  1. The bigger the car tire the less air you need to run. On my valkyrie ( which my nephew owns now) I had a 205/60/16 which only needed 24 to 27 lbs of air. anymore and the tire would not flex any under the weight of the bike. You,ve gat a tire that is rate 1440 lbs carring 400 lbs. This might be the reason the tire was not staying flat.
  2. Martin Motors in fitzgerald Ga. JIm Martin the owner said he was going to sell, all of his new stock out, for his cost plus tax. has a 2009 venture, 16,500 out the door Has a couple of stratoliners customized, corbin products at good prices. His number 229-423-9333 if anyone is interested. Gregg
  3. There is a 99 red and black valkyrie on the athens ga craigs list the guy will let go for $7600, Its in good condition I looked at it last week before I bought my 2004 venture. the guys number is 706-817-8797. I prefer to buy used from private individuals so I do not have to deal with the stealership. Only one I trust is Martin Motors in Fitzgerald Ga. But he did not have a used venture.. Gregg
  4. Does anyone have a roadsofa on their venture, what about the good and the bad of this seat. Gregg
  5. I like the tread on that tire, I might try one. Gregg
  6. radial car tire on back with Frount avon cobra radial. makes venture ride like wet dream. Gregg
  7. Just sold mine to my nephew. A sad day indeed, but I did get a 2004 RSV.
  8. I put 12,000 miles on a venture with a utopia and never had the bolt to move on its own. We are talking about a yamaha not a harley, my friends harley we locktight ever bolt on it. If not they vibrate out. Of course the venture does have some vibration, I did lock tight the trunk bolts on mine. Gregg
  9. My wife is 5'2" started on a lowered honda magna VF750, and is now riding a lowered Road Star 1600, which she says is the easiest bike she ever had to handle. The road star is very easy to lower.
  10. If you want good sound without spending a lot of money, take a dremel tool, reach up in the back of your stock mufflers and cut the output tube into all the way around. then shove the tube up in the muffler to the side. Sound good not too loud and best of all you can not tell you did anything to the mufflers. If you want more details e-mail me, will be glad to help. Gregg
  11. The crown of the road does account for tire on the left side. I was the director of public works in turner county ga, for 10 years, assistant director 15 years before that. The studies performed also show that it affects car tires too, the car leaning on the crown transfers slightly more weight to the right side of the car causing more wear on that side. Now that I have changed careers I have to ride a distance to work daily. The bike I ride to work,(52 miles round trip) which is ridden in the far left lane on I 75, which is crowned to the left, wears on the right side of tire. freedom of the road for all gregg
  12. I put the avon cobra radial on the frount and solved all of my problems. Gregg
  13. The best thing I did on my 2000 rsv was putting the avon cobra radial on the fount, it made the car tire on back work great, the guy that owns my 2000 has put more miles on the nexum and he loves it. I am going to put the avon 150/80R16 cobra on the frount, and I was having such good luck with the nexum, I might put one on the 2004. I really believe the cobra on the frount does alot for these bikes. Gregg
  14. I was running the nexen tire on my 2000 venture at 37 lbs with no problems, really could not tell it was a car tire, had the cobra radial on the frount. I am going to order the same for my 04 venture. I wonder if some may trying to run too much air. If you all say the bfg is better i'll try it, the 04 I just bought had the factory bridgestones on it and the bike only has 8800 miles, the tire are horriblily flat sided from sitting I guess. Gregg

    venting

I am venting here, I just bought a 2004 venture, and one of the harley guys asked me when I was going to move up. I told him I was not ready for a Goldwing yet. Then he said, No I mean up to a harley, to which I replied, that going down, not up. I get tired of that attitude that I are ridding something less than they are because I don't ride a harley. It use to be a joke, but I have began to take it personally. just venting Gregg
  16. Well we have been married for 29 years today,( June 4 ) and we had the other two bikes for 10 years so we decided to change. I had sold my 2000 venture and her 96 magna and bought her the Road star, I missed the venture so bad, she told me to buy another but the valkyrie had to go. Freedom of the road for all GREGG
  17. Just bought this 2004 venture, 8800 miles, gave $9500.00 that may have been a little high, but this bike looks like it just came off the show room floor. Plus 2 macthing helmets with intercom. On the sad side my Valkyrie I have had for 10 years must now Go. Of course it's going to my nephew. Also my wife's new ride, 99 Road star, lowered, road house dooly exhaust, beach bar the works.
  18. great job, looks very good Gregg
  19. I have running a nexum on the back for the past 7500 miles, no problems at all, but I run 37 lbs in mine, I just put a avon cobra radial on the frount and that improved the ride. Also the grip on the frount seems to match the rear, bike stops on a dime. Gregg
  20. I put the new Avon Cobra Radial on the frount of my 2000 rsv, I already have a nexum 165/80/15 radial car tire on back. The ride is great, and the handling is super. I did not think it would make that much diffierence in the ride, but it does, much smoother on rough pavement. Seems to have improved grip in curves, will keep yall posted, as the miles add up. thunder beach was a blast Gregg
  21. Is anyone going to Thunder beach in Panama City fl. the first weekend in May. May 1 - 3 . Gregg
  22. I have been using reg auto mobil one 15-45 with no problems bikes a quieter, and shift better. Never have been able to tell the differqence in auto oil and motorcycle oil. I just about have began to believe is just words on the bottle. I can not help but put my 2 cents worth in on this, diesel engines have the same 0.002 to 0.005 clearance on the crank and any other piston engine. Or aleast every cat or cummins I built did. the same as a 350 chevy. The ring gap and the piston clearance is greater in some engine depending on horse power and application. naturally aspirated or turbocharged. freedom of the road for all who is going to thunder beach in panama city beach. Gregg
  23. Not to insult anyone here, I know there are some harley owners that are hog members that are members here too. Has anyone had trouble with Hog members, I have a few friends that are Hog members, but most seem to treat anybody that rides anything other than a harley like dirt. Or is it just me. Gregg
  24. If you ride a bike, eventually you are going to drop a bike. When I see an ad that says never been rained on, never been down. I always think the next line should be never been rode. Mine has been wet, muddy, dusty, down and anything else you can think of. freedom of the road for all. Gregg:innocent:
  25. There will a multitude of beads given away, and a lot of impressive views. Freedom of the road for all. Gregg
