  1. I'm sorry for your loss. I can empathize with you, I lost my Mom and my sister within a year. They have been gone since '07 and '08 and I still miss them. You'll always remember your Dad and the memories will get sweeter as time passes.

I hate fishtails....they are ugly to me.

Thanks Don. I tried this with the '09 that I had and ran into the bracket problem. So this time I decided to use the rstd fender.....which is the same as a Road Star fender which I have one of in the shop....but in red.

I finished my StarGlide conversion today. I installed an RSTD rear fender to get rid of all the welded brackets on the RSV fender. I have a chrome fender rack ordered which should be here in the next few days.
  6. Thanks guys.... I would think that there's not much difference in 75-90 and 80-90 so I'll use it since I have it.
  7. Is Castrol 75-90 synthetic oil good for the rearend on my RSV? I don't have an owner's manual but I think that it should work ok.....?? Thanks........
  8. Man, I hope that you soon recover from this thing. I know that stuff like this can be scary but maybe between prayers and good docs you can beat it into submission. Prayers from our house to you for a quick recovery.
  9. Thanks Rick. Mine weren't dry but they looked to me like they should be greased so I went ahead and did it. None fell out and the collar seemed to be a nice close fit so I assumed that everything was fine.
  10. Well...they are greased now whether they should be or not.
  11. I just slid the collar out and put some grease on the needles with my finger and slid the collar back in....should be fine.. Thanks all for the replies.
  12. So when they say to grease the needle bearings you can't right? Not if you have to leave that in place. It has to come out to get grease into the bearings.
  13. There's an insert or bushing that slides into the center of the needle bearings that the axle goes through. To grease the bearings this whatever it's called must be removed.
  14. So....if you remove the insert from the wheel can the needle bearings fall out or are they caged to prevent this happening? Thanks...............
  15. I guarantee that I'd trade even up for an I/S in great shape.....but I don't have the money to BUY anything right now.
  16. I'm retired Navy and I took it in the context that it was written....it's funny stuff. Lighten up guys and laugh , it's good for you. I spent time with the Navy and more time as a Marine FMF corpsman. It gave me a lot of laughs.
  17. I got an email this morning saying that Pavaratti had left me 32 million in a codicil to his will. I didn't even know that he knew me....damn, I'm lucky.
  18. I just had the basket changed in my '07 RSV......no difference. Mine doesn't whine, it howls. Sounds like a worn out differential in a truck howling. Of course I didn't have sense enough to look at the marking on the basket before the dealer changed it out so I don't know what letter basket he replaced it with. I sure wish I could get rid of this noise. My '07 TD and my '09 RSV were both very quiet, not so this one. Sorry for the thread hijack.
  19. I'm always bustin' on Joe about not drinking coffee. A sailor that doesn't drink coffee...sheesh....a sacrilege!! Anyway, I bought one of those for my wife a few months ago....she loves it, being a professional shooter.
  20. Is that a ProTac backrest? If so, then I'd like to take it off your hands...if I can afford to do so. I'm thinking that is should work on a RSV too....whatcha think?
  21. Can't you just cap the vacuum tubes on the carbs and render the AIS inoperable? Wouldn't that save a lot of work...if one wanted the AIS to not work.
  22. In a heartbeat!!! I had a 1500 Wing and hated it...it was a complete dog. But I do love the 1800s...smooth, fast, handle well. But then I do have a BIG love for the Valk I/S. It would be a hard choice if I had to pick between the 2 of them.
  23. We are SO vulnerable......I give thanks every time I return home safely. No matter how well we ride we are at the mercy of stupid drivers!
  24. ....even a caveman...............
