  1. Hi Mark, no worries as I have no plans to sell mine! It just seems to be the best fit for us. I think I still owe you a phone call; sorry, I've been distracted with some work and personal things lately. Take care, Glenn
  2. I saw this RSTD for sale on craigslist. Looks to be a fair price. What I'm curious about is if you click on the link to see all the pictures, does anyone recognize the brand of fairing he added? It's different than the usual ones I've seen. Haven't quite decided if I like it or not. Glenn http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ank/mcy/3334460778.html
  3. Yes, Harbor Freight still sells them. Search for "tag-along" and it'll come right up.
  4. I just saw Joyce's post on FB. His condition is still not known. Thoughts & prayers sent. Glenn
  5. I have been casually looking for different pipes for my 2005 RSTD. I have pretty much the same requirements you have. So many are too loud for me. I have decided that when the checkbook will allow, I'll be looking for a set of Vance & Hines Monster Ovals (made for the Harley touring bikes). I've heard them on our V4 engine and like how they sound. Good luck!
  6. Nice job on the trunk. Looks great. One question I have is, looking at picture #4 it looks like your passenger will be leaning back a ways. Wonder how she'll like that. I know a couple of folks with Wings and the passengers have commented that they wished they sat more upright. Just wondering...
  7. Hope you have a great time. Wish we were there!
  8. Saw this article in the local newspaper this morning: http://www.southernminn.com/faribault_daily_news/news/article_8c1f0cf5-24b3-5c3c-ac32-442eae3c96e6.html They have always been fair to me, and a friendly place to shop. I think they just took on too much debt at the wrong time, not that they could see a recession coming.
  9. Some suppliers say the part is discontinued, however Phat still shows them in stock: http://www.phatperformanceparts.com/Flanders_Handlebars_Wide_Max_Pullback_Handlebars_p/650-08783.htm Good luck!
  10. This attitude alone is enough for me to never want to own a Harley (from the article above): Ron Haskell, though, has been riding Harley-Davidson bikes for 45 years. "If you don’t ride a Harley, you don’t ride a motorcycle," he said. :stirthepot:
  11. I also agree with the recommendation of Flanders bars. I had the same complaint as you with the stock bars, but absolutely no complaints now.
  12. Regarding the trademark, that makes sense. Since I have no intentions of having these badges made to resell, I guess I'm in the clear. The pillow backrest is the one that came with the Harley trunk when I bought it. I've seen the smooth backrests you mention, but I haven't decided if I want to replace it, or go with the Venture pillow top seats like you did. It's very tempting... I've read that the Venture passenger pillion will bolt right on but some mods are required for the driver's seat? Thanks for the positive comments.
  13. I just finished installing a Harley trunk on my '05 RSTD and I had the same thoughts. I was able to purchase these rails from Pinwall (http://www.pinwallcycles.com). I'd also found another seller out of Florida (sorry, can't remember their name) that had some, but they were priced higher. Good luck with the project!
  14. :sign yeah that: I'm sure you'll like the extra space to pack things for your trips. Looks nice!
  15. I went with the same Clearview (minus the vent) a couple of years ago and am very happy with it. I like it being a couple of inches shorter, as I also like to look over the top.
  16. Thanks everyone for the kind remarks. mag1101 - No, I'm not using the stock seats anymore. These are the Mustangs, which I'm happy with. I bought them before I found this site and learned of Rick Butler's seat mods. I probably would have tried that first if I'd known. Regarding the Yamaha badge - I had a local sign shop make it for me. Some have voiced concerns about using a trademark without permission, however this logo was obtained from a public "freeware" logo site so I was told there are no issues. Glenn
  17. Here's a few pics of my latest project. Whaddya think??
  18. Sorry for your loss, Mark. Be thankful both Mom & Dad are now pain-free. Prayers sent to you and your family. Glenn
  19. Mark, Sorry to hear about your Mom. Prayers sent your way from Krista & I. Cancer is an ugly disease; over the years I've lost several family members to it, lost a friend (age 51) a couple of months ago, and a co-worker is in the final stages now. Be thankful of the good times and the memories. Glenn
  20. Which model fairing from Reckless did you order? I don't see one for the RSTD specifically.
  21. I used the Yamaha OEM lights, removed the housing-mounted toggle and replaced it with this one: http://store.valueaccessories.net/handlebarswitchforlightbars1bars.aspx I have the driving lights on all the time when I ride, but like the option of being able to turn them off if necessary.
  22. I have a 2005 RSTD and experienced the same neck/shoulder pain after a long ride. After doing some research I swapped my stock bars with Flanders (I don't remember the part number , but I'm sure someone will chime in with that). The Flanders give you a little more height and additional pull-back, but don't change the width. Night and day difference, no more pain. I didn't have to change out any cables or hoses either. I recommend joining this site. Many great folks and a wealth of information.
  23. I've never installed windshield trim on any of my bikes, but I did ride one once that had it. Found it to be very distracting, almost like a mini blind spot. I think it would depend on your windshield height though. I think it does dress up the bike though. Just my 2 cents...
  24. What are you running for air pressure to get that kind of mileage?
  25. How are you planning to mount the HD trunk to your RSTD? I've been looking at doing this also and am researching ideas. I'd also like to see pics of the finished product. My email is gnesvik@yahoo.com. Good luck!
