I have that happening on my new Wing ... is it possible the two bikes are related?

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:-Knowing when to come in out of the rain; - Why the early bird gets the worm;- Life isn't always fair; - And maybe it was ...my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies, don't spend more than you can earn and adults, not children, are in charge. His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault. Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife Discretion, his daughter Responsibility, and his son, Reason. He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights,I Want It Now,Someone Else Is To Blame,I'm A Victim. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, do nothing.

Well, I just got back from several hours of riding on the Wing. City stop & go, back country roads, super-slab ... solo and 2-up later on. All I can say is WOOOHOOOO !!! I am a happy camper! The first thing I did was go to a Honda shop and have them check the VIN ... there are no recalls on this bike and it has never had any warranty work done. I also discovered it has Polk speakers but there's no aftermarket amplifier so I might have to get me one of those LOL.

I'm aware of the cracking frame but from what I understand, only certain serial #'s were involved...yes/no? As for the overheating, was that just your bike or was it an issue with the GL1800's of that year or what? I'll be going to a HOnda shop today to do a search to see if this bike was one affected and if it's been repaired.

Dang Rick ... glad it wasn't any worse. A hard way to "remember" something tho. Hope you heal up quickly!

Dumb question ... have you got the carbtune restrictors at the correct end? (closest to the carbs) -
Welcome home folks ... 3 days, 1 week, a month or more... coming home and getting back into the routine is always a "chore" ... and all that is left is the memories... like a dream ... "did we really do that or did we dream it?" I hope that "dream" was all that it could be and you're left with many great memories. Was a pleasure to meet the both of you at Cody, albeit we didn't get much chance to socialize and get to know you both a bit better.

Jim, thanks ... apparently this Wing has had some "upgrades" to the suspension; however, I don't know what they are... yet. But I intend to find out. I do know it has a fork brace but more has been done.

I looked at the 1500's .... never rode one but my brother-in-law has a '96 and he loves it. I can tell you this... I rode that '03 Wing for a couple hours and there was nothing about it that bothered me ... except the seat a little bit... but that can be remedied easilly. I guess it's a situation of "what works best" for each person. A combination of variables that sum up to the best percentage so to speak. I know I will be tweaking the Wing for best comfort and fit to some degree ... even for Nina. But, it doesn't whine/chirp or have a noisy engine LOL ... in fact, it sounds awesome with the Cobra pipes on it.

Can't help but to comment on this. I've had my RSMV for 3 years now and it has been a "love-hate" relationship. I totally love the looks of the bike. I totally love the comfort and rider position. I look at it every day and damn... it looks so good.. and it hauls a$$ pretty good too.... BUT Even after changing the clutch basket out to an I basket ... and it did help a lot ... that whine is still there and at times i HATE it. It really annoys me... at times. And then there is the incessant engine "rattly" sound ... especially when I first start it up ... it's the cam chain on the rear cylinders apparently ... goes away once it's warmed up but it's just not a "quiet" engine even then.... I HATE that. So ... compromise, compromise... I was always saying to myself .... "accept those 'quirks' .... ignore them ... coz I love that bike". Well, I'm tired of compromising ... so it's for sale and I bought another, different bike. Dang! .. I sure hope I don't have to go thru all of this again. Pls don't get me wrong... I'm not bashing the RSMV ... I'm just saying I'm not willing to continue with those compromises anymore. But, I may be wishing I'd stuck with it as time passes coz I haven't had this Wing longer than a test ride yet. Life can be interesting LOL
