  1. I took the plunge this week and bought a Wolo Chrome on ebay. Ad said used with minor scratches but seller deals almost exclusivley in horns and has good feedback, so I took a chance. Total cost shipped of just over $36. He still has some for sale - starting bid is $24.99. Here's one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AIR-HORN-WOLO-BAD-BOY-MODEL-519-CHROME-12-VOLT-/250624213524?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a5a5e0214 He also has the non-chrome starting at $19.99. Anybody here ever deal with this guy?
  2. I read somewhere on the fourm that the only real rule was to post pictures of your ride so I thought I would follow rules and show off tanto. I've had him for about a year and I don't know a whole lot about him, but I hope to learn some stuff here. It seems to me (from looking at other 96's) that theres quite a bit of aftermarket chrome on him, would I be right? And is are the seats and sissy bar stock or aftermarket? Also, I'm pretty sure those wheels are aftermarket right? Also I posted a picture of my other bike, which is a Suzuki Intruder 805 http://i917.photobucket.com/albums/ad19/fsatatkid/th_royalstar1.jpg http://i917.photobucket.com/albums/ad19/fsatatkid/th_royalstar2.jpg http://i917.photobucket.com/albums/ad19/fsatatkid/th_suzuki.jpg http://i917.photobucket.com/albums/ad19/fsatatkid/th_royalstar.jpg
  3. Does anyone know where I can order this wrap around backrest? I need it in the midnight version with the chrome billets.
  4. After waiting 2 months for my OEM Yamaha chrome rails, they came and boy, they were purdy. Trying to put them on was not. The ends of both, where they tapped, were wallowed out. not enough thread to get bolt started. Spent greater part of the the day trying to find a 5mm bolt 2 5/8" long(or millimeter equilivent. Finally got frustrated with the whole ordeal and bought (2)-5 mm nuts and mig welded them to the ends of the rails. Screwed BOLT with nut attached into end of rail first to ensure proper alignment. But I wasn't done yet, I had to drill holes in chrome fittings 1/16th bigger to line up with their origional threads in all 4 end caps and chamfer. Good thing I had a pair of soft jaws for my vise. I dont mind paying for quality but these Yamaha rails are anything but. Even the 45 degree angles? were serrated like someone machined them with a broken end mill. And NO, I was not about to send them back after waiting 2 MONTHS for them.
  5. The 83 I bought runs really great - but it has rust everywhere. Basically anything chrome is rusty. I am not sure how much to put into this bike. I checked Ebay and can find chrome pieces such as engine gaurds, stator cover, etc - but shipping is the huge killer. The frame even has rust on it - but not much I will do about that except clean up and paint a bit. So, anyone out here have any parts they want to sell and ship at a decent price?
  6. I try do do things to my skuter, that makes it a bit different from others... with that said, here is my latest addition in the "quest for more chrome" the lower fairing on the 2nd gens are made of a clear thick plastic, and they take quite a few hits with the bugs and rocks and such, and after a few years and a multitude of miles, they start to look a bit tacky. i took a new set of lowers and had them chrome plated, inside and out, then automotive grade clear coating added to help hold the shine. whadya think?? mike
  7. year ago I put some Wally-World passing lights on they didn't hold up well (rust) Today I put some show chrome lights on and am right proud of the way they turned out
  8. Well being the fine, well educated, expert on motorcycle engines that I am (NOT!!!!) I have developed another oil leak. I solved the first leak by finding some loose bolts over the second chrome cover (smaller one) on the left side of the engine. There were three bolts on top of the engine block behind the rear cylinder that were loose. Well the leak is back but not as bad. Well being the genius that I am I figured the smaller chrome piece on the left side was just a cover and I needed to take it off in order to see what was under it so I could check and make sure the bolts are all tight. WRONG! As I was taking the bolts out I started on the left and went counter clockwise until I got to the one at 6 o'clock. My allen wrench turned freely. No big deal since I thought it was just a cover