  1. guess i must be a 65 year old squid. i'd buy one in a minute, if i did'nt have this here bad ass zx-14 kaw. you want to talk ugly take a look at a b-king. they both got big possibilities. never did care for to many stock bikes. i figure they were built for us to ride and personalize. i had one fine looking 88 v-max that was personalized. thats when i was just a young squid. snarley bill:2133:
  2. just said another prayer . still with ya jt. bill
  3. from all i've read on the new max the scoops are for real now and the motor is totally new and different from the ground up. even looks taller in the picks. has to be to handle the bigger bore and longer stroke.
  4. sounds like they are looking for a few guinea pigs to get rider and reliability impressions on the street.thats what i figure the limited additin is. don't think those are the only ones that are going to be built.
  5. you and red neck are the only two that have hit the nail on the head in this thread. high octane fuel does burn slower than low octane fuel. that is the only difference in the two. if you use high octane fuel in a low compression engine it has a very slow flame front during combustion and will produce less hp.,and give worst mileage. in a high compression engine where the fuel and air mixture ar compressed into a smaller area the flame will jump from one fuel molecule to the next faster because the molecules are closer together causing an explosion rather than a smooth burn. this explosion is called detonation.the pinging noise you here is the burning flame front from the explosion hitting the internal metal surface of the piston and combustion chamber so hard it makes the metalic sound you hear as pinging. very distructive. so they add an additive to the fuel to slow down the burn rate of the flame front. a friend of mine had a cushman eagle motor scooter and swore by premium fuel in his 8 1/2 to 1 compression engine. he put it on a dyno and got a 1 hp. gain by switching from premium to 87 octane. i could really get tecnical on this subject cuz i've built alot of high performance engines. but this is the simplest way i can think of to explain it. bill
  6. boss or no boss we always look forward to your smiling face see you there. bill :clap2:
  7. the 1300 touring is the almost perfect all around bike.i love mine. it does everything just right, and great if your legs won't handle alot of weight anymore. very nimble at all speeds. and very powerful. if you like v-twins the 1300 has it all. $8200.00 is a great price. thats less than i gave for my 1100 silverado. the 1100 is another great choice should be alot of nice used 1100's out there. main thing is just get something so you can ride with us. good luck bill
  8. heres my new wing, already got over 300 miles on it.
  9. hey wayne, i would share a room with ya but your to darn ugly. :rotf:
  10. we all went there last year at the eureka springs meet . top notch bunch and had about every gadget you could want.
  11. not a doubt in my mind. yamaha wants some of the honda market. they did'nt spend all that design money on a drive train just for use in the max.
  12. went for along ride this morning and decided floorboards would not be a good thing. with my feet on the pegs my foot would not be comfortable in a flat position. i am going to order kuryakyn iso pegs. they are shorter and the rubber on the stock pegs grabs my pants when i put my feet down. very insecure feeling. sure is the rolls royce of motorcycles. now that i am getting comfortable with it it's hard to pick it apart. the worst thing i can say is it is to luxurious for a wing aling like me. but i can adapt. lol.
  13. the name of the coffee shop where we will meet at noon is java jive, on the main street by the river. jay bring the boss with you, we would like to meet her. bill
  14. that was a low blow. here we go again. lol. :rotf:
  15. i would move up to a vstar 1100, or a vstar 1300. reason being the 650, has spoked wheels and uses tube type tires, has a single front disc brake, and just not enough motor for highway riding. not a good choice for two up riding. i had an 1100 and now have a 1300. being an old fart with bad legs i had no problem with either of them. they both sit low and have great lowspeed handling. since you are used to a big bike i doubt if a 650 would cut it. another alternative would be a suzuki 650 burgman scooter. i have a 400 majesty and my wife and i ride it all over. i may go to a burgman when i can't handle my bikes anymore. bill
  16. okay, this is a spur of the moment plea. going to ride to hannibal, mo. sat. june 14th for coffee and just look around and eat. leaving from st. charles,mo. about 10am and will be in hannibal about noon. any one that is interested in riding up with linda and me let me know or if anyone wants to meet us there let me know and we will make definate plans. we are going unless it rains. bill
  17. i know what you mean. when ever i plan a get together i try not to interfere with other peoples meet dates. sept tember weather is usually perfect in arkansas and i kind of figure it's the last hoorah for the big meet of the year. last year the weather was picture perfect. hopefully we can do it again this year. sure would like to see you there. stardays is july 22nd thru 26th i'm going to that cuz it is close to home and i need a break in the everyday routine. bill:2133:
  18. haven't even messed with the radio yet. never had a bike with as big of an owners manual. had to read it to open the saddle bags and trunk.they have that remote keychain lock. this thing is unbelievable. they thought of everything. took linda for a ride and asked her how do you like it. she said it ain't no caddy, it's a rolls royce. i think she likes it more than me. going on a couple of hundred mile ride in the morning by myself to become one with the bike. bill
  19. hey don ,don't know a whole lot about elctronics. are these what i will need for the radio on my goldwing and is the plug universal for all bikes.if this is what i need i will take one set for now. thanks bill
  20. just got back from the first ride. got to get used to the foot pegs. put highway boards on it and got them to far back got my toe hung on them and could'nt get my feet down .almost dumped it at a stop sign. very powerful, crotch rocket feel in the curves, ultra smooth and quiet. way to many buttons and knobs. me and the wing are gonna have to get to know each other.totally different ride than my royalstar was. so far i like it alot. i can see it's going to be one of those love affairs that has to grow.lol
  21. what a saga getting my new gold wing was. drove a total of 805 miles yesterday, to arkansas to pick it up. was racing to beat the rain. no rain until i got home and backed the trailer in the garage and it let fly with horrendous storms, about 5 minutes later. talk about perfect timing. had a pile of boxes sitting on the doorstep from ups last night so as tired as i was the chroming began. got to go unload the bike and take it for a ride now. just saw some sunshine out there. never saw a honda dealer like the one in russleville arkansas they told me they sell about 30 wings a month. bill
  22. satellite radio is the only way to fly. i have three of them one in my truck one on my vstar and a new one for my new gold wing. pick the music or program type you like and it will stay the same from coast to coast. my first sirius radio is $12.95 per month and each additional one is $ 6.95.
  23. don't know how to better say what everyone has already said. linda and i will be thinking about and praying for you and jeannie. bill
  24. hey dan, if linda had any money ,i would be dangerous.lol :rotf:
  25. buddy, thanks for the heads up on the coolant. dooder, not sure what route yet. i'll let you know. bill
