  1. So I have purchased the clutch upgrade from Earl and plan on doing it in the next week or so. I have reviewed all of the posts that I could find and think I have a good feel on how to do it, but I have a few questions to make sure I understand. I have posted the clutch drawing from the parts fiche. So I understand that the part labeled 4 is the wire, this is discarded. The posts on the site say to 'break' the wire. What is it attached to exactly and do you break it or can you just reach in and cut it with a pair of dykes? Is it just lockwire or is it a cable of some sort? It is called a Ring, Clutch Boss. Part number 5,6,7, and 8 are unique in that they are all the only one of their type. Which one is the 1/2 plate and besides 4 which other parts are discarded (besides 12 I know that is the spring) I am thinking 7 is the half and is replaced. Anyway if someone has done this mod recently I would much appreciate the input. David
  2. There's many other ways to open a bottle of Pop Bobbie But Than I do understand why..You're from the South :rotfl:
  3. This morning I decided to make a brace for the lower leg by cutting down a wrap-around brace I had been given the first time the fixator came off. Asked Quickstep to cut down the metal plates than run through it...and Hey presto! made a shorter version. But would it work Asked Quickstep if he fancied a ride into Fremantle for a coffee, and he said why not! Sooooo............... YEEHAW: Took my first ride on the Quike since before Christmas. :dancefool: WOOF WOOF: Only a dog would understand the wind in the face feeling!! Riding the bike is the one thing I can do independently, and feel able bodied I'm a happy little venture rider.
  4. I saw this over on a VTX forum. I wanted to post it here and see what the "ones in the know" know about it. It seems like a really simple solution to getting more out of stock speakers. What do you guys think? Scroll down to page 3 of the pdf document and check out what they recommend. The best I can understand it, it is recommended by the fairing manufacturer. If that's so, why don't they do it at the factory? I guess they consider it an option....
  5. Warden claims I don't need any more 1st Gens?? Caught me looking at that BLUE one!! Just can't understand that!!!
  6. Does anyone have any personal experience with one of these? Right now I'm using an mp3 player, but it's kinda hard to ride and change songs with the player, but if I understand this right, this will play and be controlled through the handlebar controls. Wonder could it be adapted to the RSV? I thought it would be kinda cool! http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail.asp?ProductID=JMDM-GL18&PF=32
  7. True heart of a biker A biker’s heart tells him he is a biker. A biker does not need leathers to prove his point. In fact, a true biker needs not prove any point. A biker does not have to fly colors to be a biker. A true biker does not have to prove his manhood. In fact, a true biker is secure enough within himself That he need not show his manhood. A biker is someone who is born with something only Few can understand. A biker is someone who stands firm for what he believes, And for the right cause, he will fight to the end. Now a lot of people have this image of a biker, but so many Of them are way off base! When they think biker, they think Rough and tough………mean and nasty………heartless and cold…… To those people I say how wrong you are A true biker knows when he must be that way and knows He must defend himself when necessary. But a true biker does not go out and provoke . The new breed of so-called bikers are truly Lost and clueless. They will never understand the rules and codes so many Have lived by for years gone by. A true biker knows it is not about the colors you fly or The kind of bike you have… It is about heart & soul & freedom & family!!!!
  8. I know you folks up north and upper mid west are gonna think I'm a big weeny but It has been COLD here in Florida. I haven't been able to ride the last two weeks because the lows have been in the 30's and the highs have been in the 50's and raining. We had snow flurries Saturday and it was ugly. Today was 28 in Tampa. You have to understand that if we go more than one day without seeing the sun we start feeling really sorry for ourselves. OK, I'm through whining.
  9. Which one should I get? I like to play race car games and anything that flies... simulator's, fighters, helicopters. Also I understand the PS3 has a better quality Blue-ray / DVD player...?? What's your experience guys/gals/kids ?? What about the Wii ??
  10. Anyone try their slip-on mufflers? Don't have a clue who makes their stuff, but the price is good (maybe too good?). They have a slip-on, extra long seamless fishtail muffler made for HD that they say fits the RSTD. Heard a YouTube video where a Brazilian guy put them on and they sounded pretty good (couldn't understand him though . Anyone try them? Will they fit? Just came back from Thunder Beach and didn't have to worry about anyone hearing my exhaust. Thanks!
  11. Yep, mine started slipping about two months ago. Very slight at first and now very noticeable. I ordered the clutch up grade this past Monday 09-21-09 from PCW Racing and received it today 09-23-09 by UPS. Pretty good I would say. I just might start on it tonight after work and see how it goes. I may understand the instructions more once I get in there and see what it is like. Thanks to this sight as to know where to order parts and do the work.
  12. hairman

    speakers

Has anyone changed out the speakers on their bikes so that they can hear the rock music better? Country music you can understand but if you try to listen to anything else you can't understand it at high speed. It sounds like rap music when you are at the speed limit.
