  1. I, too, would like to join you all in a hearty... Merry Christmas Man, that felt good!!!!! Take that, you PC weenies (no reference to our members, of course)!!!
  2. Congrats on your choice. I, too, just purchased the blue and black in late July. Greatest bike I've ever had. I have checked out the other sites as well--none of them come close to VentureRider.org. I rec'd a free year membership to the Star club--they have a website, too, but as i said, there is no comparison. I'm originally from Illinois, just north of Springfield (farming hick). We settled down here in San Antonio--great place to ride almost year-round. Jim T
  3. I'm 61 yrs old; 5'7" tall and about 175 lbs. I recently had a situation on our 07 RSV; riding two-up with the wife. I was in stop and go traffic; road slanted a bit; moment of inattention (I suppose) and the bike started leaning severely to the right. I was able to keep it from falling, but at the price of an injured wrist--not yet sure of the extent of the injury--awaiting the MRI. At any rate, I am concerned about the stability of the bike and do not want to drop it. I read of the Starbar Handlebar by Baron. Anyone have experience with this product? The ad reads like it may be the answer, but I follow the old adage, "If it sounds too good to be true, it is" Would a riser for the stock handlebars do the same thing? Appreciate any help. Jim T
  4. We know what you are going thru on this (and every Holiday). Thank you for keeping us safe. God Bless and come home safely. Our thoughts and prayers, and GRATITUDE, are with you all each and every day. Jim & Belinda
  5. Belinda and I would like to join in the good wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving to all of our friends at our website. Let's all take a few minutes to count our blessings--particular that of living in the greatest Nation of all times. Don't forget to say a little thanks to the Military that allow us to celebrate our lives in the peace and safey of our homes. Jim
  6. "tiredduck" because I used to call people a tiredduck when they said/did something outlandish (thought it better than calling them a "sorry SOB" or something like that). My signature; "Today's problems are often Yesterday's solutions"...because it is so true. so many times people just afix a "bandaid" to a problem that often leads to even more problems, or at a minimum, only solve the problem on a short term basis.
  7. Somerset, Texas...twenty miles southwest of San Antonio and the "Gateway to the Air Force."
  8. I am so sorry for your loss. I do think that you are in the right place (this website) for support. I haven't been in the VentureRider family too long, but the support, help, and compassion our members present makes me proud to be a part of the organization. I have yet to be able to really help one of our members, but when the time comes I certainly plan to be there for them. You take care...God Bless...and as some of the members have already stated, time helps the healing process. Jim T
  9. Like you, I am new to the RSV family--same bike--same mileage. Those things you described are the same with my bike, too.
  10. Folks, the tragedy that happened to our friends ruins all of our moods, to be sure. But, we cannot live in a bubble. Life is too precious to waste a minute of it. It's kind of like the terroist situation today. If we bow to the threat of being hurt by continuing our lives, they win. Yes, someday all our times will come, until then just be thankful that we have been lucky to know our friends and live our lives to the fullest.
  11. This sounds like a great trip! We did not know about it and therefore will not be able to attend this year, but please keep us in mind for next year. I assume it will be around the same time-frame. Thanks much. Jim & Belinda T

    Sad News

Belinda and I would like to add our sincere condolences. It is tragic how a life can change, or end, in the blink of an eye. We all thank God that we get home safe, but I think we all realize as well how vulnerable we are on the machines that we love and provide us so much pleasure. Jim T
  13. Thanks to you all. Very much appreciate the information. Now I need to get busy and get r done!
  14. Thanks, Don. I will pursue getting the lights you recommended as well as some more. I definitely want to be seen out there!
  15. My apologies, I originally posted this in the wrong forum. I'm still getting used to the site. Sorry about that. The other day, whlie on the bike, my wife was driving behind me in her car. She said she was concerned about the lack of visibility from the rear and sides of the RSV and that we need to add some lights. I would appreciate hearing from some of you the kind of lighting you've added and if you could provide the site to obtain the lights. Thanks in advance. Jim T
  16. it's a great bike. you won't be disappointed.
  17. Retired from the Air Force after 28 years in 1992. Still working though. Plan on going semi-retired the first of June 08.
  18. I'm wondering if this is a real event. the guy never swerved or hit his breaks or looked back...nothing. i would have expected at least some kind of a reaction.
  19. Absolutely!!! Even though I have only 1450 miles on my 07 RSV, I KNOW that the purchase of this bike was the right thing to do. I am really looking forward to retirement and doing some traveling on it throughout the good ole US of A. :7_6_3[1]::7_6_3[1]:
  20. I wouldn't chance it. The border towns are rediculous these days. Americans are being kidnapped and worse. A Mexican family that works in our organization recently attempted a trip to visit their mother in Mexico. They were hit from behind; when the father stopped to see if his young son and college student daughter were okay they were attacked. The car and ALL belongings were stolen and the daughter was raped repeatedly and the son was forced to watch. No thanks! I don't want any part of it.
  21. I joined this site about two months ago and I don't think I've missed a day on checking in to see what's going on. I have found several other sites that discuss motorcycles, but this one is the TOPS!!! The comradery that is on the site is unsurpassed. Thank you all for being there. Jim T
  22. WIKD, I just purchased an '07 and it does the same thing. I'm pretty sure it's by design. By the way, welcome to the VentureRider site. Jim Turner
  23. if it is the same as my 07, the window is on the right side just above where the oil filter is. you have to have someone look at it while you hold the bike upright.