that I would take the bolt out and tighten it when I put it back in. When I took the bolt out I noticed unlike the other bolts it had a copper washer on it. Now I'm thinking to myself why would this bolt have a copper washer and the rest not. Almost like it was trying to keep something from leaking. Well I srugged my shoulders and said to myself I'll worry about that later. I started to pull the cover off and man o man did the oil start rushing out. :yikes: I quickly pushed the chrome cover back on and started cleaning up the mess. Well I think I found my leak. I will put all the bolts back in and cross my fingers and hope that was all it was. Now for the final question. Do you think it would hurt to use the blue Lock Tight on the bolts to keep them from coming loose again. The one with the copper washer is the main one I am concerned about. Harry:doh:
  9. For those who witnessed one of my last threads unfold, where I thought about selling the bike so my wife could buy herself some...well... surgery-induced-mammorial-swelling, you may already know that we put it on hold until we can afford to do so, WITHOUT selling the scoot. Well, I'm starting to think they're gonna be delayed even MORE... Call me selfish, throw rocks at me, do what you must... But I believe I'm going to set up my garage for electroplating, and anodizing! It's going to cost well over $1,000 to get started, which is 1/5 what she needs towards buying me a 'new backrest' but I can't resist! I have no patience, and can't forsee waiting FOREVER to save $4,850 for some saline bags... I'd rather be able to walk in the garage one day with a plain piece of steel, and next time it sees daylight, it will emerge as a nice triple-plated chrome piece of art! SO- Once I get the hang of it, and my work comes out gorgeous, I'll start chrome plating parts that people send to me. I'll only charge cost of materials & shipping, which I'm sure won't be much. I'm planning to setup tanks large enough to handle fenders & tanks (some people LOVE chrome...) but not much bigger than that. As for my wife... :whistling:She's gonna kill me, so if you'd like to donate to my funeral fund, my paypal payment account is... This all may just be a pipe-dream, but if it works out, I'll be a chrome-plating, and aluminum anodixing fool by Winter!
  10. Have you noticed how individuals and dealers write a description on Touring scoots .....Like It comes with all Factory Options and when you look at the scoot you are hoping it comes with all the chrome accessories And than you look at the photo and what you see is a stock touring scoot
  11. Was just perusing e-bay and saw this listing http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-Yamaha-XVZ1300-Royal-Star-passengers-floorboards_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3ca9cf1b40QQitemZ260546960192QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories These are the good chrome boards with the sandwiched rubber, not the glued in strips.Includes mounts which could be re-sold[new ones list for $145.00 and are no longer avaible]With a $50.00 buy it now these won't last long if someone knows what they're looking at.Good luck,Herb
  12. Last night I pulled the faring to replace my XM antenna and move the XM on to a new RAM mount, so I had to adjust the wiring with that. I noticed some bolts missing that hold the top trunk on the bike, on the chrome braces that go down to both sides side of the rear fender... Holy smokes. I checked all the rest of them and all of they were loose. I replaced them with some stainless I had on hand till I can do better. I put locktite on all of them. Over 14000 miles on the bike and just now finding this... I have lost one seat bolt and now these bolts. Heads up to all to go check these bolts on your bike before the riding season gets started. . I am wondering what else I should check? I already got the items listed below Dog bones on the engine Chrome trim on the fender tips Had the mufflers off so they got checked Had the both front and rear wheels so all that got checked (brakes calipers included) Tank as been off so that is good Bags have been of so that has been checked Fairing off several times along with the passing lights Risers installed so that has been touched Checked the bag lid hinges several times and know that is something to check regularly. What else do I need to check for tightness?
