    I'm glad to see this post because i just had the same problem when i pulled my rear tire off but i just put washers between the caliper and its mount and it worked out ok. Now that i've seen this i'll fix it the rite way.

    Found a billet alluminum one on ebay for $25, i think i got a pretty good deal.

    Where is there a good place to get a super brace for a first gen? Does anybody here make them, if so how much.

    I will try that, taking off the front tire first because i want to put a new front tire on also. The main resason i'm pulling the rear tire off is to pull the rear end off. Since the rear tire is off i want to change it. Thanks for the tip.

    so you do need a 2x4 under the center stand on a first gen to remove the rear tire? I have to pull mine this weekend.

    My 08 RSV sounds just like that with HD's on it. Really a nice sound, quiets down when your just rolling along.

    Does anybody know what other year rear end will work in a 87 first gen? I have not taken the bike apart yet but from what i have read here it sounds like a rear end nut issuse.

    Rode my 1st gen to work today, i'ts first long ride and noticed a load whine every time i got off the gas. Fast or slow clutch in or out. Sounds like i'ts coming from the left side. The bike runs and shifts very good except for this whine. Goes away while on the gas. Anybody had this issuse?

    Thanks everybody for the positive comments, i'ts a real nice bike but it does have a few issuses, nothing too bad though.

    After seeing all the first gens at the International Rally i wanted to see what all the fun was about. Now i have a bike to match Brown Angels water bottle i won at the rally. Pics to come after a good clean up tommorow.

    Right next to my 08 RSV now sit's a 1987 blue Venture 1st Gen. It's in real good shape for it age. Rode it home with no issues just a few rattles. Pics will come after i wash it up.

    His home # is 330-875-3922 His cell is 330-605-3949 Sorry to hear about the paint, he did mine two years ago and it still looks good. I had to have my front fender replaced so i need it painted to match the rest of the bike.

    Just got my RSV back from the shop where they did some front end work,i now have a Avon cobra in the front and a Avon Venom on the rear. The dealer said the bike should run ok with that combo, it drove home ok. Has anybody ran a radail in the front and a bais in the rear? They will put on a Venom if i want one.

    Just got my RSV back from having front end work done on it. I had Avon Venoms on the front and back, when they put a new tire on the front they put on a Avon Cobra. They said it should be ok. The ride home felt good. They said they would put on a Venom if i want. Has anybody done this combo?

    Anybody interested in a early 80's Graig am fm 8-track receiver in like new shape? It came out of my inlaws moble home. It was only used a few times.
