As Arte Johnson used to say "VERRRRYYY Interesting!" That bike, and I'd be willing to bet it's the same one, sold on eBay just over a month or so ago for $11,500. It's the same model, color, mileage, w/Voyager kit, and for the same reason. It was the wife's bike and she'd had an accident to where she couldn't ride her own bike and would now have to ride two up with her hubby. If I could have figured out a way to pay for it, I would have bought it myself as that is exactly what I'm looking at doing with my own Venture {after I've bought one of course!}. Voyager kits run about $4k to $5k brand new. They have slightly different designs depending on which bike you have and can be interchangeble between bikes so long as both take the same model. All you would need extra in that case would be the mounting kit for the second bike. If you can find the right Voyager model for your bike used, you can save some serious bucks. The fun part about the Voyager kit is that your bike is a "trike" when you want it to be and a 2 wheeler when you don't want the "trike". BTW, full out trike kits start at about $10k and go up from there.

Are you sure you worded that right? Protect yourself with seat belt/helmet and NOT have medical coverage??? I think you got that part of your descriptions backwards.

Definitely bad news. At least you are OK. As for your neighbor and his lil fire, one of the guys who lives not far from us thought he'd do some welding out in his pasture during a dry spell. By the time they got that fire under control, over 100+ acres were gone. The local VFD's kept any houses from going up but several barns were gone. A friend of ours had penned up his cattle in brand new working pens getting them ready for market. By the time the cops let him go home to his place, he was sure he was going home to one VERY large pile of roast beef [his words!]. Well fortunately for him, those pens weren't as well built as he thought. The cattle had completely flattened 2 sides of the pen in their escape. I never have found out just what his own stupidity cost the dingbat with the welding rig but I'll bet it was a very tidy sum! Any possibility of suing the pants off your neighbor???

Full agreement on that. I always ride MOTGATT. And that includes on 90*+ days here in Texas. The only semi serious laydown I've ever had on my bike was when I was wearing ATTGATT, full face helmet, mesh jacket, gloves, and armored riding jeans. Only injury I had was from where my hand had hit the mirror stem. If I had been wearing my armored gloves, I would not have had that much. The rain gear I was wearing was completely shredded. My full face had a 3 in wide diagonal graze across the front of it from where I landed face first in a gravel patch and is also why you'll never see me in anything that does not have a full face shield on it. Standard gear for me is usually one of my mesh or leather jackets depending on the weather, gloves, and either my full or flip face helmets. I might take the jacket off while I'm riding in Houston/Austin city traffic [i live halfway between both] but if I get on one of the highways, the jacket goes back on. The PIP coverage on my bike insurance is not enough for me to be willing to take 6+ months off without pay while I heal up!

What has winter got to do with it? I live just outside Houston. We ride year round down here. As for the ankle, I saw the doc a week ago. Stitches out and a new cast and I still can't put any weight on it for another 3 weeks. RATS!! At least this cast is easier to deal with than the surgical one.

No question on it being HD riders!! :crackup:And IF the story is a fake, it's being real would not surprise me either. Some of the stuff these dingbats do, even those who are not activists, cracks me up almost as much as it irritates me. One of my horse groups had a post by a Colo. member whose husband is a farrier. He sets up on weekends in the parking area of one of the local state parks so riders who are going out on the trails can make sure their horses are shod properly for the terrain. A lady visitor to the park watched him for some time and then tried to get the park ranger to make him stop putting nails in the horses' hooves! Some people!!

OK so he can fly the flag. He just can't do it on a pole?? My first question would be - How long has he had the pole? And why didn't they ask him to stop putting it up in the first place? I cannot see any way that a flagpole could not be "aesthetically pleasing" {sp?}. The man spent most of his adult life making sure those dodos could sue him for using a flagpole? So called homeowners associations have little tin god complexes. One here in Houston told one family that they could not keep their brand new $50K+ Ford Supercrew pickup. It was not a good enough brand to be seen in that neighborhood! The dingbats finally decided that the family could keep it but only if they parked it in their garage. They couldn't park it on the street or in their own driveway. Up to a certain point, homeowners associations do serve a purpose. But there should be a limit in just what they can do. Just remember this mess any time you move into a restricted neighborhood. Make sure what the homeowners association can do and what it can't. One lady in Houston found out that by missing her membership dues one year, they could take her house and "auction" it off to someone for a 10th of what it was worth. She got her house back, after the association found itself under investigation by the State Attorney General!

It all sounds familiar. I'm not a big fan of the local Yammy dealership. Very little outside of some bikes. I sometimes think they do a bigger business in ATV's than in bikes. Their outside displays are almost always ATV's. Anytime I wanted something for my bike, it had to be ordered. As for the ?service? department. . . . . I am something of a fan of the Honda dealer in Katy, Wild West Honda. These guys are dealers for Honda, Kawasaki, BMW, KTM, and who knows what else. Always a good selection of bikes, both crotch rockets and cruisers. Always at least 2 GW's on the floor, and one of the larger, if not the largest, selections of used bikes in town. I almost always find at least one I have to sit on and check out. A decent selection of gear [inc. touring] and helmets for both "standard" riders as well as motocross/dirt biking, several different brands on display. The parts department is like walking into your local AutoZone, full parts counter with usually 3 guys working it. It's quite something. I bought one of my mesh jackets from them when they clearanced it out on eBay. Sometimes I almost wish I had a Honda so I could do more business with them . Katy Yamaha is under "new ownership/management". I've been spending some time there talking to one of the salesmen and their service manager. Good selection of bikes, no RSV's the last time I was there but if anyone is interested in a red RSTD ?? Parts guys have no problems checking prices for you but as to what they have on hand??? For you local dudes, they're currently running a special on oil changes on Saturdays, $39, extra if you're on an 1100cc or want synth. oil. Plans are to take my 650 down there next weekend [the 12th] for that. You don't want to know what Brandon, the service manager, thinks of it .

