  1. Monty

    Ft Sill

We just returned from Ft Sill, where my youngest just graduated from his Basic Training. He has moved on to Ft Leonard Wood now. It was a 10 hour drive for us, but well worth it. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/FT%20Sill/IMG_0235.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/FT%20Sill/Benji1.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/FT%20Sill/IMG_0242.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/FT%20Sill/IMG_0272.jpg My oldest, (the one who rides the GS850), is in week 2 of his Basic at Ft Sill, so we didn't get to see him while we were there. They were supposed to go at the same time, but he had to get his tattoos approved first, so that held him up. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/FT%20Sill/1120090437.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/FT%20Sill/Jared2.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/FT%20Sill/Jared1.jpg
  2. The below link is to NASA and will help you find sightings this week on the Shuttle and the Int. Space Station (ISS). The dates with longer duration and higher elevation are really awesome to watch. Just saw on the news a minute ago that the two have split, so you may see them chasing across the sky. Sorry if you have clouds. Check it out, find your state/city. Times are usually right on, so bring the family out for a few minutes. I did that once during a small party and when the Shuttle showed,, they all looked at me and said, "Your were serious,,,,!" I told them "I got connections." http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/cities/skywatch.cgi?country=United+States Mike G in SC
  3. just thought i would wish everyone a HAPPY THANKSGIVING. i know i have so much to be thankful for, and i hope everyone else does to. this is the greatest country in the world. lets keep it that way. i thank god every day of the week that i have the freedom i have. thanks to all who are fighting for it now, and those that gave their life so i can be here now to say what i think. :clap2::clap2:
  4. Hello to all. Just a quick note. I will be starting production again the 1st week of December. I have tried to keep track of all who want cables. I will put up a thread or a classified add and start gathering names after Thanksgiving. We are moving this week and next so I won't pay attention until after that. I don't want to miss anyone so I figure an official thread with a by screen name list will work the best. Thanks so much folks. JB
  5. Just dropped Becky of at the airport this morning, she is visiting her sister in the Florida Keys for a week. She won't be back until next Wednesday evening. Guess I gotta ride solo this weekend. Hope I din't trash the place too bad...
  6. I will be having surgery in the morning for a cataract and hope it goes as good as the last time on the other eye. But the biggie is, Laura just found out today that after failing her stress test last week that Friday morning she will be having a heart cath to put a splint in due to the lower part of her heart not getting enough blood. I am afraid hers may end up with a bypass if the stint does not work ok. So, please keep us in your prayers and hope everything goes well. RandyA
  7. "patience my a$$, ... " Rained out two days this week and Tuesday it took me 10 hours to do 3 hrs of work. And it's not even winter yet! Temper is getting a bit shorter so the lack of progress on the chair is annoying. The trike shop that is "helping" me build the mounting hardware for the EL is sooo slow, and they aren't exactly booming with work. The owner, an engineer, has spend more time to do a CAD drawing of the set up and now, a full day of research on leaning sidecars (including patent searches), then he has builing the blasted sub-frame/mounts. It took me 30 minutes with some leftover lumber to determine what is possible while he took a full day to say it couldn't. Now he's researching how other leaners hook up, when all he needed to do was contact the guy I bought it from (who has almost a decade experience with leaners!) Even his fabricators says he tends to overanalyze everything! I know, good in one sense, but they have no experience with sidecars, so even I know more, but he won't listen. Send him an E-mail stating what I want him to do, no answer; ...(yet). And on top of that his shop man is going on his honeymoon next week, so unless they did anything usefull on the frame today, it's going to somewheres around the end of the month! Aaarrrgghh!! I'm going to kill something now .....
  8. Got to be at Hospital at 6:30am, Daughter at her friends home until I get out. Haven't been able to sleep last couple of nights and this fiberglass brace they made doesn't fit, it's to small. I do not know what they are going to do about it, I cannot get on my feet without it after the surgery. I seem to be a lot more nervous this time, it just don't feel right. At least with that morphine drip I'll get more sleep then I've had in a couple of years. lol. I'll check in in a week or so......Bye.
  9. Well, this time it is actually a good thing. MochaLady and I found a place to hang our helmets. We are heading for Floresville, Texas. Or more precisely about 10 miles north of there 1/2 way from San Antonio. We picked up 5 acres with a 2500 SF home. It is a double wide set on a permanent foundation. We have 4 bedrooms, 3 bahrooms, 2 living rooms, and a study. Momma gets a small greenhouse and I get a garage. So, all the missed rides, meets n eats, and other things are now worth it. I have been working 6-7 days a week all year and Maggie has been working double 16 hr days on the weekends and a day or two in the week. Now the better news, after we move, Maggie will go back to working during the week and not on weekends. I will actually do the same. Might even take some vacation soon. Heck, a friend of ours even gave us an old Honda CB400. Maggie wants me to fix it so she can learn to ride her own scoot. Soon, we will have a bit of a housewarming (after Christmas) and invite our friends over to share some hospitality. We have even named the place FUGAWEE ACRES! It is far enough out of town to stand in the middle of our back field and shout "Where the Fugawee!" We close on the 10th of November - in 2009. JB

