    TSB's?

Anyone know where I can find Technical Service Bulletins for our bikes?
  2. Because our bikes have wierd footpeg mounts. has anyone found any aftermarket footpegs that can be disassembled and mounted in our existing footpeg mounts? Mine are getting ragged looking and I'd love some of those shiny chrome and O-ring looking ones that all the hardley rides get to dress their bikes with.
  3. BACA made their adoption visit today.....what an awesome group of people....H was a little overwhelmed at first but warmed right up..they all were very exceptional with her....she met her 2 special friends who are available for her any time needed. They gave her a vest with her new biker name....and brought her some gifts also.....a new barbie doll, a jump rope, bubbles, crayons, a Harley teddy bear and a few other little diddys. KC has about 140 members and Id say we had a good 30 of them here today. They had H look at all their bikes and pick which one she wanted to take a ride on ( noone had a side car today) all i can say is.....nope she didnt end up on a harley ...but she wound up on a wing... Of course daddy went along on the ride they took her on.. i was really kind of kind surprised to see that while they were here they kind of like secured our property......there was always one of them at each end of our property out by the road...one of them even had his bike on the perps property !!! and of course the local pd came by...they had to see what was going on....:rotfl:a lot of neighbors were checking it all out too when all them noisey bikes came thundering in.... Here are the pics i snapped.
  4. Just wondering if anyone would like to join us in Blount Springs, Al. at About Bikes Sat. Sept 20th at 8:00am for breakfast and leave at 9:00am for Waterloo and the ride?
  5. My friend just called and said his radio just guit on his 08 RSV. I have read what seems like alot of other issue's with the 2nd gen. bikes. Whats up with the 2nd gen. bikes? The 1st gen bikes never had this many problems and if there were any everyone knew about it and it was taken care of by the dealers and Yamaha. No questions. I was thinking of putting an 09 RSV beside my Rich looking Black and Gold 86 VR, but now I'm wondering if I should. Lets hear some input to help me make up my mind. I've seen alot of good natured joking going on between 1st and 2nd gens, but I have to say here, My first gen has alot going for it even if it is over the hill . ( Like Me )
  6. Here are pictures of mine and 83blondies bikes after fresh paint
  7. ...dual 20" Cinema screens. Bad choice (in a way). It is a pair of modded early CB750's. One on each screen. Now I am thinking (bad rick, bad rick). I need two of them in the garage as his and her bikes. No you do not need a refill. Yes you do. No you don't. yes yes yes. Ok I win.
  8. Anyone going to ride in the Trails of Tears Sept. 20th? I won't be able to join the ride but several of us from Birmingham will be going up to I think Madison AL to watch it come through on the way from Chatanooga to Waterloo. Been told there will be several thousand bikes or more.
