  1. Good luck!!
  2. It is sad that there are so many that care nothing about anyone else, and they can't realize that they might not have anything today if not for these Veterans. I am glad to see that someone helped him. He, like so many other Vets, was probably poor, and had an old ratty car. They deserve way more than this country does for them.
  3. I have a special place in my heart for our WWII vets, and they are disappearing rapidly. Thank one if you have the opportunity to meet one.
  4. Thank you all for your service, past, present and future!! FC3 Patrick M. Payton
  5. Usually, you can scotch-brite the brake pads and rotors, and the noise will disappear. The brakes tend to get heat glazed, and get noisy. This is caused from the drivers' braking habits....riding the brakes too much, and getting them too hot.
  6. Very very nice. I like it alot!
  7. I have that also. It sounds like crickets chirping, and it comes from the right front, around the water pump. Seems lots of Yamahas have that sound. It's normal.
  8. I used to use my truck to do it, until I figured out you could do it pretty easy by using a big c-clamp.
  9. There is a procedure in the tech section. Remove the instrument panel, and put some white lithium grease in the brass bushing at the entrance to the speedometer. you may have to use a needle or something similar to get it in there. That is the ONLY way I could get mine to shut up. Here it is... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8296&highlight=speedometer+lubrication
  10. I carry a plastic disc that was made for this purpose. I have a string with a loop on one end, which I put over my clutch handle and grip. That way, I see it and don't forget it.

  12. I will reboot it. I've been out of town on business all week.
  13. My heart goes out to her family. The little ones are always the hardest. I hope the woman loses her license. On a similar note... Saturday night, after hanging out with a friend at a benefit ride, about 4 hours later I hear my EMS radio go off stating a motorcycle vs deer. I listened to it, but I didn't know who it was. The next day, I got up and drove down here to Chattanooga. I talked to my wife last night, and she informed me that it was the same friend that I was with a few hours earlier, that was involved in the crash. He has lots of rash, and 15 fractures in his ribs....very lucky, as he t-boned the deer at 65mph. I guess he has nine lives, as he is an ex Pennsylvania State Motorcycle Trooper, and already has only one arm from a previous crash years ago. He says he saw the first 2 deer, but not the 3rd. He will make it home today, and his bike is trashed.
  14. Wouldn't you want to mount it on the rear of your travel trailer, since you are already pulling the trailer with your truck?
  15. Glad you are back. We were almost out of relative bearing grease.
  16. I would try a 2-part epoxy that comes with the double syringe. Stuff works great. You can find it at Wallyworld or any auto parts store.
  17. Don't worry about it Bob. I am easy to get along with. All I know is, my headlight works, and then when I switch to high beam, it gets alot brighter, so I am assuming both filaments work. I haven't actually tried blinding myself by looking into the light itself to see. I actually see quite a difference between the two. The white indicator on the dash has never been on. I have already soldered the CMS. I may try to pull it again, and clean up the connectors on the main plug.
  18. It should have a 4-way plug, and a relay....right? The plus and minus are for battery voltage and ground...and the other two are for your stock horn wires. EDIT... Here ya go. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/snpnp_01_LRG.jpg
  19. Both of my lights are hooked up...stock and LED. What I am trying to tell you, is that the headlight indicator has NOTHING to do with the taillights. There is a separate taillight indicator for that.

    Highway pegs

Thanks. When it quits raining(if ever), I'll run up the hill and give those a try. The shop here by my house has several sets of Kuryakins...even the widows...I love those. They also have the extensions. Looking at them on the wall, it just seems that they won't be forward enough to get my legs straightened out. I'll just have to try them on and see. Gonna cost a little over $200 though.

    Highway pegs

The guy who made the Highway Ottomans...MIke Patch, went out of business in 2008. He wasn't making enough off of them.
  22. Does anyone use highway pegs on their 1st Gen? I had to remove my lower louvres(see pic) to allow my legs to be able to extend out for pegs, but I haven't gotten a pair yet. It seems to me that if I put them on the engine guard, they won't be out far enough for me to extend my legs. I am 6'. Looking for ideas so I can get a set of pegs.
  23. Didn't mean to hijack this thread. I have an LED license plate frame that is both taillight and brakelight. I also still have my stock brake/tail light hooked up. The bike had this setup when I bought it, and it works great. The HEADLIGHT icon is the one that's staying on...not the Taillight. The headlight itself is working fine, on both bright and dim. I would imagine that the problem is somewhere in the CMS circuitry, but I could be wrong. When I get time to remove the trunk, and access my rear relay panel, I will disconnect the LED light, and see if the problem goes away...but I bet it won't.
  24. Around here, the majority of all bikers wave. Hell, around here, everyone waves at everyone anyway...cage or bike. When I first moved down here, people would wave at me(in the cage), and I would look to see if I knew them or something, as I wasn't used to that. I learned that people are generally friendlier in the South. When overtaking another bike, I just generally look them in the eye and nod. There are a few that don't wave, but I don't know their reason, so I don't dwell on it. I just continue on, and enjoy the ride.
  25. Here is the quote from mbrood... "The sensor wants to SHOW a voltage to the computer monitor but NOT without resistance. 12V direct will blow a chip in the CMS (it can be relaced but a pain to do it)... The mod is just a 2.2K Ohm, 1/8th watt resistor, in-line from the accessory fuse to the white/red wire connector for the probe... and most auto stores sell the rubber jacketed "Johnson" connector to make up a neat jumper (you need the female). The chip in the CMS is a TD62504P. There are two on the computer board and the battery sensor connects to pin 1 on one of the chips. That is the one to change. "
