  1. Oddly enough, I had decided to look into lifts the day this thread came up....must be Karma? This is the lift I am leaning to but have to work on the delivery situation. I wanted to call today but was busy. I don't know if a forklift is really required as much as two strong men....or women:pushups: No room for a truck here so will have to figure out where I can get it dropped?
  2. Is this unit stable? It looks like a good unit and a decent price.
  3. Personally I got fed up with the bracket and ended up removing it totally......I have never looked back:missingtooth:
  4. My brother had posted this but is busy with job changes and other things in his life.....therefore I thought I could report the latest for him (you owe me)! After checking the voltage at the battery (thanks Goose) he did not see and increase in voltage when the bike was revved. He did bring it back to Yamaha and they ordered a new rectifier and installed it. It appears to be charging at close to 14 volts. I hope they got it as I would hate to see him stranded at the side of the road on our West Texas trip. Thanks for the help and suggestion:thumbsup:
  5. Ain't the first time in history.
  6. You gotta have faith in our economy....it's bigger and better than most give it credit for.....I also am glad to see my investments showing health.
  7. I'm pretty sure they have two or three invisible men. No one else in even near the bike.
  8. Perhaps you have a Southern bike? Sounds a little strange to me and one would normally suspect tires in my opinion....
  9. I love riding the area...I just hate getting there. My brother, son and I are due a trip mid November. It will be the first time for both of them. I want to hit the Austin hill country on the way and avoid I-10.
  10. I avoid rallies for two reasons...I don't like crowds and I spent my younger years looking at the the Village people. A whole town full of em just doesn't make for excitement in my book. To each his own but the Harley Snobbery pisses me off.
  11. I can now blame someone else for my weight problem. Hope the wife buys it? Seriously, I avoid as much altered food products as I possibly can. Just makes good sense. How many people that drink Diet sodas look good? I won't even go to sugar free ice cream.
  12. Well, I'm glad I can return it:scared:
  13. I did pick up 4 quarts of Lucas Motorcycle oil and am thinking of giving it a shot. It is an organic synthetic mix. I have few choices here in B.F.Egypt.
  14. I get about 5000 miles out of rear tires...or less depending on the brand. I still want to know how people get 10,000 plus.
  15. [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=511]Tightening the Steering Head - VentureRider.Org[/ame] This worked for my wobble that I got at around 35-40.
  16. Thanks.....I just ordered a hitch from them....I should have looked further!
  17. If you find that person I would be curious if they have any mounting hardware to go with it. I have some that have broken off the light bar and might not be able to be welded as the meatal is pathetically thin....at least welded by me...
  18. That might be it? I am really thinking it's more me than the bag. With time and compression...it will probably be fine!
  19. I have been trying to reach these folks Via e-mail the last week. Do you happen to know the missing number for the wiring adapter? I will try and call them from the road tomorrow and hope they can tell me the right parts???
  20. I'll take another peak at those. Maybe I was spolied with the last ones....they were just so smooth. The wife tried it and said "It's not really bad." so I gave her that bag to use for her stuff!
  21. My new bag came with everything...except the key lock. I had to take that off from the old bag. Just the lock and small area of attached gizmo's.
  22. As much as this displaced Yankee hates to say it.....I had the heat on last night....it went down to 55? That's cold isn't it?
  23. I was running real busy with Hurricane Ike repairs and brought my bike to the Yamaha dealer to have the valves checked and wanted them to check the backfiring I was getting. 2 weeks later I went to pick it up and drove out and made it a mile and ran out of gas. They ran back with a can and filled my tank. Rode 28 more miles and I was almost running out of gas....I had fuel running out the exhaust pipes and told them they needed to come and get it. They sent a kid that wanted to strap the bike over the lower fairings. After telling him to sit down and watch he brought the bike to the shop. 2 weeks later I pick the bike up and the backfiring was worse than ever. His response was that's what these bikes do. Got home and started looking and the mechanic left both tank bolts out.
  24. I made a post in the 2nd generation area that got me to thinking...... I have a list of dealer related nightmares when I have had to have them do repairs to my bikes over the years. Last April a group of us were heading out for a ride. Sure enough the night before I find a nail in a relatively new Avon and the wife catches wind about the dangers of patching. Sure enough, on the way out we hit a dealer and have a new tire put on. 100 miles later we pull over to eat lunch and my buddy ask when the saddle bag cracked...What? Sure enough I have a big crack down the back. S.O,.a B. I call them and they say to bring it by after the trip. I showed up with 4 other bikes that were on the trip and they discover the metal spacers were not installed at the bottom of the bag. They must not have been there (according to them) but they should have pointed it out so they will replace the $1500 dollar bag. This was April and I have watched them order the wrong color twice, The upper bag once and the wrong side twice. They were apologetic and as nice as pie but totally incompetent. Well, two days ago they get the bag in and forgot to order the spacers.....I was able to cut some tubing to do the job but was amazed at the total lack of professionalism. Now I can tell you similar stories with 4-5 other dealers but it's someone elses turn at this point:witch_brew: I stay busy but am doing more and more of my own repairs due to their incompetence. Just wish I could see better. I imagine there are tons of scary stories about dealers....along with some good ones.
  25. Truly, I am afraid to let them or any dealer touch it. You did give me and idea that I can try washers to push them out a little further?
