  1. Not unless you've changed your front wheel out. The factory front wheel on an RSV is a 16 inch wheel.
  2. I bet the problem is in the alarm. Take the thing off, no one steals Ventures.

  6. I did not know that, Im not familiar with 1st gens, that's why I was asking.
  7. you should also think about changing out the springs with the Sonic Springs or Progressives.
  8. Ill make a parts list tomorrow for you. My satellite internet has been throttled back.
  9. I was just postulating. What makes the first gens have so much more power over the 2nd gens? I thought it was the head design and the cams? I would think that one may want to do it for the wider spread transmission range.
  10. Does the shiney section have an edge that can be caught with your fingernail?
  11. Could a 2nd gen engine be fitted in a first gen if the heads were swapped?
  12. that's probably the original finish under there and 12 years of weather and riding has "worn down" the exposed finish.
  13. Kickstand is on the left side, Clutch cover is on the right side.
  14. You won't see any performance increase with K&N's They Dyna module will allow you to increase the rev limiter and advance the timing. Tires will widely vary depending on riding style. Ive had as little as 6,000 miles on a rear tire while some claim to get over 20,000 miles. I would not shift the bike without the clutch. Ive done it before and it's not as smooth as other bikes Ive ridden. If you want the bike to accelerate at 55mph, you'll need to drop to 3rd gear. I don't use 5th gear unless Im running 65+mph. No worries about hurting the engine with revs with the factory ECU. Let er rev.
  15. Are you replacing all the discs or just the spring? If you're doing just the spring, you will should only have a minimal loss of oil if the bike is on the sidestand. If you're replacing the discs, you'll probably lose about a half a quart. I believe most folks take about an hour or two to replace the clutch spring their first time. More experiences members can swap one out much quicker.
  16. I would remove the left passenger floorboard and black plastic cover to access the starter relay and check for voltage on both terminals while the starter button is pressed.
  17. The side arms and brackets from a Royal Star or a Roadstar should work. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pristine-2000-Yamaha-Road-Star-Passenger-Back-Rest-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2a0f5f8188QQitemZ180646543752QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_508wt_1165 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-Tour-Deluxe-quick-release-backrest-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem43a6226743QQitemZ290550081347QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_500wt_1182
  18. Hi Dave, welcome to the forum. According to your profile, you have a 2008 RSV. When you say the bike doesn't start, does it not turn over when you hit the start button, or does it turn over but will not run? Things to check, make sure the kill switch is the run position, make sure the neutral light is on, you also may want to pull in the clutch lever just to make sure, though that's not required.
  19. That looks very good.
  20. It'll be worth it!!

  24. Im sure that if one were to heavily SeaFoam a heavily carboned engine that the carbon may foul the plug out, but I don't believe that the SeaFoam by itself would foul out the plugs.
  25. From what Im reading, the pistons do not have oil relief holes drilled in the oil ring valleys. So oil builds up in there and burns into a nice carbon crust, thus freezing the rings to the pistons. Many folks are doing a Marvel Mystery Oil soak on the pistons by removing the sparkle plugs and pouring 3-4oz of MMO into the combustion chambers and letting it soak for a minimum of 8 hours. After it soaks, they crank the engine over with the sparkle plugs out to break up some more of the crusties. Then they reinstall the plugs and drive the car. After 100 miles or so, they change the oil and run a heavier 10w40 oil. http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80118 This fella ran some Valvoline engine flush and reportedly stopped his oil consumption. http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1568
