  1. Great question! I will look a tad closer - I do know that the linkage is different between the two bikes.
  2. I am considering those - but they have the same type of allen screw mount, which is the part about the Kuryakyn's I do not like...
  3. I like the heel-toe shifter on my RSV. I do not like the black coverings for the contact parts for your feet - I replaced mine with those Kuryakyn ones, and I do not like those either. I LOVE the heel-toe shifter on my '06 Stratoliner. So I want something like that on my RSV. Anyone got any ideas on aftermarket or something to give me that? Also after riding my Strat - my RSV's shifting feels "spongy" compared to my Strat - any suggestions on how to improve that as well? TIA!
  4. I want to do that to mine! Someone would have to be blind and stupid not to see that!
  5. Oh yeah! Can't wait! I still have the original iPhone 8GB. As soon as those new ones hit the shelves, I will be on it like stink on a pig!
  6. I am not using the Flanders bars, mine are stock.
  7. I could see that - the bike rides smooth, lots of power. There is some noise form the airbox that I think Yammie needs to work on and make that quieter. But I could so see this as a tourer. As a matter of fact on the Delphi forums for the Strato - lots of guys and gals have done just that. Very nice jobs of it too! Full on paint matching hard bags, trunk, and fairings. Amazing looking!
  8. WOW ZOWIE! OMG - what an EXCELLENT piece of machinery! Showed up today - am I excited. Rode it for two hours, I am in love ALL over again! More on it later! Just glad it finally got here!
  9. Rick, THANKS! Got my RSV seats back about a week ago. I have been able to ride about 3 days total time - chopped up of course - damn Midwest weather! Anyway I noticed the difference right away! I sit in the seat now and my cahonies no longer get all mashed up into the tank! I love how I sit on the bike now! You did wonders with that pillow-top! I can't wait for the first long ride to see how well my cheeks wear! Excellent turn around, great communication. Thanks again Rick! The "Butt"ler mod rules!
  10. Ooohhh god no, those 1st Gen's are WAY too fast for me, too much power. I need to stick with that lil' 2 cylinder bike.
  11. So for the last 3 years I have been wanting a 2nd bike. I LUV my RSV - I have been waiting and waiting for Yamaha to rev the damn thing and they haven't - BUT that is ok. I got mine pretty much the way I like it - she runs good, she gets double-takes, all the comforts of home. But I wanted something to have "fun" with. Something to make loud and tool-around on. So I have been looking at RSTD's, the Roadliners, and in my wild dreams - maybe someday a Stratoliner. Well after I looked over that 2006 RSTD that had 300 miles on it - was completely disappointed. In this thread I got some good advice from RSTDog, and he was right on the , the gas tank was all rusty, the chrome was pitted and rusty, and it did not run. Damn shame, that bike was practically new - it needed some TLC, but that is NOT what I was looking for. I know some of you guys are good with the grease and a wrench - my life deals with people and 1's & 0's, so tinkering was not part of my game plan for a second bike. So I got a call from a guy who has a bike listed on this forum - he said that if I did not like the RSTD I was going to look at today that he had a 2006 Stratoliner that he would make me a good deal on. So this got me thunkin and thinkin. I spent the entire day yesterday from about 2PM until 2AM, looking and researching the Strato's. I decided that his bike was nice, but I want to keep silver in the family - my fav color, and I wanted an "S" model. So I found 3 of them through various places like ebay, CycleTrader, Craig's List, and private sellers. Right color, decent prices, etc, etc. Spoke with the people selling them and got a feel for who they were and are and what they REALLY wanted. After all the research, I pulled the trigger and made an offer on one of them this morning. It's all good, should be here in about 2 weeks I am guessing. http://i24.ebayimg.com/03/i/001/3a/d5/aa82_3.JPG 2006 Stratoliner S, 1,600 miles, excellent condition, one-owner. I am excited like a little kid on X-Mas!
  12. I went and looked at the RSTD today, damn shame, 300 miles, and not cared for, the buy did not happen. So now I am looking at several '06 Silver Strato's, I really like the looks and from what I read - an aggressive and smooth bike to ride.
  13. Of the four you had/have - which one do you like to ride the most? ;-) Like what you did to your RSTD. I like the top rails you put on the bags and fenders, and the WW tires are a very nice touch!
  14. I have a '99 RSV - I may be purchasing my 2nd bike which is a 2006 RSTD - it has 300 Miles and from what I gathered is in excellent condition - show room brand new. My question is - for those of you who may have ridden an RSV AND a RSTD, what can ya tell me is the difference in the ride and handling? Any insights to the RSTD I should be aware of? This is going to be my "play" bike - fixin it up, louder exhaust, more chrome, tweakin it if ya know what I mean!
  15. I have something like this as well now, fastened "under" the trunk. I want something that is more up high and in the line of sight of those behind me. I wish it was easy to get an HD style trunk with the speaker pods, lights, and intercom controls already in place for our RSV's. Those HD trunks come with all kinds of lights, that is what I wish I could have.
  16. I need a pair of boots that are comfy. I don't want zippers, buckles, velcro - just slip-ons. Any suggestions?
  17. Surfing through the custom dynamics site came across these gems for some easy mounting of rear brake/run and turn lights as options: http://www.customdynamics.com/integrated_led_light_bars.htm http://www.customdynamics.com/flex_led_array.htm I am going to try and mount these to my RSV trunk, and some to the bags and sides of the bike.
  18. Perfectly put.
  19. Another thing is features outside the actual on-bike use. The Garmins you have options with your home computers (Mac/Win), where by you can design routes, copy other people's routes, set way points, plan trips, etc. The Garmin makes it easy to get these from computer to device. Also Garmin makes it real easy to keep the device updated - from the mapping software and the firmware. Also now you can also use google maps to plot/plan rides and send those to your Garmin as well. Garmin has the nest ratings also compared to TomTom, Magellian, Cobra, and the plethora of others out there. But if you just want something to show you the way when you are lost, or find a hotel or gas station or a place to east whilst out on the road - and you don't mind maybe giving up my 4 previous caviots in my earlier post, then buy the bargain stuff. GPS is GPS when you are lost. ;-)
  20. I own a Zumo 550. It is designed for the motorcycle. It comes with the mount for the bike so you can take it on or off easily, it comes with the connector (12V) which is built into the mount, it comes with other hardware so I can use it with my car as well. The questions you have to ask: 1. Does it have a mount for my bike or can I get one. 2. Is it weather proof - designed to take the beating of direct sunlight, wind, rain, etc. 3. Is the interface for the device easily readable and able to interact with it if wearing gloves? One handed? Is the display large enough? Bright enough? 4. If you want the audio of the streets and turn commands, is there an output to connect? I would say these are the basic primary reasons for me if I were looking for a bargain, and knowing what I know about the Zumo. HTH
  21. How much power you runnin thru those Polks? I have a set in my '99, I love them! Better than what came stock. I want more sound - but every person I speak with says the amp system on our bikes just aint that good - not clean and not enough power. So it may NOT be the speakers....
  22. What kind of router do you have? Get a Mac. ;-)
