Our first weekend motorcycle camping trip...
Iowawegian replied to similost's topic in Watering Hole
we find is helpful is making a list when you do your test runs. Once you find you have everything, organize the list, then make copies of it so the every time you do a trip, you can quickly go through your checklist without worring...do I need this?....did I bring that?.... That way you don't forget something important. It makes it a lot easier especially when here in Iowa, we have all winter to forget what we need come spring. Have fun! -
tank bag for RSTD
Iowawegian replied to RandyR's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
You have to remember that neither hubby or I are technically literate. We just got our first GPS at Xmas and have used it twice. It's the cheapest model. Garmin Nuvi200. I know the Ram mounts are nice, but the hubby lives by the motto..."If I can't build it, I probably don't need it" not to mention the fact that the word "frugal" is in our vocabulary a lot!!!! My idea was to stick Velcro on the back of his helmet then I could still be the backseat driver! If there was one that was reasonable, I would just buy it. I just thought the tank bag would serve several purposes. Thanks! -
tank bag for RSTD
Iowawegian replied to RandyR's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Well here's a dumb question.....hubby and I are leaving mid July for 15 day trip. That bag looks like it would be perfect for all his "stuff". I don't know if he'll have time to build a gps mount before then. Would the map holder also work to hold our gps? -
hope to get there someday! Thanks for posting the pics!!

First I want to say thanks for all the congrat's! When I was 14, I decided I wanted to parachute. My grandpa had done it, and I have a couple cousins that were paratroopers in the army. My dad told me I had to wait till my 16th birthday( my mom was furious), then he'd take me up. Well, my birthday came, got my cousins over to our little grass airport, they gave me 15 minutes of traing jumping out of the back end of my dad's pickup, and up we went. I'll never forget the look on my dad's face when I let go of the struts! I don't think he ever expected me to do it. It was the biggest thrill of my life! I think that's why I'm so proud of him, when he called me after his solo, the said that "It was the biggest thrill of my life!" Call me a sap, but I just love it when people go after their dreams!!

I got to go to Sedona last fall. Saw the Grand Canyon and drove through Oak Creek Canyon. All I kept thinking was "What I wouldn't give to have the hubby here on our bikes". It was all breathtaking!!

Just wanted to say thanks for the toast. Went home after work, helped the hubby throw up a few boards (don't ask) and got the wine out. Sun finally started shining about 7:00, so I plopped down on the porch and proceeded to have a few glasses. What a gorgeous night! Had my own toast to you guys also!! http://www.google.com/images?q=tbn:OrEjNgH-b-N2mM::public-domain.zorger.com/daphnis-and-chloe/26-woman-in-toga-peeking-around-bush-whats-that.jpgI liked wearing the toga, a first for me, but I'll be honest, the thong was a little more than I can take!!

I have mine zip tyed to my right handlebar. Everytime I ride, I can hear it tinkling, and it brings a smile to my face thinking of the little "Gremlin" that gave it to me. I usually don't belive in things like this, but the guardian bell is different, and darned if it doesn't make me feel safer!

A couple of weeks ago I posted about how proud I am of our oldest son. Since he was a little boy he has wanted to get his pilots license and he finally started taking lessons. My grandpa was a pilot, my father is one and I just have to show him off. This was taken yesterday after his first solo flight!! Man, I'm proud to be that boy's mamma!! 5.6 hours of instructional flight and they sent him up alone!!! Life is great!
