  1. I couldn't find anything on this so here goes. A local dealer changed a rear tire and never put the metal sleeves back in the left saddlebag....within 100 miles I got a nice big crack in the rear. They accepted responsibility in April and I just got the new bag...finally (but they did it). They didn't want to touch it again and that was fine so I mounted it today and the cover doesn't seem to want to close properly. I am leery of bending the tongues and don't see any other adjustments. I tightened the sides first and bottom last to minimize twisting the bag. Any ideas what I might try....I could live with it but it was nice when it locked on just a drop of the lid as opposed to a hardy push.. Thanks in advance
  2. I for one love success stories....being self employed I know the fun part of finding help:doh: much better than the alternative......go get em!
  3. Looks like a good buy for a pretty trailer to me!
  4. I just ordered one myself today...It looks like a nice unit and not seeing it is a nice addition. I am hoping to install it in 19.5 minutes so I can impress the wife!
  5. You've been married a while I see.
  6. I think I'll give the clear a shot. I am going to cut my old one down and try it. I'll pick this up for an affordable back up....and if I like the shorter shield I'll cut this down. I'll have to see what the wife says first.
  7. They offer clear and light Grey.....any preference form anyone that has used one?
  8. Weird times indeed. If our energies could be pooled for positive use we would be a great nation once again. I wish you the best of luck.
  9. Isn't that a little bit like saying you shouldn't take Viagra cause while it might help it's only masking the hidden problem? Not that I take Viagra:big-grin-emoticon:
  10. Now my trunk with a 30 pack and a couple of bottles of wine......might make a difference. Empty?
  11. I know all mine are? Must be a Texas thing:97:

  13. Which is the front set and which is the back. I need to order the 3 sets for my 99 R.S.V. Any numbers would be helpful I've been searching for an hour....being a computer idiot is not good in today's world.
  14. A bud of mine found this on a vtx forum...a little boring but it show drivers ride and then a shot of the tire riding...even a little scrape here and there. http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=246869&highlight=dark+side
  15. Looses seal before it seats? Not sure I'm following you.
  16. Ahhh, Leaving on a trip Thursday for a few and also next week. I ordered the car tire and the jerks at Tire easy never e-mailed confirmation or answered a phone.....Heck I need a tire so I have to run 60 miles and pay $199 for an elite II due to the time frame. I get home and sitting at my door is the Kumho tire??? Now that's a pain in the ass... With business prep I can't mount this tire (time) and have it scheduled for a morning install locally. I sure liked the look of the kumho and am sure the $199 + Tax tire is going back to the dealer (I hope). I wish Tire Easy had communicated or kept their site updated. It would have saved me 1/2 a day today and 1/2 on the return....Sometimes it just gets complicated:doh:
  17. I have ordered one...unfortunately the company hasn't provided a shipping date and we are leaving Thursday for a long weekend ride. Gotta buy the interim tire I guess. It will probably take Tire easy that long to ship it?
  18. Buddy, riding the Venture like a tourer:bang head: It handles so well in the corners it's hard to do. That's like telling me my dual sport isn't a real dirt bike In all honesty I am far from crotch rocket but I do enjoy an adrenaline rush every now and then. Condor, I tend to think that is my biggest issue with the wear. I had a Vulcan that wore right about the same.....They love those chip seal roads here in East Texas.
  19. My wear does seem to be center....I have been running front and rear 40/40 The Dunlops max pressure was 40 the Continental was a higher load rated tire. No burnouts....the wife rides with me now. Now the roads....We have a lot of chip seal roads where they put a layer of tar over asphalt and cover it with pebbles. They are everywhere around here. I ride with a buddy that gets about he same mileage but is doing much better with his elite 3's. I will try an increase in pressure and see if it helps.
  20. Okay, I can't take this anymore. I have had Metzlers, Dunlops, and Continentals. The best I have gotten was 5230 on my rears with the Con-tour. Dunlop 404 was a road replacement just over 3000. Metzlers on my Vulcan 5-6000 at best. I did have an Avon that had a nail with less than 1000 miles....I decided to replace rather than risk the wife....they are tough to train. I do downshift and am a fairly aggressive rider but 12'000 miles...are you guys trailering these? I run 40 pounds and ride 2 up most of the time. Tires are balanced and no rim problems.......I need a new tire again after looking today.....4th this year.
  21. I have changed my tires and I am familiar with the popping (oh what a sound). are the dyno beads....still off memory....what?
  22. Thats why I was going to go with them.....but the 3 responses were enough to push this teetering old fool over just enough towards the c/t. Thanks for the advice and I will remember to lube the shaft. What are the beads? Dyno beads? going off memory here..
  23. I did do the modification today and was absolutely amazed to hear absolutely no rumble or backfire...what a delight after spending a small fortune at the dealers trying (unsuccessfully) to get the problem resolved. I can't thank the poster enough for the visual aids and step by step instrctions. Fantastic info and really great to ride today!!
  24. You folks talked me into it.......Just seems too good to pass up. I will be honest...I went online and thought screw it I'm going with the Avons....read 3 reviews and two complained of cracks in the sidewall. The third positive review was thrilled with 5000 miles of wear. I am changing my Continental after 5000 miles and am really sick of new tires and the hassle of installing them....I took the plunge before my ride to Miss. I need a few beers after trying to shake of the thoughts running through my mind. I have been tempted before but always chickened out. Now I am committed:95: I hope to soon be:mo money:
