  1. I was in a local indy shop today and he has a 2006 Bushtec trailer for sale. Less than a 100 miles pulled. He is asking $3000. for it and if anyone is intrested I can give you his phone number. It is white-has the front bra-and covered cooler mounted on it. Looks good. I have no intrest other then letting ya'll know of a good deal.
  2. Does anyone have a hitch for a 1st Gen. I have an 86 and haven't had much luck finding a trailer hitch for it. Any help would be great. Thanks.
  3. Taking the scoot slapping a few necessary items on a stripped or a touring package for the road trip.now thats what motorcycling is all about..... I remember a seeing a Aston Martin towing a trailer this summer and towing a trailer with a motorcycle :rotfl:What a joke it takes away the meaning of Adventure Im hoping that my health issues will get better but Im planning to ride my 88 Honda Super Magna 750 to Dons Maintenance and all my necessary items will be in a pack sac thats 1350 miles to Lowell and the rest of you that dont pull a trailer
  4. Hadn't seen this one before. It doesn't use a hitch. Connects to the rear axle. http://www.motogoodies.com/
  5. Hi Guys! I just purchased a friend's (pull behind the bike) trailer and it has the perfect place to mount an ice chest cooler rack right between the hitch and the bed. So, now I'm looking for some suggestions where to look for this type of rack. It would also be nice if I could use it alone (on the hitch) without the trailer. Anyone have some ideas or pictures to share? Thanks & Be Safe! Pete.
  6. I just posted my Kendon Trailer in the classifieds if anyone is looking for a really nice standup trailer. I can't use it with my Sidecar on my 05.
  7. I just ordered a venture dad hitch. Roy said to use a standard boat trailer 5 pin flat rubber connector wiring kit that you can get from most auto parts stores. A friend of mine has a trailer he pulls with his goldwing and said I can use it anytime to get the feel of pulling a trailer before I buy one. I thought this is great. My wife and I are going on a trip next week so this will be a good time to pull a trailer. But my friend says he has a 4 pin connector with a 5th wire added. I also saw on a thread this morning on the hopkins hoppy trailer kit which it says is a 4-way flat connector. What should I do to wire my venture for a trailer. I am confused, however it doesn't take much to confuse me. Thanks.
  8. well this morning i saw my trailer at bush tech. Just to let you know its a nice one but, they wouldn't release the trailer. they said my hitch was not to there likening (safety) i asked them if we could spend a few mins to reinforce it. i told them it dont have to look pretty just to do the job. so i ended up with no trailer. then on the way home my clutch went i made it home almost, with just 70 miles to home plate. so one of my buds rode on home and then came back to get me with a trailer. FUN FUN FUN:draming:
  9. I may be in the market for an enclosed trailer large enough for the 2000 RSV. It will be mainly used for my band's equipment, since Ventures do not require trailers like some OTHER bikes. However, we could use it in case of long vacations that don't allow the extra time for the entire journey to be taken by bike. Anything out there? I am in Dallas.
  10. Im going to be picking up my trailer from bush tech on Nov 2 and riding up on the 1st, anyone want to ride up there.

    Bushtec trailer?

take a look at this - 83 with what looks to be a bushtec trailer - might be worth purchasing the bike to get the trailer! may need to cut and paste the address: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Venture-XVZ1200-with-custom-trailer_W0QQitemZ320161669500QQihZ011QQcategoryZ6718QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  12. Going to change my tires today... I purchased the Balancer from Marc Parnes, and looks like a fine tool...I have a Bike jack, and whole bunch of tools, Now to take the bike apart and get it all back together again.... wife thinks it will end up on the trailer getting hauled to the Stealer.... I may need to get with ya`ll if I run into problems....wish me luck, and any pointers for this would be appreciated.... Thanks, Kreg
  13. I did a 8 day trip to New England this year with my wife so the bike was pretty well loaded down. I have noticed even without the extra weight when I am going up hill in 5th gear when I give it throttle it really starts to vibrate and then stops once I crest the hill. Have just bought a trailer but will probably not get a chance to try it this year. I just hope with the extra trailer weight and the more I can pack if this will hurt the bike. Does anyone else notice the vibration when accelerating up hill?
