  1. Indeed. My brother has a condo near Pelican Bay (FL) and another near Melbourne Beach (FL) and he STILL doesn't have a place to work/play with his Harley. And believe you me, if one owns and rides a Harley, one should have a place to work on it. I built a 'shop' to do cabinet making, woodworking and motorcycle storage/maintenance. If I had a condo, where would I do all those things?

Bedankt, Herbert.
  6. On my 1983 XVZ 'Sport Tourer', I have removed the lowers. The pros: less weight (albeit only a couple pounds), more streamlined, sleeker look. Cons: less protection from the elements. I too have contemplated installing lights within the air intakes on the XVZ12. Obviously, installing lights there would obstruct air flow to the 'shin vents' in the lowers, but with the lowers removed, that of course, is not an issue.

  10. Whoa! Continue to fly, Black Owl. Pork in the Pines wouldn't be the same if you weren't there. Chin up, Russ and hang in there.
  11. Thanks, Don. Though I never met Dan (Danl), we did exchange posts and I believe more than a few PMs on the Venturers site, back in the day. He was member #16 and rode a 2001 RSV back then. To quote Dan's signature: "I'm like an old stallion who's longing for freedom, trying to outrun the wind"

  19. My 1990 Royale delivered 42 mpg pretty consistently while two up and loaded on several 'flower sniffing' long trips. A trip to Florida averaged 41 mpg, but I was riding with four crazy brothers who liked to run 75-80 mph on the Interstate.

  21. Since 'ensack' is not a word, I'll combine 'hack' and 'ensack' to form Hackensack as in the city in New Joisy. So the new word to associate is New Jersey. Shoot! Took too long to formulate my reply. So associate this: Delaware.
  22. Bill, depending on the accessory fuse block that you use, there may be no ground to the fuseblock. But you are contemplating a fuse block with a built in relay? I am not familiar with that fuse block, but a ground wire will be needed to activate the relay. Can you post the pertinent manufacturer and model of this fuse block? See this thread on my fuse block upgrade. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/first-generation-venture-tech-talk/66650-upgraded-updated-fuse-block.html A simple wiring diagram of my fuse block with the auxiliary, relay switched, accessory fuse block is below.
  23. How long has it been since you topped off the battery electrolyte? A voltage regulator failure can 'cook' off the electrolyte quickly, on the other hand, the hot temperatures of Arizona can do that as well, albeit that will take longer.
  24. You have the speedo cable FORWARD of the lower triple tree. See on my diagram that the speedo cable goes REARWARD of the lower triple tree.
  25. Below is the factory specified speedometer cable routing; additionally, make sure the speedometer cable is threaded through the grommet on the fender.