  13. Did anybody catch this ebay item?????? Not sure I understand why 2 engines, but hey, at least they are V-4s! Guy appears to understand & practice good workmanship. It's different, that's for sure. Submitted for your viewing pleasure (or not).... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1-OF-A-KIND-TWIN-ENGINE-REVERSE-TRIKE_W0QQitemZ280389197365QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_motorcycles?hash=item41487f9e35&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245
  14. The clutch on my 88 has got the high rpm slips. New clutch plates or a conversion are outside the realm of the current budget. Does anyone out there have a clutch spring from their 86 and up ( Royal Stars too if I understand it ) that they don't have a need for? Maybe you already did a Barnett conversion on your bike. I'd happily pay a few bucks for it. Thanks to whoever PM's me, or even just reads this.
  15. At some point over the past years, that mean Cinderella started calling me Tweety Bird. I THOUGHT it was just her way of being endearing but now I REALLY understand what she meant. Tweety Bird turned 60 recently. Now I know how Cinderella sees me.
  16. Well after years of being here and being know ans Allan H, I have decided to officially change my site name to Wrongway. Those of you who know me will totally understand and agree! Those of you that don't know me, well lets just say I shouldn't ever be the ride captain!
  17. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBNyuf533Go]YouTube - You didnt see me[/ame] If ya don't ride...ya won't understand....preaching to the chior.
  18. 09 RSV.....I have a pair of Kuryakan grips ordered and want to make sure I understand how to install them. I've installed the Kuryakan grips on a different bike in the past and it was pretty easy. After reading some posts about installing them on an RSV, some folks refer to separating the throttle switch housing and removing the cables. I don't understand why this is necessary? Don't the new 6235 Kuryakan grips just slide on over the throttle's plastic sleeve? Thanks.....David
  19. My oldest son, Matt, sucessfully defended his thesis on Friday. Analysis of Acoustical and Psychoacoustical Emission of a Desktop Personal Computer System I went to his defense presentation and I have to say most of what he talked about went way over my head but he did a real good job and I was able to understand what it was about. He has been working so hard for the last 3 years on this project and is relieved that it is finally finished. Now to find a job.
  20. I just purchased a new Carbtune Pro from California Sport Touring for $99.00, plus shipping. I tried to find a good used one but was not lucky enough to find one. Any how...... I would once again like to thank the club members for the wonderful posts on how to use the Carbtune. In particular I would like to thank ROCKY your information was simple, easy to understand, and easier to do. My 1989 Venture Royale runs like new. Thanks again to all the great members on this site!!!!!! Steve
  21. keep your fingers, legs, eyeballs, and anything else you can bodily cross, crossed today. The saga of the Venture has continued. Still torn down at the dealer, but didn't want to keep crying and whining here about it...one thing after another with lost parts in the mail, etc,etc....anyway, ... tonight is suppose to be the big night, after 4 weeks, that we get our baby back. I appreciate all the moral support you have given me....it helps to have people understand. So, even if your co workers look strange at you walking around with your legs crossed, just tell them "No you don't need to use the restroom, your just helpin' out a friend! Thanks again!
  22. This took a long time but it looks like they finally got the approval. Only time will tell if it ends up being a good thing or bad thing for the consumer. Now I wish I hadn't switched to Sirius. I understand that soon now you will be able to pick your own programming from each one...build your own favorite channels. I have actually enjoyed the Sirius programming more than XM but I liked XM equipment better.
  23. I know I had seen something out here a while ago about this, but couldn't find it. Anyways, the brass outlet tube was weeping a bit and it popped out when I pulled the fuel line off. I understand that it is a pressure fit, ok to tap it back in as is? Use a little sealant? Or replace the whole thing? Thoughts or experiences, thanks.
  24. I might have misunderstood or misread some stuff but I was under the impression the radio was suppose to cut off when we use the intercom. If the radio is on the speakers I can understand it why it may not cut off but when listening to tunes in the HeadSet, it is pretty hard to understand my passenger and vice versa. Is there a setting to get the radio to cut off when talking or is it something I have to live with? Thanks
  25. I havnt seen this site discussed in here, so I thought I would share it just in case someone hasnt seen it. This site is called MapMyRun and you pick where youre going to run (in our case it is a mc run lol), put it on their maps and save it and its on a web page for everyone to see. You can put in turns and points of interest and even get everyone to run off a copy before you get to the start so everyone is aware of the route. It also can be used to plan a long distance run as well as local runs, and I understand that you could save it into google maps as well. Find it at www.mapmyrun.com Heres the link for the newbie ice cream run in Regina Saskatchewan. http://www.mapmyrun.com/route/canada/sk/regina/566211812621 Have fun!!! Brian :cool10:
