    Grammys

Pink's performance was great, she sounds as good in a live performance as on the polished up studio recordings. I think that Lorde has a great voice that is as good live as the recordings. So many of the live performances, Willie and Kris' performance being one of them, did not sound anything like what comes out of the studio.
  2. Am on my 4th jeep now, 2-95's, 04 and now a 13, Jeeps have been good for me. One 95 and o4 were the 4.0. I never have had any complaints on the engines in any of them, still have both 95's, kids are driving them, 250k on the 6 and 190k on the V8; bought both with around 140k on them. The 4.0 is a solid engine. The 04 was traded off becuase of computer issues, two engine computers in less than 12 months, and even though the second computer was still under warranty, cost $500 for programming and installation. Wife said she did not trust it any longer, so it got traded. You can expect 18-20 mpg; the 13 does just over 26. I do think the quality went down between the 95 model and the 04. The 95's ride much better than the 04 did. I would not be scared of the miles, it should be good for many more. On my 04, I owned it for 60k, only put brakes in it once.
  3. Had the Scala Teamset last year, liked them quite well for riding two up, but no range for riding on seperate bikes. Just got to try out our new set of Sena SMH10 last weekend, very impressed, better sound from the speakers and the range was good, Wife was about 1/2 mile ahead and had great reception. Easier to use than the Scala set. Have yet to try out the other bluetooth features.
  4. Have had mine for about 8 months now, won't sleep without it. No longer fall asleep watching tv, at the movies or sitting in meetings. Should have had one at least 10 years ago, just was not willing to pay for the sleep study until my daughters FIL passed away at age 50 and she made me promise to go in. Sleep better, don't snore anymore and feel better after 5 hours of sleep than I used to after 9. Need a Vpap machine, kind of expensive ($6,000), but by the time I got through the regular physical and two sleep studies, deductable was more than covered.
  5. I am looking for either a right or left saddle bag cover, any color, that fits the 86-93 saddlebags. Does not need to be in great shape, I will be cutting it up as an experimental modification to add extra storage to the bag and I do not want to mess up my good cover without knowing how it is going to turn out. PM me with if you have something and what you want for it, Thanks.
  6. If anyone wants one of the Harbor Freight $299 coupons, PM me with your address and I will mail you one, I currently have 4 magazines with them in.
  7. Last summer, my wife also decided that she wanted to learn how to ride. After taking the safety course and getting her license, we went bike shopping. They used Suzuki 250's for the class and she definately thought that it was too small of a bike. We looked at 10 - 15 different bikes from 500 - 800 cc. When we were looking, we did not put a lot of consideration into the size of the bike, only wanting to make sure that it was what she felt comfortable on. She sat on every bike that she thought she might like with either myself or the salesman holding it upright so that she was able to sit in the normal riding position. It came down to a couple of Honda 750's, a Shadow and a I think it was a Spirit, Yamaha 650 and a Suzuki C50T. I liked the Yamaha 650, but in the end she chose a Suzuki c50t. Even though it was the largest of the bikes we looked at; for her, she said it felt the most comfortable, stable and she could put both feet on the ground. It does ride nice, but not like a Venture.
  8. Loctite -A little more information regarding its use, as mentioned above there is red and blue, with the blue being the more permanent hold than the red. Talk to the person at the auto parts store to get the formulation that will work the best for the application you are doing. If you assemble something with loctite and in the future find that you need to take it apart again, a small amount of heat on the nut or the head of the bolt (depends if the nut is accessable or if the bolt is threaded into a part that is not heatable) will loosen the loctite for easier removal. Unless you are doing a specific project that calls for green loctite, do not use it. It requires a large amount of heat for removal.
  9. MN, $55.25 for 4 years, CDL class A with endorsements, $13 extra for the MC edorsement
  10. Ordered a couple Battery Tender Jr from Jafrum.com, on sale today for $17.99. $8.95 shipping on orders under $100. Did a little Christmas shopping get the free shipping. Read good reviews here about the company, some mixed reviews on other sites, will see if I get what I ordered.
  11. Not that bad of a job, did both of mine in an evening. I did not remove any of the fairing when I did mine. Kind of a tight fit for your hands to remove and install the air connections, but it can be done. You need to make a tool to hold the inside portion of the fork in order to remove the bolt from the bottom end. The whole procedure is covered quite well if you do a search here on replacing the fork seals.
  12. Have had Directv for close to 20 years, only way I could get more than the three networks where I live, even though I can see the area UHF antenae from my rooftop. Customer service is fair at best, have only needed them a couple of times since I put the system in, and when I did, I had to threaten to go to Dish to get a response from them. Service techs were good when they finally got out. My inlaws have Dish and have had a lot of problems with billing from them and sounds like they get quite the run around with Dish customer service. For either company, customer service is not very high on their priority list. What I found worked the best was to bypass as much of the lower level customer service reps and get to a supervisors supervisor as quickly as possible Look at the programming packages and see which one fits what you want and go with that one.
  13. I think that the pilot jets are at least partially if not fully plugged. Most likely you will have to take the carbs apart and clean the jets. If you are lucky, you can pour a can of seafoam in the gas, run it for a few miles and then let it sit for a day or so, then run it again. Repeat the process for several days and see if there is any improvement, if no improvement, it's time to clean the carbs.
  14. Best $12 I've spent all year. Just did fork seals and progressive springs last weekend, without the help and information available here I would not have thought about the progressives and would have followed the repair procedure in the service manual; which would have taken twice as long to complete the repair. Can't beat the quality of help available from other members on this site.