  9. My 86 VR is the Urishi Black/Marshall Gold color tone. Not bragging; however, in my humble opinion, the bike's design and color looks better than most bike's out there. Just wished the plastic would hold up as well as the metal. Anyway, I am thinking about painting the "YAMAHA" side of the passenger floorboards. In my mind I have visualized, black paint for the inner textured part of the floorboard and gold for the letters YAMAHA to match the "Venture" wording on the bike. The all around outer 1" untextured part of the floorboard I have polished to a mirror finish. Any thoughts or better ideas about this. If some of you have done something similar, please let me know. I am open to any suggestions. Thanks, Allen Dallas, Texas
  10. Howdy folks, my name is Dave. I just purchased a 92' Venture Royale and am really liking this bike so far. I have been in the motorcycle industry most of my life. I started out in Myrtle Beach SC at a Suzuki and Honda dealer in 1977. I was stationed there in the military for ten years and worked during the days at the local motorcycle shops part time. I raced motocross on Suzuki's and hondas til about 1985. Then I started Drag racing on a 1985 Fz750 and a 1985 V-max. I continued racing til 1995 riding everything from street to progas and top gas turbo funnybikes. My wife put an end to my racing career when my friend Elmer Trett got killed on his Top fueler. I guess it was time to quit anyway. I look forward to meeting some fellow enthusiest in the Yamaha world. I have had many different bikes through the years. I currently have The Venture, 1983 Yamaha 650 turbo, 1984 kawasaki KZ1100, 1982 Suzuki gs650, 1982 Honda Cb650 Nighthawk, 1984 XL250,and a Zuma. I just love old bikes. Good thing I am a mechanic! Most of the bikes just sit in the garage. We have a working horse farm and the horses seem to take up most of our free time but since I got the Venture I have kinda got the bug to start riding more. If any of you are in my neck of the woods don't hesitate to come by and set a spell........Dave
  11. Hi all, My wife and I are heading to the Poconos Mountains at the end of the month. We will be in Shawnee on Delaware for a week and I am wondering if anyone knows anythuing about the area fior things to see/do while we're there. We won't be riding the bikes out since my wife doesn't enjoy "long rides" anymore. Besides, riding together in the car gives us some time to enjoy each others company and talk. I considered trailering her Vulcan out, but figure it's not worth the hassle. There is a Harley dealer about an hour away that rents bikes, so we may do that for a day or two once we get there, but that all depends. I'm mainly just looking for options of what to see or do since this is our first trip up this way. We traded our Virginia Beach timeshere for a mountain retreat this year and are looking forward to it. She has asked about running into New York City for a day. Is there somewhere in between to catch a train or something into the city/ Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks, and ride safe.
  12. Not me.My bike took 2nd place.More than a hundred bikes and 1st place was a Victory with California sidecar and my Venture took 2nd place. Not too shabby considering there was at least 75 Brand *X * bikes there and several trikes. Also the burnout was won by a Honda Shadow.
  13. Pete, Lenny and BigBob from Saskatchewan have safely arrived at our house. Chicken is being delivered. Lenny has a story about the great unpaved shoulders of the Manitoba section of the trans-Canada! 6 Bikes heading out tomorrow morning for the booming metropolis of Laporte Minnesota!
  14. Seems after riding awhile and I come to a stop, the engines ideling high (without a tach it's hard to tell but from experience) it seems to be at approx 3k. It will drop down after sitting a minute or so or when it's still cold (and yes the choke is completely in). Bikes still under warrantee so is this something I should have them fix or even worth the time being a normal thing? Thanks, Ride safe and God Bless. Mike
  15. Just got a phone call from friends at Rumble on Noble over in Anniston. There are rumors of 17 bikes being involved in a wreck betwen Anniston and Ga. Anyone know or hear of anything?
  16. Page 63 of the Oct issue of Rider has an article of a 4 Corner ride with a 2006 RSV as one of the bikes.....nice to see the RSV getting some media attention.
  17. Start at 8am at Rider's Harley in Trussville, Al. Last bike out at 9am. Rolling into King's Ranch for a BBQ lunch by 12. Last year's event had at least 100 bikes, and the kids were thrilled to see all the riders, and the noise and the steady stream of bikes that kept rollin in. Last year they raised more than $22k. I know it's last minute, but if you can make it, it's for the kids who are under privelaged and come from broken homes. Definitely a worth while cause.
  18. Got the RSV back home today. It was the fuel pump, he said it was the 3rd one in the last 2 weeks that they have changed. They say they are not sure if the 10% ethenal in our gas is maybe the cause. I talked one of my Harley buddies and he said there is a Harley service bulliten out on the use of ethenal in their bikes. They recommend not using it. He did say all three bikes they changed the fuel pumps on had about the same mileage. Mine has 19,000 on it. Anyway I'm glad to have it back! They synced/EGA the carbs, cleaned the K&N air filters and adjusted the steering head bearings while they had it and it runs really good. I hope I don't have to see the dealer again for awhile. Ride Safe!
