When I checked into the hotel this week, they told me that they were giving me a complimentary upgrade to a suite. That happens every now and then due to the number of nights that I stay at hotels during the year. It is a very nice suite with two huge rooms, refrig, micro wave, jacuzzi tub, etc. While it was a nice gesture on their part, it turned out to be a real pain for me because the Internet here is hard wired, not wireless, and the only ethernet jack is in the living room area behind the TV and even with the 16 foot cable that I carry with me, it would not reach anywhere that was comfortable to work online. This has happened in the past but this time I was working on the VRAssistance list and ended up being on the computer for about 6 hours and it was miserable. I decided that it was time to remedy the problem. I ended up buying an Airport Express wireless unit that is made by Apple. You simply plug this into the wall, connect it to the ethernet outlet in the room and it very easily creates a password protected/secure WIFI network. WOW...this thing works fantastic. It would also be a good option for the home if you have hard wired ethernet at home and wish to go wireless. I already have a wireless setup at home but if I were to do it again, I would go with one of these units because it is really simple to setup and works great. So, last night I was able to lay in bed again and watch TV while connected to my own private wireless network setup in the other room. I LOVE it when a plan comes together. The price was $109 at Best Buy and worth every penny. They may be available cheaper elsewhere but I didn't have time to shop around. It is sure worth the money though.

I have re-installed the image resizing modification with some changes. It seems to be working and not adding the imagehacks links this time. Let me know if it starts causing any of the problems again.

I agree that it is strange. I have my home and my wife's car insured through State Farm. I've been with them for about 14 years. My bike is insured through Progressive because they were a fraction of the cost even with the State Farm discount for having my other insurance with them. Even more strange, when my son got his driver's license when he was 16, we gave him a 1996 Ford Taurus. It was paid for so we took our liability only on it. When I tried to add it to our State Farm policy it was CRAZY high. Ended up insuring it through Geico for a fraction of the cost for the same coverage. So...I have insurance now with three different companies. Doesn't make sense but it sure pays to shop around.

You wouldn't be NEAR so confused if I would pull my head out of the dark place. Very sorry....I neglected to notice that we were talking about a first gen. The fact that it is posted by somebody who clearly states in his post bit that he has a first gen and the fact that it is posted in the first gen tech talk area probably should have been a decent clue but I am plenty capable of ignoring such subtle hints.

You won't need the 8 pin cable at all. Simply unplug the aux cable from the back of the cassette deck and run it out. It is not part of the 8 pin cable at all.

I'm really not sure exactly what you are looking for. Baron's makes a replacement cover that some of us have for our Baron's tachs. If you want to fabricate your own mount though, I would think that you could just modify the one that you already have. http://www.baronscustom.com/catalog/category/24/index.html?PHPSESSID=0397109da6e403d6a3e68ba280f7b026

I agree folks...geezzzz...can't we even discuss the weather without it turning political. Some believe the horror stories, some don't.....that's not what the thread is about.

Heck Charlene, you've ALWAYS been in our prayers just for having to keep up with Lewis. It's just that you are even more in them now. Take care of yourself and heal properly.

That has to be at the top of my "dream trip" list. Someday maybe.

Please tell him that we are thinking of him. Sounds like he was very lucky but I do know how hard it is in these economic times to have to replace something out of pocket. Still...it could have been so much worse.

Same here...it was only a few years ago after moving to Ohio that I even tried it. Tried it for about 5 minutes and felt that was plenty.

Are you kidding...I've only tried ice skating one time. We didn't have a lot of ice where I grew up in Texas.

No WAY. I will NOT knight you until I have sampled the product.

There are a lot of good guitars on the market and you don't have to spend thousands of dollars to get one. I love my Seagull. I think they are about as good as you can buy for the money spent. Mine does have the cedar top, wild cherry back and sides and the maple neck. It is a solid top but I think the back and sides are laminated. Great low action for an acoustic.

LOL...feisty? ME? I'm just trying to keep this thing in the No Spin Zone. For the record, I don't even LIKE hockey. I've been to ONE game and I figured it very quickly. If you swat that puck enough times, it's eventually gonna go into the net. Total chaos.

And that is exactly what I said. Hockey was NOT invented by Canadians. It was invented by British soldiers who just happened to be in Canada at the time or possibly by the Scots CENTURIES before some of them immigrated to Canada. Thank you for proving my point.

It looks like Al edited his post for some reason. Not sure if he intended to delete the link to the video or not.

The funniest part of that entire list of falsehoods is that even HOCKEY wasn't invented by a Canadian.

Removing rear wheel with bike on CarbonOne lift adapter
Freebird replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
It's not hard to do and I'm sure you will do just fine. One thing you may want to consider in the future is the Carbon One lift adapter. It is well worth the money. -
Send me your address by email or private message. There is no hurry for you to get it back, I certainly have no plans to use it OR to sell my bike anytime soon...if ever. There was no shim on mine.
-
I actually have a stock final drive sitting on my shelf. I'm keeping it just in case I ever sell the bike and the new owner prefers the stock rear. I don't want to get rid of it but would be glad to ship it to you if you want to use it for measurements and etc. You would just have to ship it back when you are done with it. Of course if somebody wants a VMAX rear, this would be the perfect time of the year for them to just send you their stock unit and take advantage of your great offer.

I'm not convinced that Geo Thermal is always the best option. Last year, I got a quote to have it installed. It came to about $13,000.00. I have to think that the dealer was pretty honest because he basically talked me out of doing it. I already have a high efficiency furnace. It's a heat pump system with propane backup and in the high 90s for efficiency. He told me that based upon the efficiency of my existing furnace, the payback for the Geo Thermal system would be about 13 years. He said that the true life expectancy of the Geo Thermal system is about 15 years. So...it would be 13 years before I reached the break even point and then possibly only 2 years of the continued small savings before I had to spend big bucks again.

I think the "Imagehacks" is part of the modification that resizes the linked images that some folks add to their posts. It prevents them from making the width so wide that you have to scroll across to read messages. I've removed it for now to see if that is indeed it. If so, I think it is OK and not causing any harm. I may put it back if I don't find anything negative about it.
-
No, I do not have that modification installed here. I'll try to figure it out though.
