  1. are these mufflers direct bolt on replacements for a first gen? http://www.macperformance.com/store/category.cfm?SID=3&Category_ID=912&Catlevel=3 wondering because it says they fit ''all models''
  2. Got ya! So it is kinda like a vacuum advance in an old school car distributor.
  3. thanks for the reply, now it makes sense. one more question, what does the boost sensor do? my V-Max had one but I figured it had something to do with the V-Boost, but since a Venture doesnt have that feature I guess I was wrong. So what is it for?
  4. I found it, appears to be a fault w/ the local switch, when i push it i have receive. Probably try cleaning it and see what happens. Thanks for all your help and advise, I appreciate it.
  5. Always liked the Royales so I drove to Columbus, OH last week and picked this one up. Also some of my other bikes from the past, hope you enjoy... http://bmannon.smugmug.com/photos/362546112_9vCwN-XL.jpg http://bmannon.smugmug.com/photos/297274851_LxYrc-XL.jpg http://bmannon.smugmug.com/photos/140636482_dw3sH-L.jpg http://bmannon.smugmug.com/photos/61235480_oEi2n-L.jpg http://bmannon.smugmug.com/photos/62956077_gryw3-L.jpg http://bmannon.smugmug.com/photos/62830924_jQewp-L.jpg http://bmannon.smugmug.com/photos/62830933_qZLw3-L.jpg
  6. OK thanks, just wanted to make sure, because a lot of 2 way radios have no RX audio without the mic hooked up. Now to track down the problem....
  7. It is a '90, so I should be hearing it thru the speakers w/o a headset or mic hooked up?
  8. I can not hear the CB when I turn it on. It powers up, channels change, keys up with the PTT but I have no audio. Does a mic or headset have to be plugged in to have receive? Also the squelch is open, so I know it isnt just being squelched out.
  9. I put my left foot in front of the CS so that it cant scoot and push the bike forward, comes off EZ.
  10. dumb newbie question, why relocate it? do they get too much heat at the stock location? (by the way, where is the stock location?)
  11. That has to be one of the more stupid laws I have heard ot
  12. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I will be getting a set of the J&M value headsets.
  13. I was wondering where I can get headsets to plug into my '90 Royales Intercom/CB/Stereo system. I am new to the whole 'tourer' thing and dont even know what to look for. Thanks, Brian
  14. nope Gassaway aint to far. Nice to know there are some west virginia ham brothern on the forum!
  15. KC8JXH in EM88 here. No radio on the bike,,, YET.
  16. I saw a handlebar mounted MP3 player in a Harley catalog. Dont think there would be anyplace on the Venture to mount it, plus it was stupid expensive at $300.
  17. I guess getting a used one would be pointless wouldnt it? Seems like they all eventually do it. Hey Captain, send me an invoice for that windscreen and I will pay you for it.
  18. YEAH! Those look nice. Probably get a set soon. MAC has em listed at $239, is that for a pair? pretty good deal if it is.
  19. Mac has them on their website for $239 plus shipping, Jardine list nothing for the Venture however. Guess they quit making them?
  20. Thanks Rocket and Condor, I will know what to look for now. I will try to look up the Jardines also. My stock mufflers look almost new, it's a shame to take them off, but it wont be a first. Another question, If I removed the collector would a muffler shop be able to do the repair for me?
  21. Are these dedicated units or a universal fit? Do you have a link that would show pictures of them? what about the sound? Thanks!
  22. Yeah I figure I will eventually have it done, but still want to change the mufflers.
  23. Hi, Got my new to me 1990 Venture 1300 this weekend. I like almost everything about it other than the exhaust. The collector rattles and the mufflers are REAL quiet. You can hear the collector rattle over top of the sound of the exhaust. I saw the threads about gutting the collector and the mufflers. Both projects look beyond my pay grade. I have been looking for some type of aftermarket slip-ons but cant find any. Does anyone know of any good sounding mufflers that will fit? On my last bike, an '86 V-Max, I put on a set of Supertrapps, I would like a sound like that. Thanks for any info, Brian