  19. It must be something about the area or maybe it's the dealerships but I have only seen a handful of Ventures locally (Slidell, Louisiana) in the past four years that I have owned mine. A local restaurant has a bike night every wednesday (hundreds of bikes everyweek) with food, beer booths and music, vendors set up shop and sometimes riding exhibitions from the Sheriff's dept and over 95% of the bikes are Harleys? My bike ends up being the odd ball. I took the tank emblems off so people always ask me "what kind of bike is that?" We need more Venture riders !!!!!
  20. on Ebay lately. A month ago there were 2-3 complete bikes listed and an item count in the 700's, and now it's hovering around 200 with one seller keeping the count up with his listings of sub-parts. Case.... a side shift assembly torn down to the pedal and mount, or a clutch master listed as lever and reserve.... Doesn't sound too smart.... Anyway it's like the Sahara Dessert. I usually watch 20-30 items, and when things are really good it's up into the mid 40's. This morning's count... 9.... I guess 1stGen riders are keeping there bikes instead of selling them to VR killers.....
  21. To all our non-USA members (maybe non-North American members), PLEASE learn our driving rules before you come here to tour on your bikes. Solid yellow line means do not pass. Dashed yellow line (on 2 lane road) means you can pass if there is NO oncoming traffic. While on hwy 20 today in Middlebury, IN, we saw 3 bikes with European plates. Five people total. They had been parked in town looking at a map. We watched as these 3 bikes weaved in and out, passing cars and trucks, in both passing and no passing zones. Cars, trucks and even a motorhome was off the shoulder, almost in the ditch to avoid hitting these bikes. I'm just glad I did not have to witness a crash.

    fuel petcock

I have heard that it is best to keep your bikes petcock on reserve, is that true.
  23. I went to Carlisle PA Bikefest on Saturday 26th. Saw a total of 7 RSV. Well out of the thousands of bikes that's what I found. Talked to a coupe from NY on a 2000 mm, and a guy from Northern MD on a 2003. Saw another Galaxy Blue/Raven 07 parked with VA tags. Was that any one from here? As I was leaving the gate 2 2000 MM's were coming in to the fair grounds. I stopped at the Chile's on the way out for lunch and saw a bunch of bikes pulling in the parking lot. In the group was a 2007 Midnight. It was nice to see that many RSV not at a M&E since I rarely ever see another one on the road.
  24. I've posted some of the pictures that I took of the rally last weekedn at http://s252.photobucket.com/albums/hh10/greg_in_london/sidecar%20rally/ I hope that you find some of them interesting. There are a wide range of bikes, sidecar styles and fittings, plus a few with conversions to car wheels and/or tyres. This is my outfit and the tent (erected) http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh10/greg_in_london/sidecar%20rally/DSCF2011.jpg And this is it as it is towed. http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh10/greg_in_london/sidecar%20rally/DSCF2071.jpg A friend came down from Lancashire with his XVZ13 and sidecar. There are also a few pictures of his car wheel rear conversion. He is running a 145x15, but may have to switch to 135x15 as he says he's having trouble finding the 145. http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh10/greg_in_london/sidecar%20rally/DSCF2020.jpg This is a particularly flashy BMW and sidecar. It has car tyres front and back, hub centre steering and a sidecar wheel powered from the single sided swingarm. http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh10/greg_in_london/sidecar%20rally/DSCF2028.jpg As I said, browse the rest of the pictures and I hope you like them. Some are of different bikes and some are different views of the same ones.
  25. Did anyone go to Bike Week in Gettysburg last week? I was on my bike coming home from Chryslers at Carlisle on Saturday (boy was it a hot one) and saw a couple 2nd gen Ventures running around. Gettysburg was packed with bikes, I would say thousands, mostly Harleys of course. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Also they are having a motorcyle show in Carlisle July 25-27, is anyone planning on going? Here is the link: http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/ce/events/bikefest/ I think they are having a demo ride for all Yamaha Star Edition bikes.
