NO the world is not coming to an end yet.... Yes I looking at buying a brand new touring bike. Banker called me this after noon and said if I wanted a new bike go find one and ride it home.. Yes I'm looking at possible Second Generation Why? got tired of waiting for them to bring back the First generation design. NO really I like the design of the Second Gen. always have even tho I give Redneck a hard time about it. Was maybe looking at 2007 or 2008 models I know nothing has changed on the design but would like to know what I need to look for in these bikes?? does all the Ventures have the CB - radio- intercom system?pillow top seats? see I do not know everything. OK I can hear him now.....go ahead Redneck Will be looking around here or may go up to Shawnee and look at their store if I can remember their name. its hard to remember when your hair starts turning gray. P.S. The 83 beast is not leaving.....

Yep living in the south has its ups and downs too. Like last weekend we put 335mi on the bike then yesterday we got 289mi and today I was only able to get 235mi on the bike wow what a slow weekend here in Oklahoma.

OK, So your saying you saw Redneck on a First gen. and he admitted he was wrong all along about the Second Gen.
-
OK JT, Where are the photos? Where did you get the welding kit from. I used the plastic weld paste in the past and would like to get the plastic weld kit. Not that I need it right now, but would like to have it on hand just in case something happens. Also am Glad things worked in your favor too. When Redneck finds out you fix the First Gen. You think he'll be happy.

Difficult Finding Neutral
buddy replied to MasterGuns's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Now that I remeber my buddy Randall changed out his clutch system on his Virgo and had all sorts of trouble shifting gears what he found out later was when he used form-a-gasket instead of the gasket it put the clutch in a bind. Once he installed the gasket his probelms went away. -
Difficult Finding Neutral

I know when its time to change the oil out on the 83. It will get real hard to shift between gears and neutral is hard to find. Once the oil is changed old 83 shifts fine untill the next oil change. May not be your problem but I hope it helps. I find that 20w50 works longer in the Beast for Summer time. -
Dont worry to much Jeff you know the Second gen. time is running out since the Third Gen. is coming very soon.... Take your time on fixing her , you know once your done you can go another 200,000 miles

If by chance they do not want to work with you on this. Don't go period. Simple as that if they dont like it Oh well its your money not theirs. There's a lot of other places I can go for 400.00 .... Eureka Springs trip is a lot cheaper than that for sure.

Glad you made it back home OK and also glad you was able to get your bike running better as well . Even when it was running bad you was getting real good gas mileage too. Hope for the better and ride safe tomorrow.

Gary that is one sweet ride for sure, Love that paint. Theres one for sale here but it does not come close to that beauty you have there. Glad your back in the saddle again Gary. who needs chrome with a paint shine like that.....
-
Gary your so very true at what you say about the easy off. I only left it on for about 2-3 min. then I remove the easy off and paint then used warm water & soap cleaned and dried then re waxed the trunk. Sure did turn out real nice

I can see why you tired the oven cleaner Lowell, last weekend your Venture Cooked my Wing a couple of times. Your bike may have some miles on her, she sure can cook a Wing thats for sure....

Most everybody Knows Peg & I just bought an 88 GL1500. Well the bike runs real good and the paint is very nice but the trunk sure was not to my liking. Has a name painted on it by the PO calling the bike "Blue on Black. I learned from the Gold Wing site that "Easy Off will remove this name paint so I tired it today and yes it remove the name and did not hurt the paint job neither. So I saved the paint job and saved me some money too. I will try to post some photos later on. my internet will not allow it right now.

Morning Lowell, Don't over do yourself trying to get to every M&E. Most folks don't see how many miles you put on your bike or the wear and tear on your body either. plus you spend twice as much on fuel this year than last year as well. I can see you at the Rallie's if you don't make any of the M&E's . Use your retirment the way you want its yours you deserve it my friend... We may not have much but you know our door is always open for you and hot coffee as well. Plus you have our phone # if you need help give us a call 24/7......

Hey JT, Don't worry about what RedNeck said. His a legend in his own mind:stirthepot: But we still Love him. Talking about the little bell, Peg bought one the other day at the Yamaha house and I set it in the trunk for the time being, last two mornings I had antifreeze in the floor. Had no leaks untill the bell came along. So I took the lower fairing apart and ran the motor for over an hour NO antifreeze leak no where? So now I figured its time to use or loose that bell. Sorry for you fairing coming apart like that. Maybe some of the family here will help you out with the parts.

You Know for the longest time I figured I dint need a GPS unit. I can look at a road map before we leave and go from memory. That's Until I rode with Wildhair39 this past weekend he used his GPS and we took off and Peg & I had a blast not having to worry about the turn offs or guessing where we were at, the GPS made our day Wildhair39 made the ride so much fun I wish it dint end.. I have the fever know. So before we leave to go to Eureka Springs I planning on having one. Thanks for the info. guys this sure does help.

Rear brake pad with pics
buddy replied to BJB's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
By looking at your photo BJ your caliper is frozen on one piston. Can be a bugger but it can be saved by taking it apart and cleaning it up real good. As long you have no pitting or scaring on the piston walls you will be OK, rebuilt caliper kit - line flushing and new pads as well. look your rotor over once you get to where you can give it a good look over. Rotor should be OK but if it has a big lip around the edge you might be looking at replacing the rotor too. As for the brake pads try and stay with the OEM , there are some out there like on EBay that would wear your rotor out. Flatout motorcycles - DGY - Buckeye performance are good dealers! On my Gold wing the rear caliper was sticking too but not from the inside but from the outside had so much road grime on the piston it would not let it retract. once I cleaned the grime away it started working fine.