  13. Hi here is a copy of an add I placed in the Classified Wanted section. I don't know how much people check that section so I thought I would give it a jump start and mention it here. Thanks for any help, Harry All chrome pieces on my 2001 Venture need replacing but the worse is the rear turn signal arms with or without turn signals. Rear fender end chrome fender tip. Rear fender side chrome pieces ( the pieces that the rear passenger and rear trunk rack bolt over). The rear antenna mounts and front passing light bar mount with or without passing lights. That all I can afford right now. Thanks for your help, Harry
  14. Saturday we removed the tank badge from Roxie, my '06 RTSD. I like how sleek it made her look. Someone said she looks like a panther. Mysterious, menacing, and sexy, that's her. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4013/4302465766_151b3e912f.jpg The most glaring thing to change now is the hinges. I know I can buy OEM chrome inserts, but I have restrained myself from adding flashy stuff. She is a midnight bike, and IMO is meant to be dark and threatening. Chrome there would be out of character. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4067/4304221436_505d4eecf9.jpg What are some options for replacing the hinge inserts with gloss black. Or better, like the original but saying Roxie instead of Tour Deluxe? Ideas? Dave
  15. I need one of the chrome molding strips that goes on the fairing of a RSV. I would be will to pay a fair price for one in good conditon. Earl:thumbsup:
  16. I want to change the color of my black seats and back rest to a tan. There are companies that gaurantee that their color works. I don't want to remove the chrome dots (too much hassle to take off and put back on) , so do you think the dye will come off the chrome after it dries.
  17. If you could have a new accessory for your bike, what would you want to add? This could be electronic, leather, or safety chrome. Yama Mama
  18. Does anyone knows, where I can find the Chrome helmet holders/Hangers that looks like the 2 Gen Venture.?
  19. First and foremost, I do hope some of my questions help other people. I have done a search here and looked over the Venture History and also even looked at the Yamaha Website (terrible website by the way)...and I am trying to find out more information about the Venture-S. Can anyone tell me ALL of the differences between the standard Venture and the Venture-S (besides the color). What features and/or chrome and if the only difference is chrome...what pieces are added for the additional cost. Thanks. (I think I will be a Venture owner VERY soon). Wally
  20. A friend of mine (who hasn't joined us....yet) is looking for chrome air filter canisters and can't find them. Any ideas? He owns a white 2005 RSTD and he just ordered the Khrome Werks pipes because he likes how my bike sounds. I already checked Cruiser Customising without luck. Any help is appreciated. silverdeer
  21. Anyone have a stock (black) ignition cover that they don't need anymore? I have a chrome one and don't like it. Shows every little scratch or mark much more than a black one would. If you have one and would like to part with it pls let me know. I can get one very reasonably from Pinwall.....except for the high shipping fees. I've even thought of painting my chrome one, but like the "textured" look of the stock one better.
  22. I bought a chrome tank cover and liked the look, but since have bought a Clearview shield and with the more swept back angle of the Clearview the chrome reflects right in the viewing path, so I have put the black one back on.. Anyone looking to get a chrome one, I'll let this one go cheap, it is just sitting on the shelf in my garage.
  23. It just goes to show that when it comes to motorcycles....there is no generation gap! Here's a pix of the youngest Cody rider and the oldest having a good time talkin' chrome on top of Beartooth Pass! (I'm not even gonna mention the rest of you that tried to teach him your bad habits!!! )
  24. Hey guys... I just got an email from Chrome glow- that's where everyone gets that great LED light bar that's in so many posts... (they also have the LED tail light). I told them about the forum and they sent me this: "In with your order I have included a 10% off coupon for your next purchase. Also, if you could post a promo code on the forum that would be great. This is an un-advertised special of 5% off entire order. Use promo venture5 " Looks like there's now one more advantage to being a VR member!!!
  25. We took a little ride last Saturday and as we were coming to a stop at an intersection the Honda VTX behind us failed to stop and at slow speed nailed our right saddlebag. The results were that the right side chrome "bumper" and turn signal were destroyed and the saddlebag lower was dented and distorted. Fortunately no one was injured and the damage was pretty light. I have a white and tan (I don't know the color names.) 1988 Royale and now need the chrome "bumper", turn signal, and lower saddlebag for the right side. This is basically the saddlebag assembly less the top as I have that in good condition still. If anyone has these parts and would like to sell them please let me know the details. I have seen the turn signals on ebay but have not seen the saddlebag in the tan (light brown) color from '88. I do not want to have to paint the parts, just put them on. Just lazy I guess... Thanks! Don