  12. Beginning the middle of this month, I have to put in requests for vacation for next year. I would like to attend Cody. Is it always the third week of September? Scooter
  13. I haven't been over here in a while and I'm not sure if any of these guys were members but we had a tragic event last week with members of the UK Venture club who were over in Italy riding with what was the European Venture club that evolved into the Motorcycle Touring Club of Europe, MTCE. Anyway, here is the link: http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/World-News/Three-British-Motorcyclists-Are-Killed-In-A-Crash-At-A-Tunnel-In-Italy/Article/200909415387266?lpos=World_News_News_Your_Way_Region_8&lid=NewsYourWay_ARTICLE_15387266_Three_British_Motorcyclists_Are_Killed_In_A_Crash_At_A_Tunnel_In_Italy Colin was very helpful for me when I organised the big Euro Tour back in 2004 when over 40 Venture riders from the US & Canada came over for a two week tour of Europe by bike. 15. I am travelling to Des Moines this Friday (in cage) and will be there for a week. Anyone here have recommendations for restaurants that I must visit while there? Thanks
  16. Has anyone had a drive train lockup while in motion on a 1st. generation? Or a brake lock up that caused loss of control. Mine is ok but getting age on it. Bike runs great and I am starting to venture on longer trips and may end up on a several week trip next year. The scoot is a 87 venture with 35000 miles on her. Every thing works great. Ideas??? Thanks!!
  17. We'll be leaving in the am to head for PA,in the CAGE so it will be a tough week for me,all I'm going to see all week are scoots everywhere.I'll be staying in the Williamsport area so if there are any members in the area, give a shout maybe we can have a mini M&E. Arthur
  18. While at work today we were doing our regular excercise and I tore the bicep in my right arm. What a bummer. Had a ride planned for next week in Myrtle Beach. 3-4 month+ recovery time. What did I do?
  19. I was glad However That Big Tom was not with me yesterday. I realy not sure how would have been able to deal with a large man crying. The pic's should explain. This is or was Chapmans icecream factory the building was 125 years old and this week it burnt down. when I stopped and took these pic's smoke was still coming from the ashes.
  20. I'll be in Cody Wy!!!
  21. Next week this time I will be in Memphis, Tn. hopefully having lunch with a very large group of Ventureriders then off to St. Jude to give them some money and take a tour of the facility. Hope to see a lot of bikes and members there. Be careful. Our tour is scheduled for 1:00 pm, so I should be there about 11:00 am or there abouts.......I will try not to be late again.................. Fly J Truck Stop. W. Memhis, Tn.
  22. The Geese are now flying south and Temperatures are dropping to 40 F This year we didnt even get a full week of 75 F
  23. Got home from Minnesota around 11:00 last night. Really glad to be home again and am ready for things to get back to normal. Weather was fantastic there and it would have been great to have had my bike with me. Oh well.... Home for the weekend but then have to get on the road again. Probably somewhere in Michigan next week so that's not too far a drive for me. Have some updates and etc. to do on the site and will probably be doing that on Monday evening after I get checked into a hotel somewhere. Nothing major, just some security upgrades.
  24. Hello everyone, I'm looking to install a tank Tux bib or Tie. Does anyone know where I can get a nice one? Does it rub the paint finish on the tank? Also, is it difficult to install? Thanks for you help. I'm riding with the 1700 bikes this week for the moving veterans wall in Beaver Pa and I would like to have it by then!
  25. We are getting ready to leave for CO next week and I have a question. Wanda's back is just not up to riding across KS, so I'm going to trailer to CO and then we'll ride all week in the mountains. Here's my question, where to attach the tiedown straps? I can see there is just enough clearance to attach the front straps to the handlebars near the triple tree, but are the rear bars where y'all attach your rear straps? The last time I trailered a bike was 30years ago and that was a dirt bike that I could have just laid over, so I wasn't too careful with it!
