    OMG!

Only done it on a right hander a couple of times but back in may I was running hwy 32 outside of Gatlinburg and was hittin the left one in almost every turn. Got to be a lot of fun to see how far over I could lean it ! The Avons will really stick and I don't think I was ever close to breakin em loose
  2. Will get some pics up as soon as my wife can teach me how!
  3. I will definately be going back but I don't know how soon I can swing it. Would love to go to that rally though!
  4. Hey Larry, some of us from Decatur are staying in Tunica again if you want to go. Surely we can find a room somewhere for ya. I think all of our comped rooms are spoken for already but some of the others might be able to hook you up.
  5. We just came through there on thursday morning, they still have those little plastic sticks dividing the lanes. Two way traffic and raining like crazy, it was a very scary and dangerous ride. When we got to the end of that construction zone we went to the nearest hotel and waited out the rain.
  6. Just made it home from our trip to Yellowstone, weather was great except for thursdays rain in Iowa. We spent a couple of days in Durango Colorado then went on up through Utah into Jackson Hole Wy. The park was beautiful and we saw lots of wildlife, finally got to ride Chief Joseph and Beartooth Pass. The Bighorn Mountains and the Badlands of South Dakota. Met another Venturerider from California at a Hotel in Grand Junction Co. We had to stop in Omaha Nebraska and have another new rear tire installed. The folks a Dillon Brothers Powersports were great and got us in and out of the shop in about 90 minutes, they even did a quick wash on the bike at no charge while it was there. We rode 5190 miles in 16 days and had the time of our lives! Most of the time in Yellowstone was about 72 degrees during the day. We also got to see Mt. Rushmore and the Crazy Horse monuments. Now we will start planning our next trip out west, there is so much more that I would have loved to have seen, especially in Utah and Montana.
  7. The only thing in stock is the 404 so it looks like I am buying another one! Oh well, it beats being broken down 500+ miles from home or worse! This week I will have a 404 with less than 1000 miles on it. I will go back to my Avon!
  8. Had to stop in Missouri Valley Iowa because of the rain. I have an appointment in Omaha Nebraska in the morning to have a new rear tire installed, this one is at the point where I am really scared to try to continue with it. Even though I have already ordered a new set of Avons and they should be there on monday or tuesday I had rather spend a couple hundred bucks than to push my luck on a worn out tire.
  9. I just saw a place the other day that has some of the old abandoded fire and ranger towers that have been renovated and are used for rental units. Still in the remote locations that you have to hike into. Talk about secluded! I don't remember if it was Colorado or Yellowstone but somewhere up through there.
  10. I would like to hear your opinions on a tire issue. On sept 9th as we were leaving to head out west I noticed my rear tire looked low so I checked and sure enough it was down to about 25 lbs. Tire shop found a nail in it and would not repair it. I have been running Avons for a while now and the rear was about three months old. The only thing they had in stock was a Dunlop 404 which I am not a fan of but we were literally on our way out of town when I stopped at the shop. So anyway, I had the Dunlop installed and headed out. Now I am in South Dakota and 3800 miles into this trip and the new tire is about shot. I think it will last the rest of the trip which should total about 5200 miles and I will keep a very close watch on it the rest of the way. This whole trip has been 2 up, pulling a loaded Bushtec trailer and through the mtns of Colorado, Yellowstone and Bighorn mountains of Wyoming and parts of Montana. Do you think that the tire should have lasted longer than this or do you think that it did what it should have considering the conditions?
  11. I have ridden 2400 miles so far in the last week and the reworked seat is great! I didn't think ihat I had any real issues with the seat before but apparently I just didn't know what the thing was supposed to feel like. I have had zero butt or back pain since we left home! One thing I found out this morning though is that if the bike is parked outside overnight in 28 degree temps, it takes about ten minutes for the seat to warm up and get soft again. I am 100% satisfied with this mod and would recommend it to anyone with the pillowtop seats.
  12. Thanks Eck, I will try to leave her somewhere easy to find for you!!! JK!!! Hey Durango was a blast! We rode the train up to Silverton and really enjoyed it, lots of great scenery, weather has been great. Rode the million dollar hwy this morning and I would definately like to do that road again! We saw a large sheep about halfway between Durango and Silverton this morning and was able to get a couple of good pics! Stopped for the night in Grand Junction Colorado, Double Dee is not feeling well and needed a break. Plan to be on the road in the morning and hopefully in Jackson Hole by late afternoon. Dave, that is a really good idea! Do you have any idea how many Sonics there are between here and home? A bunch is all I can say!
