  1. I had the same problem (mostly 1up / no trailer / no high speed)last year when I got a "deal" from local shop thinking I was dealing for better Dunlops (409). Was told by other dealer that the 404's were for cruisers not tourers. Put on Metzler's this year.
  2. Horns have lost effectiveness(couldn't scare a mouse) so was wondering how many 1st Gen's have stebble horn on bike. Have seen and heard them on 2nd Gen and sounded great(not sure how police would view them when blown----only when necessary) would the large 30amp relay be a drain on stator? Where would they be best mounted?
  3. I took out 1-Ultra Classic Electra glide(full dressed-one up from Electra glide Classic) Found fairing was too close compared to mine separate turn signals were a pain heel toe shifter was too high to use and didn't look adjustable mirrors on handle-bars were a pain too try and look out of(too close to hands and cose to elbows no gear indicator besides Neutral not as much protection for legs:thumbdown: 2-Fat-boy not used to not having fairing good power-band heel-toe shifter not fitting to be used:thumbdown: 3-Road-king TOO much vibration at idle but not bad ridding windshield too close heel toe same as other's no gear indicator Main opinion is not a likely buy in near future Got back on after rides and didn't even know if it was running-----noooooo vibration and just enuff wind protection for my taste Even tho mine has lots of fairing out front and top heaviness it is the only bike I would have for now:173::173::173:
  4. Went with guy from work to the Rock's Harley test ride yesturday. Don't know why people say once you ride a Harley you won't ride anything else. Was not impressed enough to buy one unless I had amnesia and won the lottery. Was gad to get back on my own bike without all the VIBRATION and hand numbing ride.
  5. 25 years on Oct. 8 this year and something like squidley we had 7 years trial before the big day. Niece said it wouldn't last 6months.(fooled her).Like most a lot of ups and downs but all worked out.
  6. Well I think Marcarl must still be in shock after my visit yesterday. My phantom wife finally met Carl ( Marca wasn't home) after we left Norwich Ont. for a drive(in her new Sport Ute) not the bike.(last minute decision). We went out to check his bike to see if I had an idea why his bike might be acting the way it is --but I wasn't much help. She said she would try and come to the meet & eat in May .WE also gave her a look around the shop. We had a good visit for about an hour or so and it was time for Carl to finish up his closing the shop and then go for a ride to check-out his bike. Hope it went alright.
  7. According to the Manufacturer it is a ONE piece unit with the mounting tube in the middle. The picture is of one unit only --showing both sides. Seems to be like the rivco unit. It is about 7/8" thick and the filter(seperately bought) is about 3 3/8" making it about 4 1/4" total and taking rough measurements it seems to clear the chin guard.. I could show it when I receive it(if interested)
  8. Condor I do believe it is the manufacturer I am getting it from as the names are the same as your e-mail's, and he says it is cheaper to ship to U.S. than to someone down the street. Also our two taxes are payed in the shipping.
  9. Hey Condor that's where I Just bought one from yestureday. You guy's save more as we in Ontario Canada have to pay $16.50 for shipping/pst/gst(taxes).Mine should arrive next week. Borrowed extra one off Marcarl as he had an extra.(some mishap he had). Thought for a minnute that as usual I lost out on a bargain but seems no deal on quantity buy.
  10. Thanks Oldandcrotchety for the information--checked on price and are now over $100. Found another one made by someone north of Bellvelle Ontario on e-bay for $69 + shipping. Made of billet aluminum, have one coming-should be here next week. Thanks Marcarl for the extra stock cover,Works fine so I can ride until I receive the after-market one. THANKS again guys
  11. Who is using an after-market OIL filter adapter on a first-gen(86-93) I had one of the "ears" on the housing(stops housing from turning when installing and removing) fall into the drain pan when I changed oil on Sat. and was fine driving around until Tues, morning when I arrived at work and bike started to drip a little. When I came out after work and started it up it dripped a whole lot (unsafe) so I got a ride home and went back to trailer it home.Put on my repair-table and found it was leaking where the "ear" broke off. Am now looking at after-market adapters to replace it. Found one made out of billet alluminum but not sure about them---don't want to go to salvage yard as they would be as old as mine so could be as much trouble in long run. Any help would be appreciated!!!!!!
  12. Congrats from me also--it IS a VERY nice looking bike! Hopeing to see you soon as weather is nice it has been a while.
  13. I'm with hipshot and the others!!!! Couldn't get enough of him when I was younger and like said there WILL NEVER BE a replacement!!!!!!! Thanks for shareing those clips.Liked him this much:bighug:
  14. Would love to have luck in finding second bike cheap for parts (even in that shape -which is doable) or even to tinker with on stormy days or winter months. You members with two or more are the lucky ones! Good luck from one who is enveous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I think they will fit. I bought a set at a shop for $75 and the instructions were for a Gold Wing and they look the same as pictured. The one's I bought are the same size as the Baker Wings I had on the bike when I bought it. Hope this helps. I will try to take pictures.
  16. Went to London Ontario to the motorcycle show on Sat. and they had a 2008 Venture on display at Hully Gully (cycle shop). The price on the sticker was $28,000 + tax, etc. They left off shipping for the show deal. Walked around and saw a fully decked Harley Electra Glide Ultra Classic for a outrageous price of $23,345. Seems to be a big difference price wise between U.S and Canadian.
  17. Freebird--P-mailed you about payment for Guardian bell.
  18. Anyone going to London Ontario bike show on Sat? Going in morning with guys from work, maybe see someone there.
  19. I had the D404 on the front and rear of my 87 also and only got around 2000kl and went by other posts that said the Metzler tires were good, but later heard they were'nt. Have to change my front now also but am going with the Metzler just to see. I will probably try the Venom's next.
  20. Don't ask me how that stuff got on below my post! Have no idea

  22. Carl--did you think to check(or remember) which side of the little horizontal bar with idle wheel(white plastic) did you take throttle cable from? Does anyone else know.Want to haven't on the right side while bike is "naked".Just finished putting in speedo that ryder gave me. Drained gas and am starting to work on replacing all fuel lines.
  23. Picture is of my bike in the proses of changing speedo.
  24. Glad I didn't take you(Carl) and Wayne up on your offer to park my 87 in your shed so we could work on all three bikes---DON'T know WHAT would have happened and then there's the matter of CUSTODY!!!!!!!!!!!!Might have been messy .