  15. This is on my wish list. HF has been running that coupon for at least a year now, it is in several motorcyle magazines every month, Cycle World, Motorcylist and Rider that I know of. I think that the current add is good till August or Sept. If I remember right, you are allowed to purchase more than one with a coupon. I know the coupons are good, I have used other ones out of the add for some tools, no problems at all. If someone wants a coupon, let me know, I will look through the issues that I have and mail mail one to you.
  16. Replacements are available from here: http://www.siriusconinc.com/pro-detail.php?pid=&product_id=1794 In the past they have offered members a discount when ordering. Not real hard to change, just watch the alignment and take your time.
  17. What you are describing is how mine ran when I first got it. After an initial cleaning of the carbs, what I did was poured a can of sea foam into a half tank of gas and then every day for a week started it with the choke and let it run for about 20 minutes. Flushes the crud out of the carb and puts a clean mixture of gas and Sea Foam into the carbs to soak for another 24 hours, each day it ran a bit better with less choke. Then go through the carbs again, pay special attention to the jets under the two black plugs, they are very small and need to be open for the engine to idle. As good as Sea Foam is, it will not remove the build up in the jets if they are completely plugged.

Have three of them, kids each have a 95 Grand, one 4 cyl and one v8; wife drives a 04 Grand with the inline 4
  19. Finding parts can be a challenge. Don't have many small bike shops nearby. There is an independent one in the next town, who I get parts from on occasion, he at least seems interested in selling something when I call. The local dealer calls itself a Superstore, not a term that I would use to describe it. They do list Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Polaris, Can Am, Sea Doo and Ski Doo as their product lines. I call them to check on parts availability and pricing, not worth driving in to see as they do not seem to stock anything (did not even stock an oil filter for a Venture, but the local Napa did), their pricing is high and customer service is not the image that they project anytime I do go in. This last week I needed new exhaust gaskets for my old maxim. Granted it is old, but the same gasket was used on quite a few models from 1980 - 1991. Did not have, but could get, $6.69 each and would have by end of week. At least they not say "plus freight"; which is what they told me a year ago when I needed some parts for the Venture (the band that holds the side cover on, $17.50 plus $10 freight that I got from U Motors in Fargo for just under $11; in stock). U Motors parts department does a good job, my daughter is even willing to go there and get parts for me. I could order genuine Yamaha online Boats.net for $3.96 plus shipping (they state that msrp is $5.28). Ordered aftermarket from Dennis Kirk for $3.99 delivered and had it the next day.
  20. I think that it is all a bunch of hype from both sides. I have been using ethanol blend since it was introduced in the late 70's early 80's; I am in rural MN where it all began, and have used it in everything I own. I have had my maxim since new, my John Deere lawn tractor since 89, my 80 hp Mercury outboard since 89, 92 polaris 4 wheeler. I had a 90 buick, bought new, that I put 220,000 miles on until the timing chain broke in 2008. Newest vehicle we have is 2004 Jeep (have had for 3 years), plus 01 dodge (flex fuel) 2 95 jeeps, 96 gmc, 86 ford,(all aquired at least 6 years or more ago, kid's need something to get back and forth to school and work) 78 skid loader with a Onan engine that I have had for 10 years, plus several other Briggs engines on push mowers and pumps. I have several gas trimmers, oldest since 1982 (Greenmachine,it is quite worn out) newest one I have had for four years, same chain saw since 1986 (burned wood to heat the house for six or seven years, now it sits in the garage, with gas in it, and gets used three or four times a year to cut fire wood for bon fires....I have yet to touch the carbs on the maxim, have maybe gone through the carb on the string trimmer and chain saw 2 or three times, have never touched the lawn mower or the outboard and only put a fuel pump in the gmc about 6 years ago. I do like to use a lot of Seafoam though, I also put that into just about everything, especially the small engines. Too early to tell how the Venture will do, that one had 8 year old fuel in it when I got it and was a mess, took three cans of Seafoam through the system, complete cleaning of the carb and new diaphrams to get it to idle and run without the choke on. If the ethanol is as bad as some studies and hype make it out to be, none of these engines should have made it past the first year. What I think is more important is knowing that the fuel you buy comes from a reputable station, and keep it fresh and the engines maintained. Also, if a station has not been carrying ethanol in their tanks as a regular product offering, expect trouble. We learned here early on that ethanol will clean out every spec of rust from the storage tank and put it right into yours. Had a former employer, who told me that when on the road, look for good stations, he is a motor coach operator who traveled the US and Canada, who had personal experiance filling up at what looked to be a questionable station, but it was close to where he was and he needed fuel; said after filling he did not even get away from the pumps before trouble began, the engine would hardly run because the fuel was so poor.
  21. Before I was legal, Artic Cat mini bike and a Gemini 80. Legally, a new 1976 Yamaha RD200, put about 12000 on it; sold it and bought a 78 Yamaha 650 twin, put about 18000 on it; sold it to the future brother-in-law who still has it, stored away, hasn't moved in at least 15 years now. In 1984, bought a new carry over 82 Yamaha 650 Maxim that I still have. Between 84 and 88, put about 16000 on it, work and Kids came along and the bike got parked for a few years, have about 25000 on it now. Got my 92 venture couple of years ago, it was a basket case with just over 42000. With a lot of help from this group, got it on the road last fall for a few miles, hope to put a lot more on it this coming summer.
