  1. You know I am an expert at taking all the plastic off a 1st gen, I have redone enough of them to be good at it The bike wasn't exactly what I expected and you guys know me, I wont ride a bike that is shoddy. I'm going to change all the fluids and tires, grease the driveshaft and such. When I want to go somewhere I dont want to have to worry about anything going wrong.
  2. I would be interested in some of that black wire Dick, shoot me a PM and we'll chat
  3. Curtis, Dont worry about what everyone thinks of it, if it works for you and doesn't adversely affect the handling then it's good Bring it to the rally as I know there will be someone there that will like to see what you created. I wish that I could be there to see it, but alas thats not going to happen
  4. I'm sorry were there pictures

  8. Charlie....I have been as busy as a 1 legged man in an arse kicking contest. I did get your email and I thank you for sharing the sceret bike with me 1st. If I had the time to tell you of our trip to get my new bike , I would. That will have to wait for a day or 2. I do like your new toy and look forward to you sleeping in your bedroom again, as always the door is open day or night....just knock before you come in
  9. If I get down to Georgia anytime I'll get hooked up with you. If you want to call me my cell# is in my profile. If you have some experience I might be able to talk you through whatever you want done.

Karl, Sorry we couldn't hook up with you yesterday....but we did get the trailer back home today along with the new scoot. I like this area and I try to get the M&E around here and show some of the nicer spots. We'll get another one rolling and get you over here...BTW here's the pics of the trailer....
  11. OK already...here are a few pics of the new scoot
  12. Yeah we made it out of the woods We do have a hell of a story to tell, but not tonight, Thanks again for all the hospitality and it was great being able to spend some quality time with all of you folks
  13. Story telling to be sure just like you tried to do with that ice cream gal, your just put out cause you didn't think of it 1st....some folks never learn Lonna and I want to thank you and Taters for your hospitality, we had a great time doing nothing yesterday with you 2. We obviously are still at Bob's, getting ready to eat breakfast But will be shuffling off away from Buffalo soon. Thank you both again and always remember there is a spare bedroom with a REAL BED waiting for you 2....be safe my friend
  14. As much as I hate hearing of you guys putting 100 lbs of air in a tire to seat it, lube the hell out of the bead and the rim. That is the only thing that is going to make it go on easier. Like Forrest mentioned, clean the rim to as smooth as you can get it.....good luck
  15. That is a great idea TJ...maybe your sis can make a few extra bucks doing that on certain other bikes
  16. I have used both these oils and they are great to use. I wouldn't switch to the synthetics, you will start to leak, I had that happen on my 1st '86 and just went back over to the dead dinosaurs.....dont waste your time. Steve, I dont know about all cases, but everyone that I have done or personally seen done has turned out the same, they leaked oil. This could have been the fact that the condition of the gaskets were less than perfect, and on a 20+ year old machine that is usually the case. Synthetics are great tools, but proper oil changes on any machine will extend the life of any engine.
  17. Be good and stay off it as much as you can...we want you nhere for a long time my friend
  18. I dont think you damaged anything, the forks are pretty stout. As far as changing the oil in the forks if I understood you right you said you were pulling the retaining bolts under the fork tubes. If thats the case your draining them from the wrong area. There are 2 phillips head screws on the back side of the lower tubes that you drain the fork oil from. Pull that one out and see what drains out, let us know how you do and we'll get you in the right direction.
  19. I have been pretty good at keeping it a secret Joe.....but I'll have pic's up by Monday
  20. Hey Craig, Thanks for the heads up with Gary, I'll call him. Missed all you folks too, looked like a great time in WV...going to get the new bike this weekend in Vermont
  21. Thanks for the link Nick
  22. Make sure that if you fabricate something like that, make it bomb proof. Your asking an extention to hold the entire weight of your passenger upon getting on the bike. Thats not meant to be a smartassed statement, just keep in mind that the floorboard mountings are made to support LOTS of weight...just wanted to toss that out
  23. Do you have a direct link to the store?
  24. Momma has taken a few like that herself, thats a good for sure
  25. Folks I have put up Wrongways set of pillow top seats from his '04 in the classifieds. I know there are some of you that have been looking for a set and here is one for you.
