  1. Really Nice! I'd like to hear those old P90s. Way out of my price range... Probably could trade it for a 2nd Gen! That could be worth 5k or more? I'm not sure. Did you ask them if they want to buy it or have them appraise it for your insurance? Different numbers for buying, selling, and insuring! Good Luck!
  2. If it's not too late, put me in for two of the 3.5" Thanks, James
  3. I don't know, could I pull this with the Venture? or just load the Venture inside with all my gear! http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/jbmaynard/MobileStageTrailer003.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/jbmaynard/MobileStageTrailer.jpg
  4. Way too many vintage amps! I started collecting them about 10 years ago and couldn't find the brakes until recently. I've started selling off a few and replacing them like sell 4-5 and buy 1 nicer one. I have a lot of late '50s, '60s, and '70s Gibsons, Silvertones, Fenders and Traynors (not as well known, but just as nice, from Canada) Let me know if you're looking for anything, I may have it!
  5. Hadn't seen this thread, so I thought I would join in. Hi My name is James and I'm a guitar addict. (and I think Don has definately contracted G.A.S.) A few of my favorite electrics... (+ a few more electrics not pictured) http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/jbmaynard/Ibanez%20Guitars/IMG_1732.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/jbmaynard/Ibanez%20Guitars/IMG_1729.jpg the '78 Ibanez was my most recent attack of GAS... http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/jbmaynard/Ibanez%20Guitars/2619onEbayfront.jpg hanging alongside my '04 Ibanez, only 35 made. http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/jbmaynard/Ibanez%20Guitars/OldandNew2.jpg and my prize Baruke acoustic built by my friend and local luthier... (several more nice acoustics to keep her company) http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/jbmaynard/Baruke%20Jubilee/DSCN2804.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/jbmaynard/Baruke%20Jubilee/DSCN2807.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/jbmaynard/Baruke%20Jubilee/DSCN2796.jpg
  6. Here's some reading material. Links on the left side of this page provide a pretty good intruduction to MC Clubs. http://www.rcvsmc.net/index.html that I got from the US Military Vets MC, Virginia State Chapter site. http://www.usmvmcva1.org/links.htm
  7. Thanks for posting! Always good to meet new riders and share stories. What is your planned route from Roswell to Blairsville? I expect you might come through Dahlonega to Turners Corner? Or through Cleveland? I haven't got anything planned yet, and might be interested in joining you along the way. I live in Cleveland GA. Be Blessed! James
  8. Raining yesterday, and it's overcast today and about to rain again. I took the seat outside and took pictures but the color may not be exactly right. If I get a sunny day this weekend I'll take some more. The last two pics show the wear I mentioned. It's not bad, but I wanted to be up front about it. Other than these "rubs" the seat is in very good shape. http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/jbmaynard/Yamaha%20Venture/IMG_1358.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/jbmaynard/Yamaha%20Venture/IMG_1359.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/jbmaynard/Yamaha%20Venture/IMG_1360.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g158/jbmaynard/Yamaha%20Venture/IMG_1361.jpg
  9. Somehow I missed the reply. I looked for PMs whenever I stopped by, but for some reason didn't get back here to see you reply. I'm sorry! I'll get the seat out in the daylight this afternoon and shoot some pictures and post them this evening. Thanks for the interest! James
  10. I punctured my Dunlop E3 with less than 150 miles on it, so for me, replacing it was not an option. I did my homework and concluded that a plug/patch like the one above would be the best fix. When I took it back to the motorcycle tire store where I bought the tires he called Dunlop and talked to them and they supported the idea of using a plug/patch, however he was insistant on putting a tube in it, so mine now has a tube. My .02 and YMMV
  11. Thanks for the advice! I'm really looking forward to this little trip. James
  12. actually Naperville is where I'll be Friday around lunch time. Of course Chicago style pizza comes to mind, but what else would you consider that is only or the best is available in the Chicago area? Chicago style hot dogs has been suggested, too. I found Giordano's and Lou Malnati's pizza in Naperville rated very highly. Also Portillo's Hot Dogs looks promising. I'm getting really hungry now!!! Also, do you know a good pawn shop with lot's of guitars? Or a music store that has lot's of used equipment? I'm flying my 50 year old Fender Super Amp up there Friday to have it repaired and serviced at Victoria Amps. Brother gets me buddy passes, so flying it up there is not much more than shipping it and it can't get lost or destroyed! Should be a nice adventure. Thanks, James
  13. I've got a Corbin my co-pilot didn't like and would be willing to do a little trading with you. It's a dark grey if that will work and shows a little wear, but I found it to be more comfortable than the stock pillow top. I really liked being able to slide and move around easier. However my bride likes the softer stock seat, so I went back to stock. It includes the matching passenger back/arm rests. If you want to see pictures I can take some tomorrow afternoon and send them to you. James
  14. Never Mind... I just heard fromt the owner and he's going to ship them to me himself. Please resume your normal programming!
  15. I know we have a few (or many) members in Texas, but Texas is a big place. I may need some Venture Rider assistance in the San Antonio area. Just wanted to reach out and see who is there. It would involve meeting someone at the Bass Pro Shop near I-10W and Loop 1604 and then dropping a package in the mail to me. I may be able to get the owner to ship to me, and the deal may not happen, I'm just trying to be prepared. Thanks, James
  16. +1 for Two Wheel Inn and Microtel in Robbinsville +2 for the Iron Horse and also Cheraholla Motorcycle Resort in Tellico Plains +3 for the Dragon V at Vogel, you can't go wrong with this one! So much to see! The Blue Ridge Parkway up past Ashville to Grandfather Mountain and Blowing Rock, and SO many great little roads dropping down off the parkway. (Don't miss the Linn Cove Viaduct across Grandfather Mountain) You could stay a night or two at Little Switzerland and explore the parkway above Ashville. (I don't know the parkway north of there, but there's another 300 miles of it extending on up to Skyline Drive in Virginia) In Ashville the Biltmore House and Grove Park Inn are just two landmarks. South of Ashville on the parkway check out NC highways 81, 276, 215, 281, maybe Maggie Valley, Bryson City, Cherokee, and don't miss Hwy 28 down to Franklin and 64 west of Franklin to Wayah Rd which will end up near 129 to continue on to the Dragon. I like many of these roads better than the Dragon, but you will want to check out the famous Dragon's Tail. Spend the night at the Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge in Steccoa (just outside of Robbinsville) and then be sure to ride the Cheraholla Skyway (143) over to Tellico Plains, TN. Be sure to save at least a day for NE Georgia. From Tellico Plains you could take 315 south to Reliance and then 30 to Hwy 64 at Lake Ocoee. Hwy 64 east (make sure it's re-opened?) is a nice ride along the Ocoee River (maybe stop and take a guided trip down some great whitewater) to Ducktown and then take 68 into Georgia where it becomes GA Hwy 60. 60 will take you dow to Two Wheels Only and then hang a left on Hwy 180 over to 129 at Vogel State Park. Right on 129 toward Cleveland and left on Alt 75 up to Helen, north Georgia's little Bavarian Village for a possible overnight. GA 348, Richard Russell Scenic Hwy turns left off Alt 75 just before you get to Helen. (It's closed now but should re-open soon) Loop across Richard Russell Scenic Hwy and take a right on 180 to get to Brasstown Bald, the highest point in GA, then continue 180 to 17/75 south back to Helen. From Helen you could head north on 17/75, right on 356 just north of Helen to Hwy 197 north to Lake Burton and then 76 east to Clayton. Another possible overnight is the Dillard House north of Clayton, GREAT food! From the Dillard House is another nice loop, continue north on 441 to turn right on 246 just before the NC state line. It will become NC 106 and take you to Highlands NC and 28 back south from Highlands into GA where you want to take a right on Warwoman Rd back to Clayton. Whew! Lot to digest there, and I'm sure there are just as many great roads and places I've left out, but it should give you something to think about! Google is your friend. Ride Safe! James
  17. You may want to take a look at the Made in USA (Missouri) Simplicity brand. We bought ours three years ago and it has been a good one. I was impressed with the build quality compared to less expensive department store brands. They are not cheap, and I've never owned a Dyson, or any other mid or high end vacuum cleaner, so this is just my .01 for you to consider. Just do your homework as you are doing here. Lot's of props for the Dyson, sounds like a good option. Tacony is the parent company and also has a another brand of vacuum called Riccar. I don't know anything about them. http://www.simplicityvac.com/ http://www.tacony.com/ http://www.riccar.com/
  18. Yep, I used to smile every time I bought gas then flipped the lever off and pulled the handle again to drain that last bit of gas into mmy tank!
  19. Not sure how much this will help, but it's a site that I use to find the best deals on all kinds of items. www.slickdeals.net I did a search for "wii" and found a few deals listed recently at Dell, NewEgg, and Walmart.com but I don'e know about getting it up there? http://slickdeals.net/forums/sdsearch.php?s=&forumchoice%5B%5D=9&childforums=1&mode=forum&search=wii&showposts=0 YMMV

  21. A couple of things I read on another forum discussing octane. Depending on the location and the station, they may not sell much premium, especially with the higher prices. This could mean that the gas has been sitting in the underground tank for longer periods, and the tank could be less than full lot's of time. This could potentially lead to contamination. Now, I read that on the internet, so it must be true! Anyway it was something that made me think about the fuel coming out of the premium tanks around here. The other thing was more important with the small tanks and (sometimes) one gallon fill ups of the dual sports. If the pump has a single hose switching between all three grades, there is some amount of fuel in the hose that is left from the previous customer. How much, I don't know? But again, it gave me cause to think. As far as my '01 Venture goes, I've put regular in it almost every time and I've never heard it knocking, so I'll continue to run regular in mine. Have a Blessed Day! James
  22. This came up on another forum where we were talking about roof top tents and late night bathroom calls. I haven't used one myself, but it looks like a great idea. http://www.traveljohn.com/1-1-1.php
  23. Check this site out. Too pricey for me, but LOT'S of exciting adventures to be had around the country. http://www.greatamericandays.com/
  24. Thanks! That's what I was thinking, I'll pick up the LED kit next week.
  25. Not to thread jack, but.... I'm getting my new (to me) little trailer ready to go and thinking about the wiring, I don't want to have any problems with overloading the existing circuits. From what I've read so far I would need to adapt from 5 wire to 4 wire and preferably use a relay and wire to the battery to be safe? What if I convert to LED lights? With a lot less wattage would it be OK not to use a relay? I haven't really looked at the bike yet. I bought it used and it came with the hitch installed, so it may already be wired, but no idea how it is wired. Harbor Freight has the LED light kit on sale in the current catalog for $29.95 and there's a 20% coupon on there, so I'm thinking about installing LED anyway. Thanks, James
