Well, I just changed it so that only supporting members can post to the classifieds. We'll try that for a while. I may add a "pay" section for outsiders who wish to post there but I don't expect it would get much use. Most of those who try to abuse the system are the same ones who wouldn't pay a dime to start with. We do have some ads there now that were posted by trial members and/or expired members. I will not remove those but once they expire, that will be the end of them unless I change something in the future.

NO NO NO......NEVER publicly admit that the Squid Boy might be right. There is NOTHING right about that YOYO and in the rare case that he MAY make sense, you can almost be assured that Lonna was behind it.

To be honest, I wouldn't really care what kind of gas mileage it gets. Within reason of course. I wouldn't be happy with 10 MPG but I really don't base any motorcycle purchasing decisions on gas mileage. I ride for fun and enjoyment and would be willing to take a gas mileage hit if the bike makes me happy. The only reason I pay attention to the gas mileage on my RSV is that it is a partial monitor of any possible issues with the engine. Otherwise, it is what it is. Now I realize that some folks use their bikes for daily transportation and that some do it because it can be a more economical means of getting somewhere. For me, that's just not the case.
-
I tell you folks...if they EVER finish the touring model and make it a true full blown touring bike with full fairing, stereo, cruise, etc. then I would have to look REAL closely.
-
There is just not a good way to add that option to private messages. I actually tried it once but it was extremely server intensive and just didn't work out. If you want to send somebody an image, you just have to request their email address through a PM.
-
I'm with the forget him group. If I try to contact somebody to reward them with my business and they refuse to respond to me then that's all the warning that I need. If they are unresponsive when I'm trying to BUY from them, I can only imagine how unresponsive they will be later on if I have an issue or something. I would try Paul Sr.

I am always open to that sort of thing. Just send me a PM and tell me what you have in mind. It's usually not difficult to figure out. We have a few long time members here who do run small business on the side and list in the classifieds. I have no problem with that. They are established members, they are always here posting and assisting other members with problems and they are active in many ways. The ones I have a problem with are those that sign up as trial members, maybe even eventually join but are not active, never post, but just add their commercial products to the classifieds. Over the years there have been shoes, patches, electronics, all kinds of things. The classifieds are for personal use only with a few exceptions for established members. It may not seem fair but I do make that call and make it the best way that I can. I could easily make it for supporting members only and that would filter some of it but would not keep somebody from joining for the sole purpose of selling stuff. $12.00 a year would be VERY cheap advertisement for somebody. The problem is, I really don't mind somebody joining as a trial member in order to list a nice bike, trailer, etc. that they may need to sell. It may well be exactly what one of our members has been looking for. It's a tough call. I think they get used a good bit. I know of a number of folks who have sold their bikes there. As for making people wait for a set amount of time, it goes back to my previous response. They may have something to list that is exactly what one of our members has been looking for. I really don't mind a trial member that is trying to sell his/her person bike or something just don't want vendors and dealers taking advantage of the situation.

I remember NOTHING....that's my story and I'm sticking to it. of course....the reason I remember nothing may be the late 60's and early 70's.

Here is an article on reflective motorcycle vests that also have military insignias for those of you who are active or retired military. They typically buy them for testing and then sell them at discounted prices and have some available for sale now. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r4/motorcycle-reflective-vest/tinwolf-reflective-vest/ Better hurry. If you like them and are interested, they only have maybe one of each military branch left.

FUEL MILEAGE on recent trip!
Freebird replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I agree that the filters need to be kept clean and the carbs synced but I think the biggest thing in what you just said was the speeds you were riding. Riding 55-58 MPH yields MUCH better mileage on these bikes than running in the 70 MPH range. It makes a huge difference. -
Folks, I apologize but decided to delete the post about the patches. I do not want to start a precedence here that allows people to join up as trial members simply to peddle their goods here.
-
Folks, I have been somewhat struggling with a decision lately in regard to our classified section. We had a person join as a trial member and then posted an ad in our classifieds for some patches. I may end up making the classifieds for supporting members only and even then, I don't want to have people joining at $12.00 per year only for the purpose of hawking their goods on our site. The fact is, if I allowed people to start using the site and our classifieds as a store at $12.00 per year, this would end up being nothing but a spam filled site and I just won't allow that to happen. I just deleted the ad for patches in our classifieds and will be watching closely that it doesn't continue to happen. I block memberships here almost every day from spammers in China, India and other places that I know want nothing more than to spam our forum. It is a non-ending battle that requires me to be on constant lookout. Very rarely one will get through and we will see some spam posts but they are deleted quickly and those responsible are permanently banned from the site. I was also made aware today of a site in Australia that has VentureRider patches listed for sale. I don't know who the actual person is behind the site but I have not authorized that our logo be used for any retail purpose outside of our own products listed here on the site in the VentureRider Merchandise forum area. I do vaguely remember a request from a member some time ago asking if he could use our logo and put the outline of Australia in the background. I had no problem with that for one's personal use but NOT to be sold. There have been a few times over the years when I have received requests from members to reproduce our logo on their trailer or other items and I've never had a problem with that but again, that is for your own personal use ONLY. NOT to be reproduced and sold retail. If you find our logo being sold on products outside of this site, please let me know and PLEASE do not purchase those items.

Sorry about that Steve but it just didn't work out. I contacted the developer and he wanted all the access to my server to try and correct the problem. I'm a little leery of giving a stranger total access to the files on my server so I finally ended up just removing the app from the site. I installed a new version of Tapatalk here yesterday. Is it working any better for the Blackberry?
-
The usual cause of such a problem is that the pictures are WAY too large. They need to be no larger than 640 x 480 and no more than 200,000 bytes.

Yep...I don't know WHERE this one is headed but I split mine also. Split, put butter in the middle, close it back up. Why? It keeps me from getting butter all over my fingers when I eat.

I don't have an IPhone so can't help you. I just installed it here at the request of some of our members. It is supposed to support the Blackberry too and I do have a Blackberry but I haven't tried it. I have read that it's pretty buggy for the Blackberry. There was an update recently for Tapatalk and I updated it on the forum yesterday. From what I understand, it is supposed to make it easier to view and participate on the forum with the smaller screen on the phone.

What the %*&#? There's a switch down there!
Freebird replied to Mel's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Did you buy your scoot used Monty? As far as I know, it wasn't an option. The wiring is there under the seat but the outlet is not there on a new bike. I added mine and yours was likely added by the previous owner.- 32 replies

Dunlop E3 tire fitment on second gen
Freebird replied to BlueVenture87's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
That's OK....it's not a big deal. For future reference though, at this site we call the '83 - '93 models "First Gen" and the '99 - Present the "Second Gen". Not a problem that you posted it in the wrong place it's just that you will get better responses if you post in the correct area. Either way, you'll get answers because many of us have owned both generations and know will have an answer or make something up. -
