A couple of weeks ago we were seeing early color on 123 north of Russelville between Hagarville and sand gap....which by the way, I believe rates as one of the nicest rides in Ark. We rode the same area as you are talking for a few days before moving on, we stayed at the south side of Dardenelle. Try 123 and cross over to 16 and back...nice day ride

Bummer on the wives? Thanks for the info and the offer of the lodging upgrade. I guess we'll see more as time nears. I have always wanted to see Utah but may have to try next summer? Unless weather seems good as we progress:thumbsup:!

The wife and I have an opening of sorts and are throwing together a trip out to California for 3 weeks (roundtrip). We have a son attending school in Berkeley and we will tow our bunkhouse "pop up" as our hotel. Time constraints and getting the businesses set are making planning difficult. Just not enough time. We are planning on leaving East Texas Friday and head??? I wanted to hit Utah and pick up an extra wife or two. I will have to play that one by ear....but seriously, I did want to head north as the weather seems to be okay at the moment. I will play that by ear. A friend in Colorado said to avoid the State as higher elevations are getting snow. I guess what I am asking in a round about way.....any suggestions, routes, sights, eateries....anything? We are more country than city and love to ride and take in sites as well as shorter hikes and nice sites. We have California mostly planned as the son has worked on it. Any info or ideas would really be appreciated! Oh, I owe Buddy a hello from our recent Ark. trip. Hard to forget that day in Paris!!!lol

Good advice, Thanks. I am blowing a little cold on this...economy, age, cost etc. etc. My Venture is running well and I think I may re-look at a wing at a later date. I may call and tell hime I'm laying off to see what he has to say? Never know?

You may well be right. I thought I read somewhere that the 98's were fuel injected? It's been a busy couple of weeks so I may have dreamt it?

Not sure if this is the place to post this but what the hell! My brothers friend is ready to put his wing on the market and has said he will sell it to me for $8000 It is a GL1500 1998 with 10,000 miles. It has been garage kept and is immaculate. Not a lot of upgrades but it has a backrest and chrome brake covers etc. Is this a decent price in anyones opinion. I have been looking for a while, just not real hard. It is fuel injected and has new tires. I can try and post some pictures.

Let us know how that works out for ya!!! Heck, I can never get her to lay down? I have tried crossing th chains and quite frankly...the 4" spread doesn't allow for any crossover. I do like the idea of wrapping them but I would imagine you have to be careful not to shorten them too much.

I tow trailers on my venture and have the Diamond hitch set up. It is a bit of a pain but I lay on my back for a few seconds and slide the hooks up in there. It is a bit of a pain but I have got it down pretty well. Maybe I need to train the wife to do it?

I have a friend with a VTX and his tires (c.t.) set at 45 pounds. Apparently his rims are a little different in design. I sure would like to hit lower pressures. Thanks for the info.

I ended up buying the Kumho off Chris on the forums. Maybe I should start a thread for this but lets see what happens here. The last Kumho I bought seated at close to 100 #'s. I ended up with a broken belt that created a slow speed wobble that took me a while to find. I am bound and determined to mount this with less pressure. Clean the rim, warm the tire and lubricate the rim with tire lubricant. What, if anything has anyone else done to get it to mount at lower pressure? My brothers mounted at under 80#'s and he loves it, I rode his bike and it was just fine.

Thanks to all for the info. I would have replied sooner but the kids were home during Spring Break and made me drink loads of beer and eat crawfish all week. I have contacted the person that listed on these forums (try and support our own) Thanks Bryan Gunboat, last time I tried the Kumho it set at close to 100#'s. I want to try an new one, heated and mounted with a well lubed rim. I hope to get it to seat at a much lower pressure.I didn't like the broken belt. But many thanks for the offer. Discount tire....who'd have thunk it? Never even tried but that and Waller may be option #2 Thanks again folks. Always great to pop in and out when help is needed....and receive it!

Has anyone found a Kumho as of late? I am having a hard time locating a 160/80 r15 How do folks like the federal? I can't take the 400-5000 I am getting on an M/C anymore.

Why Reverse A Rear Tire When Put On The Front?

Yes, I mounted a Metzler on my front and I believe I have 4/32's more tread depth. I have done this in the past with no issues whatsoever. Like someone mentioned. It used to be whatever fit went on the bike. There was no front or rear that we recognized in my younger days. -

Ok, changed my oil this evening and filled it to just about halfway up. Cleaned up the area where the oil was, and I'm taking it to work tomorrow, so I'll get a good run in to see what happens. -

I've been having a bit of an issue with my 2005 RSTD. I let it sit for too long and the carbs got gummed up, so I took it in to have the carbs cleaned. When I got it back i noticed an oil leak. (and for all I know, it was there before the carbs were cleaned, but I didn't notice b/c the carbs were leaking fuel down into that area). I cleaned the area up with some engine cleaner and traced the leak to the area below in the picture. It's coming from the general area inside the yellow box and seems to be accumulating mostly inside the red circle. Has anyone had a similar issue or know where the oil is coming from and why it might be leaking? I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks ahead of time. P.S. The second picture is just a reference to show where the zoomed picture is exactly.

I did skip work...got a good boss (self employed) Set it up and set it up again today....this time I cleaned it real well. I'm gonna enjoy this thing! I'll post pics from today...tomorrow?

Well I did get the Bunkhouse today....it is pristine with little to no wear. I must confess....it seems to be a really well built unit. We set it up and the wife even said "I can sleep in that!" I will play with it tomorrow (screw work) and figure it all out.

I tried to pre talk him down a bit, he wouldn't budge but seemed proud of it. I jokingly told him I'd go full price but the kids wouldn't eat.... He is proud of it and isn't in a hurry. He's an older guy and seems like a class act....Time is money so....I'll likely buy it, tomorrow when I drop my son at the airport! Used 4 times....heck, it should be like new!

Always good to hear. This one came up and is a substantial savings over a newly equipped trailer with equal accessories. It will also save me shipping/or time to get it. Of course he says LX , then Queen bed but told me it was King verbally...typo?
