illness so lets try to help this website. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/1862/cat/20
  12. Just an FYI on my most recent order from Southwest Moto Tire in Tucson, Arizona. I have ordered from them many times before and always received the tires within 2-3 days (standard free shipping). I always considered this fantastic service. I just placed an order for three tires last Wednesday - Fed-ex shipping confirmation estimates delivery NEXT Wednesday - full 7 days. May not be too bad, but it is a far cry from what I have come to expect from SWMT. Can't say if this is due to the new owners or just a strange set of circumstances, but thought I'd at least share the info. Goose

    Sirius

Well last year i bought a new sirius radio and after 3 days in the car took it out would not work and could not get logged in on the computer to them to listen so turned it off and i have no idea why but it sat in a corner and was not tossed out anyways back to today today i get a letter from sirius telling me they would like to have me back and i can have 15 days free that my radio will work and if id like i can also have an additional 3 months for the low low price of One Dollar Yep thats right one buck! so i found all the stuff and hooked it up to the bike turned it on and it worked WOW!!! allmost through a whole song so i think i will give it a honest try so i went for a ride about 50 miles and yes it worked but not one song finished kept cutting out or stoping and some times it would even say looking for signal so on the way back home i moved the antena all over to try and get a better signal still no go even held it over my head still no sig. so when i got home you guessed it i took the cutters and cut the thing out of the bike and its now ready to return to them with a nice note and im going to call them tomarrow too just to let them know it will be returned and they dont even need to send my money back or any more letters to try and be nice to me offering free service just not worth it even for free SIRIUS JUNK!!! Dray
  14. I live in small town America. We used to ride our motorcycles into little league games. You had to be carefull. The other kids would turn up your idle screw so when you started your bike, it would be screaming. We did that to a fried of mine, he gave it a kickstart and it was in gear. The bike shot out from underneath him, and tried to climb the backstop. When it flipped over onto the ground the rear tire was spittin gravel all over everybody. Talk about funny, lucky nobody got hurt. The funny thing is 35 years ago you could do something like that and it was ok. That was neat, 3 or 4 of us had 90 cc kawasaki dirt bikes. Those were the days!!!
  15. Hate to admit it, but I'm afraid of bears. Hubby and I are going to Glacier then up to Banff this summer. Is it safe to tent it up there or would it be better booking rooms somewhere? Also, is 2 days in Banff enough to see the sites?
  16. Two friends and I abandoned Northern Indiana last Thursday, trailered bikes down to warmer climate, and rode over 1000 miles including the Keys. Great warm weather, and it was good to get back in the saddle, if even for just a few days. Can't wait for the Indiana weather to get through raining, snowing and start acting like it cares about letting us get back on the road again.
  17. what is the date of the litchfield appreciation days at the honda, yamaha dealer? thanks.
  18. OK....here's the thing. I've been smoke free now for 10 days. I decided to do this with no patches, gum, etc. Just cold turkey. The first day was really hard...the second day was really hard too. Then it seemed to started getting a bit easier. OR SO I THOUGHT! The past two days were absolutely BRUTAL. On Wednesday morning, I snuck a couple of cigarettes out of my wife's pack before leaving for work. Actually drove around for about 30 minutes with an unlit cigarette in my mouth and a lighter in my hand. I never lit it though. Ended up taking them home at the end of the day and put them back where I found them. Today it seemed to get a bit easier again. I keep hoping that I'm getting over the hump but only time will tell. I try to remind myself all the time that if I start back now, that means I've tortured myself for 10 days for nothing. I also try to remember all the money that I'm saving...believe it or not..that is about $350.00 per MONTH.....that's just crazy. I also try to remind myself that the doctor told me last week that the little stroke I had two weeks ago was just a gentle warning and I had BETTER quite smoking. It's amazing though how a little nicotine addiction can almost make all those arguments seem irrelevant. That's the other thing that I keep reminding myself of...that it is a drug addiction and I don't WANT to be a drug addict. So...I'm hanging in there. I know some of you are going through the same thing and just wanted to say....GOOD LUCK!!!! Let's be STRONG!!!
  19. I usually just lurk, but all of a sudden my 01 RSV decided it wanted to leak fuel through the left airbox. BTW, I changed the plugs, test road it and it was okay. Two days later I ride it and smell gas. Today I start it, turn it off, and fuel comes out of the airbox. Any suggestions? tx, Bob
  20. Well today wasnt the best day I have ever had at work.........I stepped on a rubber mat next to my CNC machine at work and as I did it slipped out from under me sending me to the floor landing on my arse.............didnt hurt when it happend, but it is starting to hurt up and down my back now..............This was preceded by me missing 2 days, Wed, & Thurs, due to my scitica bothering me so bad I could hardly walk, sit or move without being in complete agony. Dr. prescribed painkiller for me and that did the trick, today when I went to work I was painfree for the first time in two weeks and then this happens, I filled out an accicent report as soon as it happened and notified both supervisors that it happened, I have a feeling that when I go back to work Mon, the facility manager is going to make me go to the Dr, and get a release to work before he will let me back in the shop.........he has done that to me once already when I had carpal tunnel problem. Just took another pain pill to see if I can get rid of it, And today was the first day I rode my bike to work in 10 days............man life can sure be a drag.............
  21. I am going to be heading to Billings Montana for Star Days, leaving July 17th returning July 26th. I am "soliciting" possible routes to get there and head back (I would like to go there one route, come back another route) - planning three days to go there - 3 days to come back. Any ideas? While in Billings, we will ride the Beartooth, and probably hit Yellowstone with the group I am taking back there. Also, what type of weather issues might I run into that week? I have heard conflicting reports - great weather (could get warm) to hail / thundershower activity. I'm . Thanks for any suggestions and advise.

  23. Yamaha to close motorcycle production lines for 10 days January 19th, 2009 Responding to slumping sales Yamaha is following the road taken by several other manufacturers and cutting back on its motorcycle production and temporarily shutting some facilities. Japan's Yamaha Motor Co Ltd made the announcement on Friday, confirming it would cut output by halting production at 11 facilities amid the global economic slump. Yamaha said in a release it would stop production for seven to 10 days in February and March at facilities making motorcycles, recreational vehicles, marine sports vehicles, industrial robots and parts. 24. Ok, folks, I think that 15 days is dragging out the auction too long, so I am going to end the current auction Thursday, Jan., 15, 2009 at 7:00 pm eastern time. The high bidder at that time will be the winner and will be notified by pm. On Friday I will put up some more items like those for bidding and will put some multiple items together to make it more interesting. The auctions will run for 7 days from now on. Thanks:clap2: to all those that bid, and watch for the next auctions.