  13. Thanks Eck, It's good to know that someone is headed this way in case of trouble! I have to say that the bike is doing very well except for being way down on power since we started gaining altitude. The bike is loaded pretty heavy and the trailer is really loaded to the max. We are in Durango until tuesday morning, will be doing the train ride over to Silverton in the morning.
  14. In Santa Rosa New Mexico for the night, Double Dee had to stop and watch Alabama play football on ESPN so we called it a day a little early. Still got in 425 miles and temps were much nicer today.
  15. Would you believe Sonic's corp office is here in OC? We saw a huge bldg here with their logo on it! Now she wants to go get her picture made in front of the place! Seems to be a damn Sonic on every corner in this place.
  16. Made it to Oklahoma City today, left Tunica Miss. at 5 this am and rode about 500 miles. Will try to make it to Sante Fe, New Mexico Tomorrow. Too dang hot to ride much more than we did today. Hope to be in Jackson Hole on Tuesday and then spend a few days in Yellowstone before heading for the Black Hills. Have had good luck so far, had to replace the new Venom tire that had less than 2500 miles on it but I noticed it was low about 10 minutes before we were to leave home so I guess that was still good luck, better than being on the road and having it go down. Now I have a new Dunlop 404 on the rear, at least until I get back home.
  17. We will be seeing the Black Hills as well, plan is to spend about 4 days in and around Yellowstone then head east for a few days. By then I have a feeling the missus will be ready to see the grandson back at home! Planning on doing 16 days total.
  18. Ok, we are down to 16 days till we leave for Yellowstone. Got the oil changed, final drive oil changed, clutch upgrade done, new clearview shield just got here today, Butler seat mod is done, new Avon on rear, the wiring harness for the Bushtec just came in and should be installed this weekend, early next week a buddy of mine will help change the brake and clutch fluid. Am I missing anything that should have been done?
  19. Mraf, I had a 67 Lemans that would do the wiper trick also but they wouldn't go down until I slowed down some. I used to think that the wind was just blowing them into the vertical position but you couldn't pull them up by hand. That was without a doubt the fastest car I ever owned, broke the speedometer cable the first day I had the car probably somewhere around 140-150 mph! I was painting an old dirt track car a few years ago without a mask of course, so about three coats in I noticed that the paint was really clogging up my nose. So being the genious that I am, I got to thinking you know I bet if I am really fast I bet I can get some of this lacquer thinner on a rag and clean my nose! Let me tell you buddy I wasn't nearly as fast with the rag as I was getting to the water hose and trying to snort water to put out the burn! Felt like my whole dang head was on fire for a minute there! Of course my son was about 9 years old at the time and he still reminds me of it from time to time.
  20. I haven't used it in the bike but when I was still showing my Plymouth Duster I used several different ones. Sure was funny when I first started using it, used to watch folks try to figure out where the smell was coming from as I drove throught the show area! The kids always liked the banana, grape and bubblegum scents the best.
  21. Wow! Thank goodness I finally got off my butt and sent you my seat last week. It would have been bad if I sent it out this week and you weren't there for three weeks! We leave for Yellowstone on the 10th of Sept. and I really don't think I would like to ride that far without a seat! Looking forward to getting mine back this week and givin it a try.
  22. Fremont street at night for sure, if you like motorsports at all there are several ride along deals at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Do not under any circumstances let anyone talk you into riding any of the torture rides on top of the Stratosphere! The swings are especially terrifying and have been known to make grown men scream like a little girl! But I definately would suggest that you do go to the top of the tower at night for the view of the city!
  23. What part of sept are you gonna be there? My wife and I are leaving Alabama on the 10th and probably will be in the Yellowstone area around the14th, will probably spend about 3 or 4 days in the area before heading up to Basin Mont. to visit some friends and then over to the Black Hills and back south.
  24. Larry, I said the same thing when I drilled my original pipes. I got lucky and found a new set of Bubs on ebay. I heard someone say on this site that the drilled one sounded like a mouse farting in a coffee can! Closest description I can think of!
  25. We will really try to make it this year but that is the weekend after we get back from our trip to Yellowstone so I will have to see if I can get someone to cover for me at work. Would like to see if we can get a group together to stay overnight in Tunica afterwards like we did last year. So how about it Davecb, Jude and Boomer, Scary Larry and the rest of the gang? Wanna do this again?