  14. We had frost warnings here last night. Predicted temps in the mid to high 30s. I don't think it got that cold but I'm not even ready to hear those predictions. Just doesn't seem that I've gotten near enough riding in this summer. I pulled the trailer out today and got it washed and waxed and polished the chrome. Then put the cover on it and put it in it's designated winter storage corner of the garage. I'm not done riding for the year but any long trips that would require the trailer are pretty much over with. I tell you folks...there is just WAY to much going on at my house. Seems there is not enough time for Eileen and I to have any time together. I know I've not posted here near as much as I usually do but things are just hectic right now. As you know, Eileen lost her sister a year or so ago due to cancer. It really took a toll on her after being the caregiver for a couple of years. Now her mother is dying of the same thing and she is doing it all over again. She is really having a hard time dealing with it all so please keep her in your prayers. Don
  15. I ride a 2000 Royal Star and I just purchase a tow behind trailer. The trailer comes with the standard 4 wire connector. Does anyone know of a site where I can get the info on how to hook up the four wire connector on the bike or if anyone has wired their bike to hook up the four wire connector.
  16. I put together my little Harbor Freight trailer a few days ago. Got everything working and hooked up and went for a 150 miles ride yesterday to check everything out and to get used to towing. I didn't load it with anything. I'll wait to do that another day. not a whole lot of difference once under way. A little more clutch was needed to start out and braking seemed normal although I kept longer distances between me and others. best part really was all the strange looks I got. Nobody here (that I've seen) tows a trailer with their motorcycle. Passed a group of riders. Thought some of them were gonna break their necks looking back!
  17. Harbor Freight 40X48 trailer. I've made stake sides (with front and back) with rails for items that don't need to be protected from rain and for bulky stuff. They are removable so that I can pop on the enclosure I made today. It also fits into the stake holes where they are then secured by clevis pins with cotter pins on the back. Anyway....I've made the enclosure out of 1x2 and some 1x3's and 1/4 plywood(ish) stuff. It is reasonable light but in no way water tight. Even with paint I fear that there may be long term water issues. But maybe I'm wrong... Can I get by with primer and exterior grade paint? Is there any type of rubber or something that I can put on the top and front? It's gotta be easy to work with and not too thick. Ideas? I may end up putting diamond plate on the front but don't want to put it up top. I need to keep the weight down. As it is now I figure I've added about 40lbs with this enclosure. The trailer will be garaged when not in use but we get some fairly heavy downpours here in the tropics and I need to make sure the trailer and the stuff inside will hold up to it when I'm on the road with it.
  18. I have the Harbour Freight 40x48 trailer. I put the ground in the spot that they said to (right after the hitch). I still don't have lights. I have correct power all the way to the 4-way from the bike. Still no lights. All I can figure is that th ground is not grounding. Is there a better way to ground?
  19. The part number is 46255. It seems ready made and cheap. I thought about using it so I could get a trailer.
  20. I was getting the trailer wired today to go to Kbrans in the morning. I hot wired it to under the license plate because I have separate turn signals on the trailer. When I checked it with the trailer connected everything worked fine. I disconnected the trailer to get the bike out out the shed that I park in and now I have only a head light, dash lights, radio and the bike will start and run. I have no speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, turn signals, 4 ways or brake lights........what is up with this? I turned the ignition on and off several times with no change in the condition. Mind you I don't even have the trailer hooked to the bike! I can't believe that it is a fuse problem because it is effecting too many circuits. Nee help quick! Mark
  21. I'm wiring my 2003 venture for a trailer plug. I'm using a Hoppy #48915 which is supposed to convert independant signal/brake light, to the common combined system. I ran 4 relay's so I didn't stress the system. The problem is, all I get on the plug is tail lights, no signals or brakes. I tracked all five wires back, and even right before they go into the converter they all work fine. On the other side of the coverter/plug, of the 4 wires, only the tail light has power. Did I get a bad converter? I've read where people have used Hoppy #48845, and I don't see anything different with what I have other than the converter is in the plug and not inline. Where an I going wrong:confused24:? Thanks Steve
  22. Well till the wife can handle longer MC trips ,we will have to trailer a bit so I am building a trailer rack for the BEERCART. I have her worked up to 3-4 rides now , but going to Vogal is a bit longer on her , so we will trailer to Sleeperhawk's and Mechanic's house and ride scoot from there on . Now my MC/Ult. trailer is not large enough for both scoot and the BEERCART . So I'm in the process of building a rack to set the BC (BC = BEERCART) onto . Here are some photos of what I have accomplished so far . I still have to finish cleaning it up , finish the loading ramps , place a boat bow roller , hand crank wrinch , some minor bracing and paint . Should take a couple of more afternoons . The scoot will ride directly behind the BC . I had it on the trailer last night for adjustments and have 3-4 inches of clearence between it and the BC . By the way , if was just myself the scoot would not be trailers . I'm only doing this for the love of my wife ! But there will be no cage at Vogal . Gene
  23. Does anyone know of a wiring harnes that is available to hook up trailer adapter without cutting into wiring? I knoe they make them for cars, but did not know if they are available for RSTD or RSV.
