We're not trying to dilute the National, and we've tried to zero in on dates that wouldn't conflict with it and a few other functions. If it does end up being Cody, mid-June might still be a little close to the early Aug dates of the National, but good for Medford. Besides we are really looking at giving folks out west, especially those who would not be going to Arkansas no matter what, another closer summer destination. It would be great if a few mid westerners and Texans showed. Buddy???.......

The dates are really dependant on the location Brad. At first we were going to put up a poll on dates, but decide we were putting the cart before the horse. In about 3 weeks or less we'll have a better idea and put up another poll with date choices. Right now, without getting real exact, the choices look like maybe mid June, late July, late Aug, or early Sept.

For some of you that don't frequent the VR Rally board that often we're taking a poll on the location for Venture West V. Now's your chance to voice your opinion and vote... and it ain't even political... CLICK HERE to GO to the POLL

Relocating Trunk on 86
Condor replied to Burninator's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
For a MkI that's a great way to do it, but for a MkII there are more attach points and would be a plumbers nightmare. It's much better to make brackets that move the trunk back on the rack than to relocate the entire rack. Muffinman made up a set of brackets for his trunk, but they raise the trunk as well as move it rearward. For the MkI they may be the 'Z' brackets that everyone is refering to??- 13 replies

I think?? I'll have one set left after Lonestarmedic and Thirdwheel take a set. OK, All the extra MAC sets have been spoken for. I was just informed that Timthetoolman ended up selling his bike, so if anyone else would like to jump on the bandwagon I have an extra set. PM me if you'd like to step up to the plate....

Relocating Trunk on 86
Condor replied to Burninator's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The key word here is UP. For me UP screws up the lines. I want to go back without creating a big gap between the trunk and the saddle bags.- 13 replies

Relocating Trunk on 86
Condor replied to Burninator's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'm still looking at moving the trunk of the '91 back a few inches, but haven't come up with a neat way to do it yet. The Corbin passenger seat actually goes underneath the backrest almost to the trunk, and the space between the rider backrest and the passenger BR is only about 6 inches. I bought the Corbin off Ebay a couple years ago for the '93 project, but the '91 came along, and I think it was built for a long legged rider...which is good for me. All I know is that man it's comfortable. I just can't get anything in the passenger seat....- 13 replies

Wouldn't it be interesting if they came out with a 2010 V4 that had 1200LT sport tourer styling.

Using the Volt Meter
Condor replied to 91nwl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yep, me too. Just one more thing. If a battery reads 10vdc it's basically deader than a doornail. -
Dave, are you saying the seat is a Corbin, or the Corbin was taken off for a stock?? I'm confoosed as the pics have an OEM seat.. If you do have the Corbin I'd be interested... 87 VENTURE

Well, you tell me then. I have no choice but to burn ethanol/gas mix except when I take a long out of state ride. So far I'm getting 38-42mpg locally and 38mpg on non-ethanol fuel on the road. I also get up to 50mpg when running local mountain twisties in 2nd and 3rd gears. Like I said I can't tell the difference, but if you have the answer I'm all ears....

I think the weight of the rider has a lot to do with the lean angle as well. I know on a personal level I seem to need a deeper 'lean' to cut the same arc that a lighter rider takes..

How to install new battery cables?
Condor replied to bobcat's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
That seems like an awful lot of work. When I watched BuddyRich do HDHTR's 91 he just snaked the cables up thru the fairing using the old cables to pull the new ones thru.??? -

Yep, they forgot the tape deck too....huh??? I know everyone just loves their RSV's and TD's, but let's face it, you buy a 2009 RSV, with it's 10 year old technology, and your getting a 10 year old bike. Would you pay that kind of money for a 10 year old bike??? Another thing that sorta ticks me off is they did all this reasearch on a new V4 motor, and then stick it in a bike with low unit sales potential. At least the older Yamaha leaders had some foresight and stuck the V4 into something that would sell, and then built a muscle bike around it. I think the new leadership has it bass ackwards... And their marketing department has fallen asleep and the wheel.

The way Yamaha does things I wouldn't hold my breath. Second largest MC manufacturer in the world and they can't get off the dime... I heard that when you're #2 you have to try harder. I can see they ain't gonna to be second much longer.

Nuttin' if you like to freeze your a$$ off. Which in my case might be a good thing....

:sign20:Yeah, I know, you're a tough dude. , and I AM a wimp . I like to have fun and enjoy the ride. If it becomes a survival issue, I'll pass. If youse likes to ride in the cold, move to Alaska and get a snow mobile.....

Don't need no friggin' gloves. If it gets cold.... I don't ride.. 'Condor's Rules'... Temps between 50° to 85° and Dry....

Do they make the set up in a 4 bolt pattern, and small enough to take the smaller wheels of a 12" tire?? Any pics of an installation.

My thinking is what's the HP rating at the rear wheel of the Venture vs. the new 1700 Kawi. That might be a better comparison. I'm not absolutely sure but I think there's less loss of crank HP with a belt drive???
-
With the stopping issues that have been brought up, I wonder if anybody builds electric brakes for the smaller MC trailers. Might be a good idea??
