  1. Called them about 3 days ago. Saymo..saymo. I'm just about ready to offer a refund to anyone who's like one. I'm getting as frustrated as the rest of you, believe me. OK here's the latest word. Just got off the phone with MAC. They'll have the mufflers done in 2 weeks... I know..I know. They said they will start cutting and bending them tomorrow. I hope so.
  2. Has anyone here replaced a tire that Ride-On had been used in?? Was it still as water soluable as when it was put in? Any mess when it was taken off the rim???
  3. Just a reminder that any of you that were thinking about riding to Cody Wy next year, your chance to put in your 2¢, and pick a date that'll work for you, is ending next week on the 21st. We need your input. Cody'09 is going to be a low key affair with some great rides, a few meet'n'eats, with a last night diner gathering wrapped around some great riding in some awesome country. Some of the planning wheels are already in motion. We've started looking into T-Shirts, and lining up some inexpensive... as best we can...lodging. The lodging search can kick into gear in earnest once you decide on the date. So we need your vote. CODY'09 POLL
  4. I run pretty close to 'theoretical' load capicity on my '83, and I'm probably always over the limit. The rear tire is the original Elite II that came with the bike when I bought it. I've never had a lick of a problem in 7-8,000 miles with the bulk of those miles being put on loaded down with travel gear. I think if you're really concerned about weight on the rear tire you might think about pulling a trailer where the tongue weight would only add around 50-70#.
  5. Put a multi-meter on the posts and it should give you 12.6 - 12.9vdc after sitting over night. If it shows something around 10vdc you have a bad cell. However I don't think this is the case as your onboard gauge kicks on and off like a loose wire. I run one of the newer smart chargers, and it'll diagnos a batteries condition and give you a read out if there's any reason the battery won't take a charge... I've seen them for around $50-$60 bucks at Sam's Club. They even have a starting circut. I bought mine at West Marine at dealer cost which was more than Sam's, but it's private labled and if anything goes wrong with the unit it's replaced acrossed the counter...no questions asked.
  6. You right about the time that fuel prices stopped escalating, but I was listening to a speaker about the oil being pumped in Alaska and some of it is actually being sold on the world market. The amount is mandated by the government, but my question is why are we selling any, and what good is drilling for more if we can't consume everything we're producing now. Maybe?? it's that we don't have enough refineries to process what crude we're making, and any more production would be sold elsewhere, and wouldn't really benefit the american people, but the government??? Just rambling.... Glad to see the prices going down.
  7. Speaking of chrome polish. How did the Meguir's work out for everyone that got a jar at Kitchner??? I've used it, and like it...
  8. Raiki. Do you mean the reflector, or the inside vanity mirror? Both can be found on Ebay from time to time. I have also seen locks listed on Ebay.
  9. That's BS. Your bike is covered by a blanket warranty. Yamaha sold it, they need to fix it. There are many parts on the bike that are jobbed out to sub-suppliers. It's not your responsibility to deal with each and every one for warranty resolve...
  10. You should have popped this question before bidding on the backrest. The 83-85's have a different mounting bracket than the later 86-93's. And the brackets are obsolete. I'm not even sure if the earlier brackets can be modified??? Sorry....
  11. OK, then what type of scoot are you talking about that's been mod'd so much?? Any pics. You may have posted the info in the past, but it would save a lot of time trying to search back thru your previous posts to find any info, if indeed its there. PS, don't blame your dad a bit....
  12. Yawn... Wake me when it get's below $2 bucks...
  13. That's one of the reasons I shy away from 2ndGens. My knees are in my chest when I sit on one. The Kawi looks like it could be even worse.
  14. Don't take offense, Just checking. You didn't mention where the arrow was when you looked at it. The tire pattern differs from one manufacture to another. My Avon Venoms have the grove channeling water toward to middle of the center groove as the top of the V hits first. With my Elete II's it's the reverse with the bottom point of the V hitting first chaneling water away from the center of the tire, but there is no center groove. So not all is as it seems in the world of tread design.
  15. Aren't the guardians Chinese???
  16. With the tire correctly mounted the arrow should be pointing in the direction of rotation. Towards the front when it's at the top, and towards back when at the bottom. Sometimes it's confoosing. The viabration and wobble may be due to the tire not being seated to the rim properly, or the axle nut not being torqued properly. My 2¢
  17. Get the right sized hex socket on a breaker bar. Tap on the plug a few times with a ball peen. Apply force in spurts.... not constant. It's worth a try... It's pretty tough to strip out a hex if using the correct sized socket. It's when the socket hex is a little undersized that the damage occurs... But you already knew all that....
  18. Yep, my old Ariel Square was on the right side, 1 up, 3 down... They were great huh???
  19. Yeah Mike. They are the 158 dash lamps. Very common at your local auto supply. As long as you're in there replace them all. 'Bout 7 or 8??.....
  20. This may be dumb, but in the past ... like a couple of weeks ago...when the computer gets confoosed, and locks up, I find that sometimes unplugging it from the wall, and replugging, will straighten things out???
  21. All close calls are good ones...compared to the alternative. But I gotta say something here. 60mph on wet pavement on a street with open access from drive ways or streets??? Plus thinking everyone's going to stop before pulling out in front of you...?? You've got bigger cajones than I have....
  22. Here in the US we have Rivco adapters for 1stGens, and I see where they have theirs on sale. Not too bad a price. I ordered one for my parts bin just because. The shipping is $12.50 in the US via UPS. So the total come to right around $72 bucks. Just about the same as the Canadian model for those north of the boarder. I also answered my original question about filter size when I read the details. Duh!! Fram 3950. I also see where the Canadian model lists a different Fram filter for theirs and I wonder if there is a difference in the size?? 23. I just went out and checked my 'stash' Mike. Thought I had a set, but couldn't find any. If I'd had, you'da had 'm...
  24. Which peg are you talking about Tim?? If it's the toe shifter you need to start checking friendlier dealers. If it's the foot rest...good luck. I've never beeen able to get one of the rubber pads off, let alone get one on. I'd just keep checking Ebay for a set of pegs that don't look trashed. That's what I've done several times. I've even seen the toe shifters NOS.
