  1. Rmz I am in the process of trying to get my forks and seals contemplated on when exactly I'll consider getting started. ( I have the parts, just can't decide when) I bought new progressives and have decided that I already have pro's. That being said, you are welcome to my old ones and since I have already done this last year, BTW...don't use anything but OE Yamaha seals. I went the cheap ( Pyramid?) route last year and I'm doing it again this year, I can give you some cheap advice. Replace both seals and wipers, at least replace the top bushings, Progressives are great, replace all o-rings, use the right size phillips screwdriver (JIS #2, I think...I know it's jap sized) for the drain plug on each fork. I used Amsoil synthetic fork oil but I'm sure others are ok. Call me if I can help Ken
  2. Hi I've been looking for the valve cover gaskets. Anybody have any clues where I can find a good set cheap and if there are any tips on putting them on. Thanks for the help. Ken
  3. Hey I too talked to the guy at rennsport and was told that they would do any line for under $19.00. since there are 5 lines to replace in the brake system in a Gen 1 MkII, I'm looking to buy them too. I haven't taken the lines apart yet to measure them and find out the angles, but at $95.00 vs $237.00. I will find out what I need and order. If you want or if you find b-4 me, plz let me know. I also bought a set of brakes off e-bay and plan to exchange them with a pair of sintered pads. Life is good. All for less than $170.00. ( $30 for the calipers, $45 for the pads, $95 for the stainless lines and they come in a lot of different colors.:dancefool:Ken
  4. Just for your info. I found a guy selling all kind of Stebels at a better price. I bought a couple and got the electro mags too. Regardless, check his prices and compare, I saved about $10 or so. His name is Michael and a real nice guy. http://Kalmari.ecrater.com They do make a difference !!!

  6. I'm a little frustrated right now. I Replaced my fork seals about 4-5 months ago and both of them are leaking like sieves. I was wondering if they're any specific brands that are better than others. I spent about $10 on these and they suck. I think they are Pyramids (?) I got them off E-Bay. Any tips or comments would be helpful. Thanks
  7. Not that I've ever used anything else, but I have used POR15 on three different tanks and it worked great. 1) A little advise: I used bolts and metal BB's to loosen the rust. 2) After using the phosphoric acid, rinse well and get the tank dry as fast as you can. I used a propane torch and attached a shop-vac to the inlet. Once you etch the tank with the acid it will rust very fast if you leave any water in it. Dry it quickly. 3) The actual painting of the inside is best done with no air bubbles in the paint/epoxy. I shook the can one time and had craters in the epoxy when the paint/epoxy dried. Don't shake the can of epoxy. 4) I used a bathtub stopper for the big hole and cut a piece of flat tin and drilled hole for the screw holes and sealed with silicone. Good Luck
  8. Hi guys Just thought I'd let you know where you can get them a whole lot cheaper. I bought the electro's and the nautilus air horns, just haven't decided which ones I'll use. I'll probably use the electros on the Venture and the air horns on an old Powerwagon....Just thinkin Anyways, I found a guy that was selling all different kinds of Stebels and for about half price and He's a decent guy. Quick shipping or if you live in Denver, Houston or can meet him in Oakley KS. He'll meet you... save on shipping....which I did. Just so you know. Here's the link: www.kalmari.ecrater.com his name is Michael Cheers
  9. Sorry Guys... I didn't know about the politics thing. I was just *****in. Got a BIG tax bill yesterday.... Forgive me if I upset anybody, It wasn't my intention.
  10. Our founding fathers will be spinning in their graves if they knew how we let down the dream....all for a bunch of worthless bureaucrats and tyrants. We do need freedom, it is slowly being usurped in the name of "the children" "the economy" "the environment" I guess it's worldwide, however, it still disgusts me.
  11. Are you saying the big trucks can't have air horns? It seems to me that if they can have them...a motorcycle can have them It stinks what we let our government get away with. Good luck with that
  12. Sorry guys...I can't spell either. The right link is now posted...try again.
  13. Folks... Just found a great deal on Air horns and decided to let every one know. I bought the one for the motorcycles for $ 30.00 and got a couple extras for an old powerwagon that I'm rebuilding. I got the black ones but they also have the chrome and marine grade. Take a look at the website, it's simple and inexpensive....just thought I'd let you know. Ken Here's the address: http://Kalmari.ecrater.com
  14. Hey guys...I'll take a set. Depending on price, of course. I just bought a set on E-Bay for $61.00 + shipping of 6.75. Just put them on last weekend. Let us know!! Ken
  15. Gary It does have a little ( 2" diameter x 5-6" long ) cannister on the left side of the engine that I think would be a vapor cannister or something like that. It's right between the two cylinders, right between the "V" of the cylinders. Are there other things I can get rid of? Thanks for the thinks ken
  16. Lonestar Yep, it's a cali bike, title says XVZ13DSC . I checked all the simple things and replaced the air filter, put about 3 cans of sea foam through the tank and synched the carbs. I may need to fiddle with the fuel jet screws. I' may need to replace the diaphrams as they seem to be wearing out, btw, if anybody knows where to get a new set cheap... but as of right now they don't leak. If anybody knows a good starting point for the jets and float level at altitude or any other tips. I know this is a lot heavier bike than anything I've ever had but my car gets better gas mileage right now. I do like to go fast, but I also like to save money... 17. Hello guys I just bought an '86 VXZ13 DSC from a guy from southern Cal last fall. Now I get to repaint, refurbish and restore it. It's a great bike, 28K miles, everything works and it handles like they knew what they were doing when they put it together. Progressive springs in the front, and new Avon Venoms. I'm getting psyched about this summer. Now for my problems... Like I said, I bought it from a guy in California. I live in God's country ( Colorado ) at about 6500 feet. I want to get rid of all that crap they put on it in california for their damn government. What I want to know, if anyone has the info or knows where to get the info, is what I can get rid of and change so I can go over the Rocky Mtns with a little power. It runs extremely rich right now. Jets, floats, needles and slides....anything that will give me a little more omph and better my gas mileage. Right now, I'm probably getting 23-28 miles a gallon in the city ( haven't been on a long trip yet ) Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I have a set of carb synchronizers if anyone near Denver needs to get their carbs synch'ed. Thanks Ken
