Dont feel bad I have done the same thing to mine I always get 2 oil pan gaskets when I order because I either tear one or loose one. We are glad to hear that you got the scoot back on the road. Now it should run faster its got a First Gen part on it. Jeff

Your local locksmith can cut you one the blank is an ILCo X120. They should be able to get the key code from Yamaha with the locksmith license number. Jeff

If true carb heat were to fail on any motor that has it, you would know because the fuel would freeze up in the venturi's, causing decreased performance and possibly shutting the engine down if the ice gets bad enough. Jeff

Man you all must have been bored to watch the fools on the CRs for so long even the kid in the pic looks bored. See ya on the 13th Jeff
-
If you truly do have carb heat it is to keep the fuel from freezing after it goes through the venturi's I was not aware that the second gens had carb heat I will be looking at my books later to see what type heaters they have. First gens dont have carb heat so this is news to me Jeff

No I do not pull the fairing off to remove the carbs.Pull the water hose out of the carbs way lift the right side and wiggle the carbs out of the left side.I also reove the cables at the black diamondish shaped box that is over the end of the front valve cover. It makes removing the carbs alot easier. Sorry it took so long to get back to you I am on a new work schedule 3pm to 2 am Jeff

Rear wheel noise
muffinman replied to pappyam's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Don check the wheel bearings and also dont forget to check the driveshaft and Universal Joint. Lube everything up with good grease when you put it back together. Jeff- 15 replies

Bake icon on display problem
muffinman replied to Burninator's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If the fluid level is not low in either reservior you will need to resolder the circuit board in the cluster.I had the same problem and that was the fix on my 83 Jeff -

About when does?
muffinman replied to a1bummer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I got all the parts to fix mine from my local Yamaha shop and it cost me less than $90.00 So I would say that 400 is very high To answer the question of the thread milage varies quit abit it depends on how it is ridden through out its entire life I have an 83 that the second gear went out at around 73K and I have an 84 that second gear went out at 23K so it varies ALOT I would not open the motor up unless there is a problem with second gear I fixed my 83 after driving it over 30K without second gear. Jeff -
Does the voltage come up over 13 when hot if you rev the motor up to 2k? If it does the stator is suspect maybe a oil change will help it. Jeff
-
Rich it wont help for the ride this weekend but I do have a oil pan off of a 92 that will work Jeff
