  1. May your heart be filled with love and your memories with sweet thoughts. Prayers for you and your family. Dave
  2. Dan- He's at the Denny's just off of 4500 South. He spoke with Condor and is pulling the master cylinder cap and making sure the fluid level is right. After that he's going to give a test ride up Big Cottonwood Canyon. I'm planning on meeting him back at Denny's about 4:40 and he'll come out to join us for dinner. Dave
  3. Bob Meyer and his friend just arrived in SLC safely. Bob ('86 Venture) called and he is having difficulty getting his clutch to release. My initial thought is that because of the elevation change from Kentucky to Utah that the system has additional pressure and that if we open the master cylinder cap that will relieve it and his system will function normally again. Any ideas or suggestions before I go home from work would appreciated. Dave
  4. Pete/Dan- If you guys would rather hit this ride for Kevin tomorrow - go for it. With my grandson in tow I can't ride but this sound like a great cause. Dave
  5. I'll there at 9:00AM
  6. Dan- Which TRAX station, 10000 South? 9:00 AM, I'll be there. Dave
  7. Hey Dan- I've got my one year old grandson Saturday morning. If you don't mind a young breakfast companion, I'll meet the group at Cabela's (I haven't figured out how to strap the car seat to the bike ) at say 9:30? Dave
  8. Bob- If you can't recicitate your laptop, phones still work!!:rotf: Ride safe!! Dave
  9. A CB should always be matched up with SWR meter. Failing to do this will not only give you poor performance but overtime will damage the radio itself. Good luck with the Stealer
  10. Bob- Welcome (in advance) to SLC!! Plan on an informal meet-n-eat if nothing else. What kind of food do you like? If you need a place to crash, I sure we can figure that out too. Dave:big-grin-emoticon:
  11. Paul - Go for it!! I'll be willing to assist or help if I can. May was kind of a small get together (just Danj & I) but we had a great ride. Pick a date and location and lets see what we can do with it. Dave (Utadventure)
  12. The mod I read about involved drilling between 2-4 1/2" holes in the airbox to increase air into the box. I haven't personally tried this mod so I can't say whether it works or not. Hopefully, someone that has experience with the mod will chime in and let us both know the success and benefits. Dave
  13. I'll bet that the Seafoam resolves your issue but something else you might want to consider is the RPM's. If you're in 5th gear going 55 mph and trying to accelerate (especially hard acceration) you might bog down a little bit. Something that has been mentioned many times on this site is that these bikes really like and work better in the higher RPM range. I'm sure there are others here that can clarify it better but I believe it been said 4K and higher is best. Another thing to be aware of is - many have modified thier airboxes to let a little more into the carbs. Again, something you may or may not consider. Welcome to the best VR site on the web. These guys are great at helping you get past any issues you find. Dave
  14. Well as my dad said i'm not doing bad all things considered. I ended up with some road rash on the legs and a few other places but due to the protective gear I was wearing its almost gone from everywhere but where i didn't have any clothes covering (IE the legs, note to self wear long pants and not shorts next time) unfortunately the bones can't be cast so i just have to take it easy and let them heal on their own. I was riding my moms bike cause we're ironing out some kinks on my bike that developed after we rebuilt the carbs. We're still not sure what caused the initial wobble but may find something more as we make the repairs. Damage to the bike isn't all that bad but it will need some new forks, turns signal and spewdometer. The rest of the damage is minor cosmetic things. Fortunately a worman driving an SUV behind me saw me loose control and go down and used her vehicle as a shield and I was alert and hopped on adrenaline enough to hobble off the road as soon as I stopped moving down the road. 15. My son Sam was riding Jan's bike (Suzuki GS650) to work last when it developed a front end wobble he could get back under control. Considering what the result could have been, the road rash, broken collar bone and shoulder blade is not to bad. The helmet and leather jacket did a good job of protecting him and the short also performed as expected - NADA!! I suspect that the front tire went flat on him for some reason and caused the initial problem. I'll be contacting the towing company today to see if it's repairable or if I have a bike to part out. If it's beyond repair, the banker says I can't buy her a replacement until the debt ratio goes down. Dave
  16. Red Lodge, MT Close enough to ride Beartooth Pass, Chief Joseph, visit Yellowstone National Park, Little Big Horn etc. Dave:fingers-crossed-emo
  17. I pulled my cassette and installed an MP3 input and switch a few weeks ago and it works great. Make the upgade, well worth it. Dave
  18. If the add on items don't increase the insurance payout then they shouldn't care if they are included on the bike. Maybe you can salvage the add ons and take the $3800can, buy a replacement bike and put it back on. That way you can keep some peace at home by not having the "parts bike" behind the garage.
  19. Don- I'm interested to see what you thought about cornering? I felt like I needed something to keep me in the saddle. Dave
  20. Condor- Maybe you don't want any wind or you might just be sending all the smoke to Idaho (or worse - Utah) Have a safe trip!! Dave
  21. Good job Jack at nagging her into going to the hospital! Our prayers are with you that she'll recovery fully and quickly. Dave & Jan
  22. Guindalf- I was thinking about this over the weekend. I hope you printed the online page offer in the bike at $4299.00 or that it still can be. I don't know the laws in GA but here that constitutes "Bait and Switch" and can have legal consequences. By listing the bike online at $4,299.00 they have made an offer to sell at that price and have baited you into their store. By asking for more for the bike they have made a switch (not of the bike but of the offer). You might want to ask the city attorney, county attorney or state attorney or the state consumer protection department may be of help. If I had the money in hand - I'd be a big enough pain to make them honor the deal and then go down the road to have any extras put on. Good luck!! Dave
  23. Don- Didn't anyone tell you....you're suppose to ride for 4-5 hours and then get rained out on mowing the lawn? :rotf:
  24. Great pics!! I'm glad you had an enjoyable. We have been blessed to have these in our back yard here in Utah. Were you able to check out some of the eateries we mentioned or find some great ones on your own? Now, I want to go for a ride but I think I better work and pay the bills. Dave
  25. Thom- The cleaner is 5 Star Auto Body, Wax & Grease Remover, #5900 and the prep spray is Bulldog Adhesion Promoter, ETPO123. Good luck!! Dave:080402gudl_prv:
