I hope he does you good on the repair, and there is some sence in that Yamaha probably hates us here with this website. I guarantee the feeling can be mutual at times
-
I know...but I like to bust your chops from time to time Now I'd love to come up there, but I wont have a lot of time off now. You could always plan a trip down here and we could make that valve shim happen
-
You ain't right mister!
-
Dont be too hard on him Kenny, he's getting forgetful in his VERY advanced age

If your talking about the actual passing lights, I wouldn't go with anything less than a 15 amp fuse and no more than a 20. It really depends on the wire size that was used to feed the lights, the majority I have seen are a 14 gauge wire and that dicatates the fuse size.

Oh yeah...,now you tell him

It's great to hear that they are hooking you up. My biggest complaint is....why doesn't an authorized Yamaha dealer know of these things? Is mother yamaha so complacent that they dont get information like this out to it's dealers or is the dealer so unorganized that they dont stay abreast of the notices? Not trying to rain on the posting, just feel like these issues should be taken care of without all of us "peons" informing them

I figured the indigenous folks would like my choice of vernacular

Second Gen. (and First Gen.) Clutch Spring Kit Shipping!
Squidley replied to skydoc_17's topic in Watering Hole
Earl, I haven't ordered this kit from you, but I know who you are. Your as stand up a guy as I have ever known, just so folks know, they have nothing to worry about when it comes to your timelieness. Thanks for all you do for the folks on this site, things will all fall into place and I'll speak for many of us in saying thank you for keeping us informed -
Dale, That rear cover has a bushing in it that is where the shifter linkage pivots. If by change it fell out of the bushing while you had it loose that might be your issue. It's a longshot, but I would check and see that it's all moving like it should

Thanks folks, Lonna and I are very fortunate to be able to have all y'all in our lives here....Thanks again

.....But Finally Finally Finally!....I got a job I'd like to share this with you folks, there are many here in Texas and all over that have helped Lonna and I while we were down and as poor as poor could be. We have the best friends anyone could deserve, and there are many here that I love beyond words. Today, with the help of one of my best friends, Ponch, I was able to get hired in where David works @ Dicar as a machinery maintenance man. The pay is decent, 1/3 less than what I was making....but I have a job. I will tell you all here that I keep things close to the cuff when it comes to how we are doing. We have always been ok, but I have been as depressed and down as any other time in my life. Not being able to support your family wears on a guy. Lonna and I have been "homeless" since we packed up and left out house in Michigan in late October. Gunboat has been the best blessing we could have hoped for, he is one of my best friends and I love him dearly. Without him, we wouldn't have been able to come to Texas, and I can never repay him for all he has put himself through to help both Lonna and myself. I would like to tell you all that I am giddy with excitement, and perhaps tomorrow I will be. But today, I am just relieved, the kind of relief you have when you have been fighting a Gorilla for 7 months and can finally stop fighting with him. I am happy, and I am so looking forward to be able to make some money. I know we all complain about work, I know when it's 100 degrees in August here I will too....but I will remember that I have a job to be able to go to. No great revelations, No banners or Hoopla, just thankful that I can give my brain a little rest and get that elephant off my chest. To all my brothers and sisters here that said a prayer for us....Thank you.

I know for a 1st gen, if it works like they claim, it would be very slick for the cassette deck on them. Perhaps we can recruit us a 1st genner to give it a try
-
Your not going to hurt anything, I did the same thing on one of my 1st gens after I tried syn and it leaked out the gaskets after cleaning all the sludge out of them switch it over, you'll be fine.
-
That aluminum cycle lift is a good deal too, along with the 6" digital calipers (which are good for setting floats )
-
Ross, You own a 2nd gen, are you thinking about this for you and your bike? If so then just plug a stereo pigtail into the jack behind the cassette door and into an MP3 I know we had a post on here about an adapter like you talk about, but I dont remember anything coming of it. You might decide that you want to be the gineau pig and try this, doesn't look like it will break the bank.
-
Troubling news Randy, I do hope that all turns out well, you folks have been through too much these last few years. Your in our thoughts my friend.
-
I wouldn't worry about it, I have never seen or heard of one of them breaking. Trust me, if your cover didn't leak when you put it back together....DONT TAKE IT BACK OFF because it will damn sure leak when you reinstall it
-
I know of the gear your talking about, and it does indeed look plastic. I am trying to think of what it might be to, but can't think of it right now. I looked in the Yamaha parts catalog and I dont see it there either....Hmmmm Looking at the parts view further the only "Guess" I have is actually part of the Oil Pump as unlikely as that seems.

Dave, I have bought from Zanotti H/D Yamaha and they are pretty competitive on their prices. The am/fm antenna is $83.75 USD the cb is $151.58 the shipping to one of us stateside would probably be in the $15 area, then us to you would more than likely be $30 to get it across the pond. Zanotti might ship directly to you, but that would have to be verified I would hazard to guess the entire deal would be close to $300 USD. I have used Firestick antennas in the past and they have worked well. They go for about $25 each and are tuneable for the CB. I have replaced 2nd gen antennas before complete with mounts for less than $100 USD. If you want stock, we can make that happen. Shoot a PM and we'll see what we can make happen for you

Who are you trying to kid mister! ....The new you, yeah right

Tom, Your more than welcome my friend, I'm very happy to hear that Deb likes the final result. We too enjoyed the time with you folks...it got us out of Houston for a few days We'll get back out there and put a few miles on the scoots, y'all be safe and thank you again. Yammer....we helped Tom remove some nasty undergrowth from around his property, just so your not going crazy trying to figure it out
