  1. I was wondering if anyone has lowered a first gen. I would like to get mine down 1"-1.5" all the way around. If you did it, how? and did it handle ok?
  2. thanks for all the nice comments!
  3. Right at 40k I put a taller windscreen on for this winter and plan to ride it till I cant stand the cold anymore.
  4. having the ability to tune the FI with a computer and not change jets and needles makes me want a FI bike.
  5. here are pics of my ''megaphoned'' exhaust... http://bmannon.smugmug.com/photos/388921908_stfta-O.jpg http://bmannon.smugmug.com/photos/388921905_yj2Lf-M.jpg http://bmannon.smugmug.com/photos/388921925_xs3DU-M.jpg
  6. I doubt they will be for me, I actually took my mufflers off and a ran a set of turndown tips slid up on the stubs coming out of the collector (I have a 1st gen), it sounded perfect, but I didnt like how it looked without the mufflers. So I cut the back off the mufflers (the necked down portion on one was almost rusted in two so I didnt feel too bad doing it) and gutted them best I could. They sound pretty good now but I need to do something to clean up how they look. Just looks like a big open megaphone from the rear. I will post pics later in case anyone is interested.
  7. Oh I will definatly be doing it!
  8. nuthin is ever ez is it
  9. so the converter is close enuff to the end to drill it out with a std length bit? or do i need an extension?
  10. What about a set off an '07, How do ya get the catalytic converter out? The reason I ask is someone offered me a set, but I havent taken delivery yet.
  11. AWESOME! what a first bike !
  12. I am getting 39-40 mpg. same as i got on my V-Max with the boost disconnected. I am light on the throttle though. My bike seldom sees 4k rpm.
  13. My low fuel light usually starts blinking at 140 miles and I fill it back up, usually takes me 3.5 gallons. So I am to understand I have almost another gallon left before I have to flip to reserve? This is good to know.
  14. Sent ya a PM, lets talk, I am interested in the pipes.
  15. Danob11, what kind of pipes are on that bike?
  16. Ahhh yes I have seen that thread, I was hoping that the ones with the turn down tips were different. A guy can wish, right? Mabe a long drill bit and go thru the back cap and thru the rear baffle? I seen a thread the other day where someone had cut off the back of the mufflers b/c they were rusted and then drilled thru the baffle, wonder if you could do that and then still reattatch the turn down? I am probably only going to ride this bike thru next summer and hate to buy the slip-ons for it, but that is probably the best bet in the long run
  17. after they are off is there room to get a drill in the back of the can to drill holes in the back of the baffle?
  18. thats what i thought but didnt want to go tearing them up if i was wrong. thanks!
  19. how do these come off? they appear to just slip on and be held in place by the springs but I cant get them loose. Are they screwed on? or do I just need a bigger hammer?
  20. I cut my windscreen down and went a bit too short, now I am getting blasted right in the eyes with the wind. If this stuff works as advertised it would be the perfect fix. Anyone used it? http://www.saeng.com/4000.htm
  21. sent you an e-mail about those extra sets you have....
  22. NOW THAT's an IDEA!!! YOu may of just saved me a couple Ben Franklins
  23. Thanks a lot for the responce, I just wanted to make sure before I ordered a set because if I had to fab up a bend I was just going to get some of the super cheap turn downs that JC Whitney sells.
  24. So just to clarify, the Macs have the bend in them also?
  25. OK Thanks, I was looking at the originals that are on the bike and it looks like the have a bend in them, and I wasnt sure if that was built into the muffler or if it is a seperate piece.
