Last week when Don sent the email out about the new costs that have been incurred. I immediately responded and paid for a full year up front. Now before you think I am tooting my own horn let me explain to you why. I had narrowed my choice of motorcycles down to a either a Venture or a BMW 1200 LT. I ended up with the BMW. But for several years I had been a member of this forum reading how you guys reach out and help each other in very real and personal ways. I am a member of other BMW forums, but I haven't seen the level of camaraderie of this group. And I told Don this. So here I am with no Venture, but I would love to be a part of this group and if anyone in or near Wilmington, NC needs something or just a riding buddy, look me up. Thanks for letting me stay and be a member... George

85 Yamaha Venture Royale 1200
Guest posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Hey Guys, I have a big question. My Venture all of a sudden quit wanting to start. If I put the choke on it doesn't start, if I give it a little gas it tries to start, and I had it running once and it didn't want to stay running. Does anybody know what could be wrong? I took the plugs out and cleaned and adjusted them. I'm going to put some new plugs in it tomorrow and try it. I've already rode it several times in the last couple of weeks and this all of a sudden happened. I just filled the tank up with gas recently.I don't think it's bad gas. -

It only took me 3 months to make a decision but I finally picked up my new bike tuesday. It wasn't my first choice, or even my second. But after eliminating the first choice and scratching the second choice because of the dealer I chose this. No, it's not a Venture. After losing my 99 to Katrina, which was the bike I dearly loved, and then totaling out the 06, which by the way, wasn't my fault, I decided I needed a change. Have only managed to put 50 miles on her due tyo work and bad weather but the weekend forcast is for sunny skies so riding I will be. I still think the Venture is one of the finest touring bikes and hopefully you all will let me continue to hang out here. Met a few of you last year at Vogel and am hoping to meet more this year. SO, here she is;

Just posted my 2007 Royal Star Venture: http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=1180 I have my 2005 QuickSilver back on the road, so no longer need the second RSV! This is a fantastic bike in EXCELLENT condition, but I just like my original 2005 a little better. I picked it up with 3,000 miles on it, them put another 10,000 hitting Daytona and the Florida Keys this year. Added a lot of extras. This bike is a sweet running machine with no significant whine, and I'd love to place it with someone who will love it and use it! Goose

I have been looking at some on ebay. Most are either single or dual fire. If one of the two would work on a venture, which one would it be?

As some of you might know one of the Tulsa Touring Riders wreck his 1999 venture while we where on a ride a couple of weeks ago. After lots of thought and since he his getting up there in age (74) he has decided not to put the bike back together, so he will be selling it cheap. The right side plastic is messed up and the fairing. The forks and frame are good. If anyone is interested in it, give me a shout and I will put you touch with him. The bike has been well maintained and has less than 40,000 miles on it. Phill pandlbiker@cox.net

I use a windshield mounted E-Zpass in my vehicle for business and was curious if it could also be used on my venture and where it would need to be mounted? Kevin

Our local Yamaha dealer finally got a new venture on the showroom floor. We stopped yesterday and looked it over. It's gray ( not exactly my color ) but a very nice looking scoot. Normally he only stocked the goldwings as he is also a Honda and Suzuki dealer. Nice looking Hyabusa Suzuki setting beside it to. I'm still waiting on the 1800 V4 with FI.No plans for a new scoot until after I pay off some debt.

A few weeks ago I gave out the number for Bendix brake pads for the Venture. I gave the number as MA113. That is the number for the first generation RSTDs not Ventures. Sorry I gave you the wrong info. I don't know the number for the Venture. tew47

I had a 2610 Gps mounted on a 05' Kawasaki Nomad I would now like to mount it on a 1987 Venture Royale. Does anyone have pictures of a Garmin 2610 mounted on a early Venture? I used a RAM mount which I placed in the center of the Kawasaki handlebars but the Venture does not give me that option. Thanks in advance Dave

I recently purchased an 83 Venture, which has an after-market cruise control installed, and the only info I have about it is its name: Markland. I have tried to find any info I can about the company, but so far I haven't had any luck online. I was wondering if anyone has heard of Markland cruise control systems, or where I may locate a wiring diagram, or just a website/phone number. This system uses magnets attached to the rear brake rotor, with a sensor mounted on the rear caliper bracket. the control on the handlebars says MARKLAND across the top, and has 3 buttons, SET, RES, and ^OFF. I am really hoping it's just a loose wire, or a bad vacuum line, but before I start I wanted to get more familiar with how it is installed. Any help is really appreciated!

These pics are for the Four Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty One Members who were not able to make the First Annual Muleshoe Meet-n-Eat, held in good ol' Donkey Slipper U.S.A. In attendance were myself, Cliff, and Jessica...hey its a start! http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/tx2sturgis/muleshoe/IMG_1194.jpg First, a stop in Earth to let yall know that there IS a town near here that our world was named after. Some folks think its the other way around...whats up with that? http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/tx2sturgis/muleshoe/IMG_1196.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/tx2sturgis/muleshoe/IMG_1201.jpg Next we had a meal at a nice little Mexican Restaurant called Leal's. (Thats pronounced Lee- Al's for you yanks!) Decent food, cute women, although we all noticed something 'strange' about our waiter. Oh well... After the meal, we swapped bikes and Cliff rode my gen2 Venture (with Jessica as navigator), and I rode his gen1 Venture. First time for each of us to ever ride the other side. We both enjoyed it, and learned some new stuff. We rode out to this little place in the country, where Cliff had some trading to do, and then we visited and said our good-byes. A nice afternoon putt, met some good people from the forum here, and I rode back home. Lookin forward to next years event!! Thanks Cliff and Jessica, for the company and see you in cyberchat!

Howdy All, I'm in the market and am thinking about a Venture. I've got other bikes that fit their purpose but I need a bike for two up multi-state rides. I've never ridden a venture and am interested in learning the pros and cons of this bike against it's competition. The few reviews I've found thus far state that the motor and brakes are underpowered for a bike this heavy. I don't really care about motor power (think two up with a wife that grabs my balls (a.k.a. the brakes) when I scrape the pegs with her on the back, but I do want good brakes. If the stock ones are bad, what options are available? When I go look at a used bike, what should I be looking for? What are the common problems this bike has? What's the best mods to make? I'm 6'2- how's the wind noise and weather protection on the highway? How about for the passenger? The other bikes I'm looking at are Goldwing, BMW RTS and BMW K1200 Thanks, -P