Local boy down here was hunting up in Nebr. Got himself a 38 pointer. The nearly 300 lb buck comes in at 292 points on the scale. Word is that Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops are in a bidding war over the head. Photo in the local paper was absolutely unbelievable.

Dummy that I am, I've never looked at the merchandise section of the forum. Well, now I have. The new patch looks great with the addition of the globe behind it but I've other plans for the back of my future vest. I got to see some of the others' vests at the Houston M&E yesterday. Got my lil mind spinning with plans for my own version. Being an ex-cb'er, the vest I had back then was somethin! Although doing the same on a leather vest just might give me some very sore fingers . Will definitely have to keep an eye out for some of the bigger patches like the "Lady Rider" one I saw yesterday. I won't be getting in on the big patch order but I'll be getting a couple of the smaller ones, funds permitting, later on. PS for FB. Please put me down for one of the guardian bells for when you order the next batch!

It can get cold down here. I live just about an hour's drive out of Houston and we get some storms that remind me an awful lot of home {Ill.} One memorable winter, we were living in an older home with no insulation to speak of, no central a/h, and and an extreme freeze hit. End result was a kerosene heater set up in the middle of the living room floor, all other rooms closed off except for kitchen and front bed/bath. LOTS of "fun" that was. I've also had it where there was enough ice on my F150 to where I couldn't get the doors open and that was just 2 years ago. We may be able to ride year round here but sometimes Mother Nature just like to remind us just what kind of a PitA she can be. Since our entire family lives out of state to us, winter gear is a must have in this household. I've gotten some very strange looks when I buy what I need for visits home. With the Mum in Illinois and the bro in law in Minneapolis, what I wear down here usually won't work in December up there! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Well I think you've got enough committments for the 25! I'm interested in at least one if not two but never having seen the "old" one, could you post a larger pic than your avatar of the new one?

To FB Yes I want my second mug. Here's the skinny! I emailed Highwave off of one of their websites. A very quick reply came informing me that the mesh strainer on their site will fit our mugs. Cost $1 :ICshocked: plus shipping of course. They have quite a product list, lots of interesting goodies. I'm looking at buying a couple of the mesh strainers and who knows what else!!! If the rest of their stuff is as good as the mugs, I could end up a fair bit poorer . If anyone is interested in what they've got, here's the link to one of the sites. http://highwave.bigcartel.com/products Have Fun!!

OK Gang, I've got a severe case of curiosity going here. I've got my mug and am waiting on a second from FB. When I opened mine, I found a card inside mentioning the mesh strainer that was to be used for making tea inside the mug. No mesh strainer was included. I checked out a link on the Forum website for the JoeMos [would you believe CoffeeCake.com?] and their JoeMo includes the mesh strainer. Did anyone else get the strainer? Or did mine just miss out on it or something? I'm a major tea drinker and quite often would rather drink it than some gas station's "can I drink it?" coffee [i take teabags on the road with me]. I can't see the manufacturer including that card if the set did not include the strainer. And if the strainer was not included, why? Now I'm wondering where I can get that strainer!!

Got mine too! Having serious thoughts of making it two! Any left?? BTW Bryan . . . idiot out wOndering around???
-
Ok Count me in for two of the 2nd gens. Just PM me and let me know when to send the cash. Figured I'd better not wait either. Sent in the cash for my two!
-
Dough sent for one. Come another payday, I might make it two!

We won't get into whether or not she should wear a helmet. I'm MOTGATT or ATGATT and we'll let it go at that . As for the hair problem, mine goes about halfway down my back. Normal for me is an elastic bandana [helmet hair is a b***h] and a ponytail. I usually pull my hair thru the pony tail band about 4 times but I don't pull it all the way thru on the 4th time. End result is a loop of hair that keeps the ends from blowing in the wind and turning into snarl heaven. I can reccomend the Pantene light conditioning detangler. Works great and my hair feels good after using it .

Friend of mine has a do it yourself mirror stick. He bought a cheap putter, glued the magnifying half of a compact mirror to the head, and he's good to go. I'm planning on trying that set up myself. I'm nearsighted enough these days that a standard mirror might not cut it .

Rick Here are a couple pics. Hope I'm doing this right.

Rick Can you mod a 650 Custom seat the same way? Have you done one before?
-
YEP! That's the world's most expensive jigsaw puzzle!!

Interesting mod. Hopefully someone did some aeronautical [sp?] engineering work on it before they built the darn thing. Get caught by the wrong wind and you could go flying, literally! BTW What's a wirper?
