Any decent seat pads out there that work ???

If you aren't intimidated by cutting your foam on a stock, you can improve one pretty easy. I have a slinny rear and was having problems after 150/200 mi in the saddle. I removed the seat cover, put the seat back on sat on the bike sat in the normal position, reached between the seat and my butt bones that hit first and marked the area the best I could. I dishes these areas out with a elec carving knife, slipped the cover back on, and it really did the trick for me. I did 600+ on the back roads, and on the way back, 460 miles of Interstate(which for some reason is where the pain would show up first for me). Save your cutouts, if it don't work out, as it can be easilly pieced back to the origional. Also, I removed about half the thickness in the dished out area. -
I took it all apart, but remember a guy saying you could remove the stuff under the radio and get to the junction box.

Devcon Plastic Weld sold at Walley World is great for this kind of stuff. It makes plastic. I pieced the bottom of a VR trunk with the stuff, and it never let go. One other item to get while at Wall Mart is a clothes pin. This stuff has it's own smell.

One concern I would have with a CT on a motorcycle is the modern MC tires have a softer compound on the sides, whereas the CT doesn't. I, myself don't ride real aggressively, but a time or two I've went into a turn too hot, and don't know if I would have the same outcome with a CT. But for those who are comfortable with it, go for it!!

I justt read about this in a mc rag, something to do with left brain, right brain. I feel more confident/ able to push it thru right hand turns myself, but am not fearful of lefties.

After nursing the UNI-GO home from CharlotteI with a rough souning bearing, replaced the bearings with a set of NAPA 6301-2ZJ bearings, perfect fit. The replacment would be easy, even on the road.

Buy one of those cable locks. I put the cable thru the sleeve(or both when my wife is with me), and around antwhere on the motorcycle.

My 2 cents is bye bye to Myrtle Beach. it's not a good place for riding anyway. i got free lodging(my daughter), went 2 years ago, wouldn't go back for the rally. Just isn't as good as, say Americade.

I may swim on in from the east, but don't add me to the food list. I got all my maintenance done last weekend. It never hurts to watch some pros wrenching though.

Am going to Charlotte NC from Ohio next week and am going to ride the entire length of route 20 thru WVa that much I know. What I'm looking for is some other interesting North to South routes thru Va and NC. I used rt 52 last time, and liked most of the Virginia ride, the last 100 miles in NC left a little to be desired. I can Venture 50 or so miles off of I77. Thanks in advance. BTW twisties are greatly anticipated.

I had to sell my beloved 86 Venture, because I was having difficulty holding it up at slow speeds while riding 2 up, so I decided on a sport tourer to shed a couple hundred pounds. I'm glad I went that way as we still like to put some serious miles on the motorcycle from time to time. Just my 2 cents worth. Any of the cruiser bikes would be a good choice for 2 up riding if you weren't going real far. The new 1300 yamaha cruiser is getting rave reviews with it's added fuel injection and all.

I bought 3 quality tire irons, put some pieces of milk bottle plastic along the rims, with good results. I also built a "box" so the disc isn't touching anything. I use a old bumper jack in conjunction with said box to break the bead. I'm using the tire balance beads, so no balancing needeed.

I have one that fits on a luggage rack of a trunk, pack it like a small suitcase, and it has a couple of extra pockets for small items used frequently. And a raincover.

I've heard of a couple of 1st Gens over 200k. Daveb on the other site has in the neighborhood of 120k on a second gen.

I would think that a little of the epoxy designed for a fuel tank repair would be something to use. Just brainstorming.

Eatin off the grill fri/Sat, riding to the Ohio motorcyclist memorial in Hopedale for the ceremony for fallen riders, and to see the new names added. Arlen Ness is supposed to be there this year with some of his motorcycles.

I made some after I broke the plastic one on top for the second time. The foot gards are very simple to make. They use 2 broomhandle clamps to attach to the crashbars. The alumonum I used was roadsign type, and very easy to bend and polish. I've been thinking about 4 motorcycle tires on my car. Has anyone tried this??????
