Looks like some sort of portable antenna that can be jabbed into a tree or fence post.

Front Wheel Removal questions
flb_78 replied to johnny-canuck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It is possible. I've done it before. To do it though, the final drive has to be removed. -
I like the looks of those VMX cams!! I need to procure a set.

The entire point of "riding the Dragon" is to ride the road in your lane without crossing the line. It seems kind of stupid to me to go to one of the twistiest roads in America just to try and straighten it out by cutting corners.

All White Lights coming at ya!
flb_78 replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I'd be interested in seeing the setup for the lights on the crash bars. I need to get a set of lights down low to get under the fog and see the deer on the ride home at 3am. -
Damn, this should only be like a 30 minute job. Just solder on some PL259 connectors on the ends of the current coaxes. No need to replace the entire coax.

I think you had better invest in a better charging system if you're wanting to run a 250 watt amp.

Hopefully you can cancel your order. You do not need to worry about the cracks in the intake boots as they are steel on the inside.

replacment clutch
flb_78 replied to Jesse W James's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Most likely, you'll just need a new spring and not an entire clutch, unless you've let it slip a bunch. Here's an article about repairing the clutch. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=10518 -
I think the mufflers make great kickstands. The only times I'm really worried are when the floorboard mounts drag the ground and pick the front tire up.

On the 2nd gens, it's underneath the plastic cover around the gas cap. Remove the cap, remove the cover and there's a small (1/4" possibly) rubber hose. Pull the hose off the nipple and blow some air through it.

Has anyone ever seen a lift like this? It raises the bike 30" off the ground. http://www.harborfreight.com/high-position-motorcycle-lift-99887.html http://www.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/370x/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_4336.jpg

I ended up paying $84 and some change out the door, plus if there's a warranty issue, I can walk up to the counter and exchange it.

The part number on the battery is ETX20L. The bar code number is 83996 01086.

I think the easiest way to test the vent line would be to remove it from the tank and blow a little air through it.

After 4+ years of ownership, the battery in the Venture decided to crap out. I don't know how old the battery is as it was in there when I bought the bike used, but Ive owned the bike for 4 years. I pulled out an Interstate, which is made by Yuasa. Phone calls to the local Yammie and Honda dealers confirmed that a replacement Yuasa was in the $100-110 range, plus tax, title, license, dealer prep fees, hazard pay, environmental fee, disposal fee, walk in the door fee. I thought about ordering one online, but I'd hate to have to deal with any warranty issues through the interwebs so I checked around some more locally. It appeared to me that the "house branded" batteries at Advance Auto and Oreilly's were actually the highly rated Deka batteries with fancy stickers on them. http://www.advanceautoparts.com/1/1/591589-12-volt-sealed-agm-premium-batteries-power-sports-applications-by-magnapower-part-etx20l.html#fragment-1 http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/SSB0/ETX20L.oap?keyword=etx20l Advance list is 109 and Oreilly's was 89.99. I stopped in at Oreilly's and they had it in stock and they allowed me to fondle it. I then inquired about the price. Of course it came up as 89.99 as I expected so I yelled and screamed and rolled around on the floor and they offered to knock $10 off to make me stop. Total out the door was $84 and some change with my old battery as a core. Got home, checked the voltage, 12.5 volts right out of the box, tossed it in the bike and thumbed the starter switch and it fired right off. Peeled the sticker off the box and guess what...

Some of the Suzuki M109R guys had this happen by swapping out their fuel cap for a custom one. Too bad the vent was built into the cap. http://www.m109riders.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130570 Here's a collapsed Harley tank. http://www.v-twinforum.com/forums/twin-cam-88-engine-technical-discussion/129194-what-gas-tank-collapsed-vacuum.html

My boss went out to her bike to find a horrible surprise. Her tank had collapsed on itself. The tank vent was plugged up and the vacuum crushed the tank. The tank was low on fuel. She had been riding in the 80+ weather we had last week and parked her bike in the shed. Temps dropped back down to below 30.

Did someone from this forum participate with a blue Venture and a trailer? I found a post on the TexasCHLForum. http://texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=44239&sid=4e58e7cbd93475f19d1b40a455cf76f2

Not on a 2nd Gen, the fairing has to come off or at least loose and suspended from the ceiling. -

Bike now has a battery & 2 coils in
flb_78 replied to dingy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The concrete thing doesn't matter anymore. New batteries are not affected by concrete. As for being in a metal tray, most car batteries sit in metal trays under the hood. http://www.cartalk.com/content/columns/Archive/1999/November/06.html -
